hey all, i saw theres been a massive price cut on the xperia play, and i can afford it so, is it worth me selling my x10 and getting a play? is it that much better than x10? What about build quality and stuff?
also, with the play being a psp (what i want, i play games, listen to music, text and watch movies so) are the games .iso's or .apk's? basically im wondering if the psp side of it is an app or another OS. because id like to be able to run backups of my old games on it, i have them stored on my computer from when i dumped my old UMD games. so are the games on the play .apk's or .iso's and what is used to launch into the psp mode of the phone, an app or is it a native second OS?
thanks
stephen
I don't know if im really qualified to answer these questions but ill try since, I have an x10 that have xperia play launcher and my best friend got an xperia play. I know most of the games for xperia play are iso converted to apks but if you search right on the forums you'll find roms and app that can run iso's on the play. My buddy got that rom and can even run n64 games on the play so if you really like gaming, it's the phone to go for just battery life is very poor when gaming, that's normal. Hope I answer your question
id like to ask does everyone think its worh it for £150 brand new?
as well as a response to my previous questions. thanks

Although after looking at the leaked specs, the Xperia Play seems like it is powerful enough to play PSP games, I really doubt that would be the case.
If you look at the images on the web, this phone is lacking the joy-stick apparent on all PSP modules.
So, I'm speculating that this phone will only support PlayStation 1 games purchased from the PlayStation store, as well as PlayStation Minis instead of playing PSP exclusive titles.

the long touch pad strip on the phone is suppose to simulate the joystick. this is genius in my opinion, the psp only had one, and now this phone will use this multitouch pad so the user can have 2 joysticks... without having 2 joysticks. i dont think the phone will run umd games but im confident it will play downloadable psp games just fine

I am thinking of buying a Sony S1. I will be buying a Vita, already have a PSP, PS3 and Play.
My questions are about the games; so far I have only bought a few downloadable games from Sony for both the PS3 and PSP.
1. As with Android, can I purchase one game and play the game on multiple devices (I am really just thinking of the Vita and S1)?
2. What games will play on the S1. I have read on this site PSone games. But what about old PS2 games?
3. Are there lots of Sony games available for the S1 or will I struggle to find my old favorites?
Thanks and sorry if some of the questions are vague.
From what I can see it is no different than what you can play on your Play. E.g. a few ps1 games. Almost certain that ps2 games will never be supported. If you have the original ps1 games get fpse and then you can emulate them on the play and s1

GTA3 was originally a PS2 game
1. No, if you buy a game for the tablet s it will not be available on your vita, ps3, etc. Sucks, I know, cause I have multiple devices as well. They have to format/emulate the games differently. Hopefully in the future they'll streamline it, so for now I'm hesitant to purchase too much.
2. Officially I think it's only psone games now, but unofficially you can download emulators from the market that'll run just about anything and some of them will work with the native PS3 controller support as well!
3. There are about 12 in the "official" Sony store with more stated to come. There is, of course, the emulator alternative in the market and that will open up the window to just about whatever you want.
Thanks for all the replies, they have all been very helpful
I am thinking about buying the S1 and wanted to know if integration with Sony games would be a deciding factor.
For me, based on the replies I don't think it will bean important factor in my decision.
It seems that there are not that many games, they are all old and it sounds like I would need to buy multiple copies (or run emulators).
However I am still very tempted by the S1. I particularly like the form factor.
Thanks again
Games bought from PS Store on tablet, 'should' be re-downloadable on other playstation certified devices (Xperia Play, PSVita .etc) From within the PSStore app. It worked for me! I now have 5 free PS1 Games bought on my tablet on my Xperia Play.
To clarify Sony tablet games bought from PS Store should work on PSVita as it is playstation certified and part of the same ecosystem! Hope it helps!
Hello guys. This is a question that has been bugging me for a while, regarding my Sony S tablet (non Xperia).
When I first bought it I recall it said something in the box about playing Playstation games... and the tablet even has the Playstation logo on the back. It came with a pinball game and Crash bandicoot, which I assume are ran in an emulated PLaystation of sorts that came with the device.
My question, just out of curiousity. How do I get more PS games on the tablet? To run the same way Crash Bandicoot and the pinball game does?
I tried searching for this... assuming there would be some sort of dedicated app store with PS games for the tablet, but I was redirected to an app in the Google Play store that isn't even available in my country (Portugal).
Is it possible that Sony sold their tablets and didn't even care to offer their services properly in some countries... like mine?
PS: I know I can just install a Playstation emulator (like fpse) and download the roms from another website. But I'm curious about the "original" way to do this.
This is just my opinion, but the ps games that were or are available are not all that great. GTA was the best one. I actually just went straight to the nvidia tegra games from the get go. Try tegrazone.com, if you not already have. Just my two cents.
I want to port "Desperados Wanted Dead or Alive" and "Robin Hood the Legend of Sherwood" (two of my all time fav pc games) to Android. I used to spend so much time playing these games when I was a lil kid. Amazing games. Dont understand why they havent yet been ported to Android. I reckon they would sell a few millions on the GPlay if the pricing was right. (Profit guaranteed) I would definitely buy them if they were available on the GPlay. Anyway since they are not and probably never will, I am trying to find out how to port these games to android. Since they both are 2D point and click games they would be perfect to play on the android platform and also much easier to port to android than 3D pc games.

If they are available on ps2 then you can download the roms of them (game .bin file) and run them in a PS2 emulator on android. Same with PSP games, there is PPSSPP!
You may find roms on coolrom.com!

I don't know about these games. But if they are DOS based games (like Dangerous Dave, Digger, Prince, Prince of Persia),
then you can use DOSBox to play the games.
More information is at DOSBox Play Store Page here.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fishstix.dosbox
Even if these games are not for DOS, you seem to be a person interested in old games (just like me). Then you can play those charming old games on DOSBox.
Press Thanks if helped.
Dangerous Dave
Dangerous Dave is already on Google Play, it's pretty good too.
Hi guys,
A friend is away for some days and she has no laptop with her,
but only her iPhone. I am using Android (Galaxy S4).
Now we are looking for games, that we can play together or
against each other, because the one game we know (Quizduell)
is getting boring.
But no MMOPRG, quizes or Poker games. She does not like
that. Maybe she is more interested in simple straight-on games.
Can you give me some hints?
Thank you very much.

Here's 10... One of which is Uno, I used to play it on Xbox Live back in the day, good laid back fun
(Better late than never, download some for next time )
