Can we use it? I'm a bit confused about this.
The latest I've heard is still no. I'm not sure why though.

You can use it with cm7, but not with stock based roms. I'm not sure about hellraised i9100 roms.
Nice to see you here. You have SGS II now?

boot to recovery and flash? what do you mean you cant use CWM on stock rooted rom?
Rom manager is not needed for cwm. It just makes things slightly easier.
Flash a kernel that has cwm and boot into it by the command 'adb reboot recovery', three button hold, or even the 14 toggle mod reboot button. And flash away.
Rom manager doesn't equal cwm. It's just one of the things it can do. But right now it's not 100% ready for our phones.

I've been using it on my cappy, and now with my Sgs2, no issues. But I'm a compulsive updater and obsessed with living on the edge.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Majority of other phones it does work 100%.
And it does work with our phones. Just not 100%. If used enough there will be a time that it messes up (primarily with stock based roms). Hopefully in the near future the bugs will be worked out so that it is 100% with our phones.

IMO..With the devs putting the extended power menu in the roms which allows you to reboot to recovery It makes life easier to get to cwm..I forgot all about ROM MANAGER a long time ago....

You can install joker kernel and undervolt as well as putting profiles thru setcpu. Lower screen brightness all the way down. Just a few if the top of my head.

Can i flash roms and kernels with only being rooted? Or do i need to unlock?
And whats being used on photon?
Does rom manager have cwm built in or does photon require a flashable cwm or bootstrap?
Seems everything is not as easy as was on the evo.

He has both options locked and unlocked and I don't think ron manager works for the photon

What do u mean by both version?
Links to locked version i dont think im gonna unlock but id like to try a new kernel compatible to stock rom
Im hearing rsd flash fails for almost everyone that tries and ends up bricking
If rsd flash method was 100% safe id try it.

Custom kernel REQUIRES unlock
First time I've heard of it consistently bricking phones and I rsd flash BOTH my mophos a couple times a week. Even when rsd says "fail" I've never had an issue when doing it properly (factory reset from settings/wipe from recovery/rsd flash).
Has anyone had luck installing Ubuntu on their I777?
I'm using the stock ROM that came from Rogers (canada telecom), and I've tried two different guides for installing ubuntu, neither of which have had any success.
The phone is rooted, but I'm assuming this is my stock ROM preventing me from doing things Rogers doesn't want me to do. I'm planning on switching to Cyanogen, but I figured I might as well just wait for stable cyanogen 9 instead of struggling to get 7.1 working.
you need a custom kernel like entropy and or siyha or whatever is called

I posted a guide about how to do this... it's really easy actually.

cheers.
This actually works on every Galaxy branded phone I've tried (as well as any android phone), as long as the file system is set up the same way... (with /sdcard being the internal and /sdcard/external_sd being the external SD.

Seriously???
that's really up to you - i went ahead and flashed the leaked official ATT ICS version and it's been working excellent. It does not have the Premium Suite but its got most everything else - and i also sideloaded the S-Note from the premium suite

flash unofficial best there is...hands down!
Have you ever rooted before? Installed an alternate recovery like CWM? Flashed a ROM? Created a nandroid backup? Cleared caches? Formatted system or data? Used ADB? Used Titanium backup? Run non-stock launchers? Modified system files such as build.prop?
If not, search for everything I just listed, and start reading. None of it is really hard to do, but having a basic understanding of each of those moving pieces is going to be key to running a stable custom ROM.
Most custom roms have install instructions in the OP. If the basic steps there confuse you, then please don't rush anything and START READING!
Good luck!

you can only install roms that are built for your specific device. Trying to install roms meant for other phones will likely break (aka "brick" ) your phone. So no, you cannot install the Galaxy Nexus ROMs on your Note
Luckily, our Note currently has several ICS options to pick from.
First, read up on how to install and use Clockworkmod Recovery (aka "CWM" ). Once again, only install the version that is mean for our i717 AT&T Note.
Then, as I said before, I recommend "The Unofficial v2.0 Beta4" as a stable first ICS rom. Go to its thread and start studying...
I love:

Go to the theme/apps section for battery mods or flash a custom rom like Omega or RGUI. There are also some other roms to check out.

A rom usualy doesn`t brick a device, the users lack of basic knowledge about flashing does! If you follow the procedure and readup on threads there is not much that can go wrong. But it`s up to you off course
THIS THREAD IS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL S3 VERSION, GO TO THE US THREAD FOR MODS, ROMS AND ROOTING.
I'm thinking of installing flapjaxxx kernel on my i717 running black star x, will this dump my current settings and contacts?
And what are the steps to do this (running cwm)?
It shouldn't. All I did was boot into recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, then install from sd card.

Glad you got it running. No telling what the issue was before
I bricked my phone, I want to know why
Hi.
First of all I apologize for my not so good English.
The thing is that I hard bricked my note i717 by flashing a wrong kernel and now I know that JTAG is my only option, but I want to know if they are going to be able to bring my phone back to life, I don't live in the US that is the reason why I want to be 100% sure before I send it.
I was experiencing some problems with the USB not being recognized by any computer, after searching and reading a lot of post it came dawn to an incompatible kernel (something to do with the fast-charge option) so I´ve tried to flash a fast-charge compatible kernel but I downloaded it wrong and BAM!!! my phone is just a brick now (kinda useful to hold the door)
Full info:
I had the stock AT&T rom, then flashed some other roms without problems until this one:
cm-10.1-20130304-experimental-quincyatt-m2, that's where the USB problems began... after that one I had pa_quincatt-2.57-20120122-201611 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686320)
My question is:
Is it possible to connect the device(you know the JTAG method http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0SX3iDuIZc ) now that it is hardbricked even if it wasn't recognized before bricking?
I appreciate the responses in advance.:laugh:
