How to open an apk file?

Hello,
What program do I use to open an apk file?
I want to modify an apk file and then save it.
thanks
I think you just put it on your computer, rename it from .apk to .zip
extract.
There ya go.
IDK but you may have to sign it somehow again, but im not sure if you even need to.
Or just use winrar and open it.

I grabbed APK Manager from the development section. More for theming, but powerful.

Extract wallpapers

Hello,
someone knows if it possible (and how) extract Wallpapers from the firmware downloaded with NaviFirm?
Thanks
I haven't explored the sync features in Zune yet - are you sure you can't get them through that??
Otherwise, .esco files can be opened like a normal zip. Look for the big .esco firmware file (around ~370MB) and extract the .img file from it. If you can read the contents of the .img file, I reckon you could get them...
THanks Tj,
no works...I found the big .esco, extracted the boot.img...and that file is "empty"...no Winzip no winrar no Dtools can how what's inside it...I wanna extract a carrier's wallpaper... :/

[Req] Extract apk from image file-how?

Hi all. Can an apk be extracted from an image file?
The image file is the .tar.md5 of the official UK ICS update from sammobile.
I've done a search and so far can't find how to do this.
Is it even possible?
There's a particular app in the UK version that's not in the US version I want to install
on my US 7510 wifi tab.
Thanks.
As I know, .tar files are archive file like zip. just for Linux. have you tried to open it with 7zip.?
I don't know if it works, but maybe.

Tried WinRar but doesn't get me into the tar file to see the apk's.
Will try 7zip.

---> Question Extracting APKs <--- Pls look

So I know how to extract APKs with APK manager.
However, I want to know, when you extract APKs, where are the images of the APK located?
In which folder when you extract the APK files, are the images?
- It used to be easier back in the day, you would extract and all the images would just be there.
to get images folder you dont need to use apktool/manager.. use 7zip.. then extract. you get res folder .. all images in there... you find which one you to replace and rename to it, drag n drop to corresponding folder ur renamed one after opening apk in 7zip... no need to sign apk or whatver

Yes, but not all the images are there.. Where are the rest of the images?

Most of the images should be there but if not you will have to either go through all of the lies to find them or you can search for them.

The same way you change any wallpaper. Long press on the home screen, select the wallpaper icon, then navigate to the folder where you place the image files.
