Hello!
I come with an ideea.
Maybe somebody could bring some modification to Android OS.
It will be very nice if a geographical address could be linked to a navigation application like google maps, as emai:[email protected] do, or tel: do.
In email it can be something like Avenue Street, Number 23
or a GPS position "AN 234 123". I hope you will understand me.
Certainly it can be resolved from OS.
On a computer this can be done with jquery.
Now, you can find a lot of ways to share an address from google map, or a link, to an email address. How can be done reverse?
It will help a lot when you will be in your car, driving to a location and wanted very fast to have the address in google map with just a click on address link from the email you just received.
Thank you!

I previously had a Milestone and in the calendar app there any address I entered into the location field would be clickable and offer an option to open maps or navigate to it. In the samsung app I can add a location but it is not clickable. I have seen that you can open the map from the edit screen but this seems only to let you get a single map image rather than giving full functionality. Is there a setting somewhere I am missing?
Edit: I tried installing Jorte calendar and that has clickable address links working. When viewing the same event in both only Jorte allows me to click through.
Looking into this it seems the feature is simply missing from the samsung app rather than not activated and has been since the original galaxy. Is this something that can easily be modded?
I am needing this feature as well. When I had my captivate, stock did not have this but with the cognition rom it seemed to work. I don't know how it was modded to work. However, when I updated my captivate to the 2.2 stock firmware I897UCKB1, it had this feature. Now that I have a SGS2 its very disappointing that it doesn't have this again. I use the Clickable address location in calendar every day to get to appointments. It is so frustrating to have to open the appointment, edit the appointment, copy the address from location, hit home, open maps, hit search, paste the address, and hit search again while driving. This could all be done with one click if the location was clickable. I am willing to donate $15 to anyone able to give a solution using the SGS2 stock calendar app. Thanks.

The best i could think of is to do a search of the location before hand copy then copy the link to the description part on the calender entry. Also add the location snapshot (this is just a picture as you might have aready noticed). Now when the appointment pops up, just click the link(set it up to open with maps). This way you can getting the navigation running from the appointment itself.
add another one to the list of people who really need this feature.
i have just come from a year with a htc desire and its something i really miss.
This is a silly oversight. Something that other apps on the market implement without issue. I'm disappointed!
HERE is a free Send GPS Location Application.
You can use it to find your location, then lets you send a link with that location to a friend,
family member, business associate and so on.
When the intended recipient receives the link, they can click on it to open a dynamic map
that displays your location in real-time.
Rather than being yet another social network that you have to fill out a profile for,
invite friends, and all the other usual hassles,
It requires no registration or login.
senders and receivers can zoom in zoom out map,
and change map type, include roadmap satellite terrain hybrid.
what such a great work ... thank you

how do you feel about it by others?
Nice and useful app. I like knowing that it doesn't require registration. Oh, and I've posted it to the XDA portal.

email account switching
This is a great application, but I can`t select the email account to send the link, only by outlok mail; and I use an hotmail account
(WM6.5.3 HTC Rhodhium W)
please, add this feature
best regards
EDIT: I think it´s the official website (a little hard to find in gooogle)

Hello!
Someone knows how can i set my actual gps position to any contact?
example:
im in your house, and i want to set de adress to your contact im my phone. but does not edit the contact position and write by hand, any applications that take the current position and set as your home address.
thanks
depends on what gps software you are using
if any of your contacts has an address on the contacts list you can open it on google maps and set the navigation path but then I'm not sure exactly what you mean or want to do.
i want to know if have a software that defines my current position as the address of a contact of mine. i want to put my current position to a contact of the list. for when I need, open the contact's address in Google Maps. could understand? Thank you for your attention
Hi everyone. I've had a look around and couldnt find the answer to my question.
Basically I have a website and I use Google to provide a custom email address. For example if my website was XDA then my email address would be lazee_wolf@xda.com
I've tried and failed to add my email address to the email app on Android. My previous two phones were iPhones and they had no problem with the email address, they added the custom email address easily.
It seems weird to me that Apple's iOS accepts Google's custom email addresses as standard but Google' Android doesnt seem to. Could anyone help me set this up? I'm sure I'm not the only one!
Hey everyone, I wanted to get more information on how to create User Login in an app, say I wanted my users to login with there google or Facebook account and me able to upload photos, where would the accounts and photos be stored?
I know obviously on my own servers but could anyone point in the right direction more reading material would be great.
I'm just starting out in Android Dev, I'd like to get more information in creating these types of applications, thanks for your help. Appreciate it.

Their are a few ways to look at it.
1: How is the login suppose to function?
2: Client side or Server side?
3: The main login files are normally stored sever side.
4: What programming language and or crm are you using?
5: What ever your using for the base operation login would be where you will seek the help for that enviroment.
6: If you are logging in to anything.. Then you would go through a program you made or a web page viewed.
7: Are you trying to Api through apps to jack the login information to login to multiple places? Or one place?
8: Your question is good ,but you need to specify exactly what you want to do ,and the outcome.
9: Are you programing an apk app?
10: Are you making a ROM or ?
11: If you want a user to fly across from Google or Facebook then you would basically intercept the Api of the login and act as if your the actual program. That type of thing is Api related.
12: Every program has it's own programming and api calls and functions... Also special folders Vendor specific.....
Sorta like hacking the vendors api...
That would evolve into security protocols being tampered with. That's why they don't give out that information. But you could sniff the packets via a computer and send and receive responses and also do some reverse engineering on the Api.
Deep level stuff.
Not something people will just answer.
The answer is in the question please tell us from beginning to end what it is you want to accomplish.
