Isn't root explorer just like every other file explorer? Why do more people use it and is always on tutorials?
if you need to edit system files with root aceess .. mount system as r/w , remove bloats ..in short advanced tasks .....you need it ...
if you haven't even rooted or don't want to touch system leave it
Because its fast, clean and you can use ROOT

as i have seen many dudes deleting system apps after which cry on xda
So I'm guessing its worth the money then. And as far as I've searched, there isn't a free version
you can also google it .

Restarted... Wiped cache, wiped davik cache, still no go. Used Nandroid to restore to a prior ROM I was using (Cog x2). Now it works. Found out that write protection on the SD partition was set to S-ON. Had to restore to a different ROM to get it back online. Super user was not granting permission to Root Explorer with Stock deodexed rooted ROM. Strange. Anyway, maybe someone else will come across this same issue and know that it is ROM related to write only partitions.
Thanks!

Hello. You want to mount r/w on your SD CARD. Madman is right. It's always r/w on the card.
System and card is different.

For ICS 4.0.4 here is two mods battery percentage(circle and rectangular);instructions:
copy systemUI in system/app with permision RW-R-R and then reboot.
Your phone must be rooted.
PS:systemUI is for circle and systemUI(R) is for rectangular;if use rectangular delete(R) the files must be systemUI.
UPDATE:new mod named android is systemui(A)
Thank You !
What the SystemUI(R) ?
i can't change permission for this file, it say file system do not allow permission changes

I sent a pm to explain.
Oddly enough when running this, from time to time it will revert back to the stock battery, then back to the modded one.
When I tried skyfir123 versions in his thread it doesn't do that.
Can you fix that? Cause I much prefer the R version you have to anything else.

2.Flash the recovery-nozomi.img with next comand: fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img
3.Enter in recovery(push volume down) and instal superuser-3.0.7-efgi-signed.

Hi all.
I'm trying to copy some files to the system partition after enabling write on read-only partitions and remounting it and everything is success, but when I restart the phone, files get deleted and partition back to original. I tried ES file explore and Total Commander.
Galaxy S2, cMIUI 2.10 JB
Hmm.. seems like a hard question!

Hey,
no not a hard question but a bit confusing
So the copy to system works without probs?
Do u have root-enabled on it?
U can try Solid explorer once, too, to be sure.
CHEERS
I enabled root explorer and I mounted the file system to be writable, yes I have a rooted phone.
I can copy to system root folders anything (media files), the files stay there until I reboot the phone then they disappear, they get deleted maybe? how to disable that?
Thanks

That listen like u have to save changes?!
Pls try the Solid explorer (for me the best explorer ever)
Copy files and have a look for root-acces request (should be asked for Solid, if it's new)
The copy/replace the file.

Thanks Hannibal for reply, I got no luck on doing it, they still get removed after reboot. Is there a way to flash these files that I want to copy to system as an update.zip?

Sure there's a way, but I can't help u with it, sorry.
With new Titanium Backup u can create flashable .zips but for sure only from isntalled apps.
Maybe u have a look at google. I remind for a tool which u just say what u wanna flash an it creates the flashable .zip.
Much success....

Edit: Sorry but couldn't answer u yesterday.

I have tried a lot of custom Roms. I'm on Neat ROM Lite now. Not sure which ROM changed my file access permission settings to cause this problem but I'm not able to delete any files from my external memory card. I was able to delete when I was on stock rom. The other problem is for a few apps I get an error message which says can't install on usb/sd card. I have posted this in another thread
some time back but got no response. Some one please point me in the right direction.
This is what my file permission looks like.
PS: I am able to delete when my fone is connected to PC via USB. So I don't think it has anything to do with a faulty sd card.

Hey I know its been quite sometime now.but as ur advice I downloaded mobile terminal and now have to run the following command everytime I boot my fone:
mount -o rw,remount -t/yaffs2 /storage/extSdCard
Otherwise i do not get rw access to my external sd.Istn't there a permanent solution to this? Also I fail to understand what changed my permissions and why does this persist across all the new roms I flash?

Create a blank file and type that command in it. Now save it and rename it to 95mountsd with no extension
Now, if you have init.d support, place it in /system/etc/init.d and reboot
Command will run on every boot itself
Thank you, it worked. Now could please have a look at my other issue, in this post I'd be really thankful.
Can you please tell me what could be the reason for my default rw settings to change, coz I remember when I had stock os I never had to do all this.

Maybe the ROMs aren't mounting that special kind of partition your sdcard is having
FAT32 format works universally

Try this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=universal+init.d
Firstly I am a complete noob to root/roms etc etc, and my main goal was to increase the memory of my Samsung galaxy ace.
I have been unsuccessful after following advice in all different threads, so thought maybe if I started my own thread some lovely peeps around here may be able to help me get it sorted.
OK so what I've done so far
Rooted phone
installed cwm recovery
installed cyanogen mod 10.1
partitioned sd card to fat32 and ext3
installed int2ext+ script.
I used terminal emulator to get the script into the init.d folder following some prompts foud online, (using es file explorer I kept getting a read only message)
I formatted and mounted sd-ext via recovery menu
At the moment it still isn't showing the extra memory of the sd ext partition.
The current contents of the init.d folder are as follows:
00banner
40int2ext
50selinuxrelabel
90userinit
So if someone can point me in the right direction of what to do next because I am now comlpletely lost .
Thanks Guys!!!!!

Check permissions of other init.d script and set them the same way for the int2ext+. Or just delete the script and flash it directly from recovery.
