Bricked? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i tried to install the original firmware with odin,...
all went well but when it tried to reboot it got bootloop and now it wont connect to pc to retry, it says the usb has malfuntioned and i cant do anything, can anyone plz help?

if your odin process got success (was write on windows at the end of installation) u can bring to Samsung the phone coz seems its hardware problem.
Maybe are 2 different unrelated problem.
Btw now u have an original stock firmware (i repeat if odin was working properly) and u can use Samsung Warranty W/o Problem.
good luck mate.

It's almost impossible to brick this device... so... TAKE THE BATTERY OFF YOUR PHONE!
Wait 15 seconds
put it back in...
Hit: VOLUME DOWN + SELECT BUTTON + POWER BUTTON FOR A BIT UNTIL YOU SEE SAMSUNG GALAXY S2!
BAM!
You are in download mode!
Use Odin!
unless you used a pit file you should be fine just make sure you have only selected:
AUTO REBOOT + F.RESET TIME!
Flash original firmware in PDA and all will work ok

My vibrant got bricked ! can`t access to recovery mode

Image that you have a hardware locked vibrant and bricked !!
all the methods that was discussed about getting locked vibrant into recovery mode or even download mode has failed except the adb method which successfully got me to the download mode , I uploaded customized ROM and PIT in odin and that`s all the phone can`t be started not even showing battery bar or recognized by my laptop ..
does that mean it`s dead ??would it be covered by Samsung warranty ...
thanks in advance
as long as you can get to download mode it's never dead.. why would you flash a custom ROM immediately? try flashing a stock pit and tar 1st.. then once your recovered go to custom ROM
yea but my vibrant can`t be detected by PC so adb method wouldn`t work ....
I may try making a homemade JIG hoping it to force download mode ..
I know you said you try everything, but just incase, did you try turning on odin with stock pit and tar in, then plug in the usb, with the battery out. hold down volume + and - and then plug in the battery? Should bring you to "download mode" hit start. It work all the time for me. Sorry if you did try it, but it was just incase you havn't.

Only show me samsung galaxy s2 then siyahkernel and thast all. it is very strange. So i tried to put in recovery mode but i cant. only in download mode but only when i connect the phone with the computer. We need a lot more info. What did you flash, how did you flash it. Where did you get the firmware. I ask the last question because according to your profile, you just created this account today. Which tells me you got the firmware elsewhere.

To boot into recovery you want to release the buttons by the second Samsung logo pop-up. And don't plug into computer. That's for download mode.
Regardless, I don't see recovery being much help to you if Odin is not working for you.
Is odin showing that its successfully flashing your phone? After flashing back to stock with Odin, is the siyah logo at least gone?

Yes, but you need to describe everything you did and everything that happened to make you want to flash back to stock. Without knowing what caused the problem in the first place, we can't help you very much. You say you installed many roms (stock, custom). Your phone probably did not fail randomly. There is probably some event or circumstance you can think of, or change you made, just before it failed. Please be specific.

Hold the Vol+/- & PWR button at the same time, when seeing first boot, keep holding all 3, when past 2nd boot screen, release all 3.

[Q] Samsung S2 ICS rom suddenly stuck on load screen.

Please please please could anyone help!
About a month ago I upgraded to Ice cream sandwich (LP7) and then rooted my S2. All worked fine for 3 or 4 days and then suddenly it crashed for no reason. I suspect, but am not sure, that it did an automatic update. On rebooting it just stops at the Samsung S2 screen with a yellow triangle.
For the last few weeks i have been trying to find a fix, but am at my wits end now.
I have gone through the different solutions on your site but to no avail also where mine seems to be different is that I can get into boot mode and odin always says its successful. I have tried different pc and usb cable too just in case that was an issue
I can not get into Volume up mode, but i can get into boot mode with volume down. I have tried re loading a few different rom's and Odin says that the transfer was successful each time, however it is still stuck at the same place on reboot.
Tried reloading kernel and re partitioning, and again Odin said it went OK, but still stuck on start screen.
Tried using a jig and turned phone on, but it the phone just went to the start screen again.
If i could just get into reset mode, i could clear the memory, but this is not working either.
If anyone could help i would be very so grateful.
Thanks
Terry

That is a special .tar edition. You simply flash it just like a single file firmware (as PDA).

I think your data partition is corrupt, but you can still get it solved.
You need to special .pit file. I'll post you the link (for the .pit file and instructions) very soon
Try this it worked for me

Try this I did and it worked to get mine booting after a bad update.
I messed around with it using several methods of getting it to boot into download mode until I finally got it to do it. I think I left it plugged into the USB, powered it down until I saw the charging screen, then I proceeded to play with the different ways to hold the buttons to get it to download mode. If you are persistent enough and read a little on booting methods to get bricked phone into download mode you will succed if not then your not for the world of trial and error... the main thing is do the first steps I said before until it works
1. Get into Download Mode (WITH THE PHONE PLUGGED IN) by following the steps below
*Turn off the phone until you get to the charging battery screen (keep in mind, your phone is currently PLUGGED IN)
*Press volume up and down, and power all at once.
*As soon as the screen turns black, release your power button.
2. Unplug phone from USB
or try
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
any how try try try until it works
Once in download mode
Get your files together for your phone, and use Odin 1.85.
Plug into Odin and make sure it shows yellow and its added!
1. Now if your files have like 3 files and the exact .pit file for your phone if available.
I found mine here (Find yous stock firmware for your phone)
2. Click the PIT button and browse to your exact .pit file for your phone *It should now have added a check in the re-partition box under the options area of the Odin window. If not CHECK IT!
***If you don't have your .pit don't worry about this unless you suspect, or have a bad partition
3. If you have just 1 file just click the PDA button and load the file. If you have 3 then you will load the PDA file in PDA, the Modem file into PHONE, and the CSC file into CSC, there are way too many phones to link all the files so get you stuff together!
4. Now hit start.
5. When done and the phone shows the first sign of starting up IE Logo or whatever... immediately unplug the battery from the phone to shut it down.
6. Now put it back in and start it in Upload mode by pressing Vol Up, Home at the same time then the Power button.
7. As soon as the phone shows the first sign of starting up IE Logo or whatever let go of all buttons and using the Vol Up down Choose the Clear Cache option and go through and make sure you factory reset it if you can just for good measure.
8. Reboot
9. Now when the phone shows the first sign of starting up IE Logo or whatever take out battery again to power off
10. Now put it back in and start it in Download mode by pressing Vol Down, Home at the same time then the Power button.
11. Once in download mode Hook up to Odin again and flash it with a root kernel for your phone. Do not ask me just find it. I did it took time but I got all the files together over several days of reading and collecting the correct ones.
12. When done and the phone shows the first sign of starting up IE Logo or whatever... immediately unplug the battery from the phone to shut it down.
13. Now put it back in and start it in Upload mode by pressing Vol Up, Home at the same time then the Power button.
14. In most roots you will now have a advanced or mounting options and more options to use.
15. I cleared the Cache again, Cleared the Davilik Cache, Went into a option and actually mounted the cache formatted the Cache.
16. Use the option now to restart the phone...
And mine started up installed the apps and I am up and running, nice and smooth and no issues so far
I hope this helps out someone whos just about to go off the deep end, as I was there and patience and trial and error came up with this step by step way to recover mine. Thank me by hitting the little thumbs up THANKS button below this post.
And if your so happy your phone is up show your appreciation by buying me a Pepsi

[Q] Galaxy S II GT-9100 shows: Firmware upgrade encountered an issue after unrooting.

Hello everybody,
About 2 months ago I rooted my Galaxy S II and flashed the Resurrection Remix Jelly Bean ROM v3.0.6 for Galaxy S2 i9100 with a Siyah kernel. (As I am new to this forum I can't post links, but I got it from Galaxys2root . com
But yesterday I encountered an issue and my phone was shutting down constantly, so I decided to unroot it/flash back to stock ICS firmware.
I used galaxys2root . com(galaxy s2 unroot) too to try unrooting it .
I used Odin3 v1.85 to flash the stock firmware but it just stopped at about 75% (stupid as I am I forgot to write down the error.)
CWM was installed with the root but I don't have it anymore so I can't use recovery to use a backup (which I had made) and when I got in download mode in the top left it says Product Name:GT-9100
Custom Binary Download: Yes (2 counts)
Current Binary: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
Also my PC doesn't recognize my phone in Odin, even when reinstalling Samsung Kies.
When I boot my phone it now says: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
But as Kies doesn't work, it won't even start on my PC, I don't know how to fix my phone,
The main problem is that Odin does not recognize the phone even when reinstalling drivers and Kies, with Odin working I could flash the CF-Root or would that be dumb to do?
Now the question: How can I get my phone back to work?
Thanks.
click on volume up + home key + power to boot into recovery and then do a factory reset, after reset cleck go back, then reboot phone.
If it is a software issue, your phone should work.

Well, I tried that but the message keeps showing up, I can only reach download mode. It looks like the root is gone?
Also, do you mean recovery like CWM Recovery or is there a standard recovery on the S II?
there is a standard recovery on the phone which is replaced when rooted to a newer version.
If something has happen to the root, it should default back to recovery 3e that comes with the phone.
okay I am going to try the following: Removing battery, put it back in, Volume up+Home button+Power button and I'll see what happens.

Still getting the same error message..
Would it work if I use a .PIT file and check re-partition in Odin? (if i get Odin to recognize the phone, maybe on another pc)
You might want to try all pc's usb ports, the usb cable and also download an older/newer Odin version.
If non of the above works, it's time for you to try another PC.
PS: you did read this, right?
ok just got back from school, I would try it now if my telephone would work.
problems seem to have got worse, I charged it the whole night, atleast, I thought i did. I just put it in download mode when it gives me the message:
"Load Battery!! Can't download!!" do you know how I can make this work?
So at this point my main problem ,besides the battery, is that I can't get Odin to detect my phone but I will try it on another computer.
take bat off and reinsert it.
I don't know what to put here...any ideas?
well, I don't know if it matters but my phone doesn't display the charging screen. Is that a problem?
hum....yeah.
I don't know what to put here...any ideas?
and it doesn't say "load battery" it says "low battery" But that is almost the same
I don't think so....never heard that expression before.
I don't know what to put here...any ideas?

charge your bat in another device, or manually.
I don't know what to put here...any ideas?
I will charge it first, and use another phone, and then try the guide you linked to and then report to you.
tried it on another pc and it still doesn't work, Odin3-v1.85 does not detect my phone. If it would I could get it back to work but without Odin the only option I can think of is sending it back to Samsung, without warranty, and paying it myself. Or are there more ways to get Odin to detect it, or are there other tools like odin?
Do all Checklist:
Reinstall PC drivers
Charge your phone, just plug it in a charger atleast 5 hours.
Boot to recovery.
Flash using this guide
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...t/482994-rooting-galaxy-s2-dummies-guide.html
and go to Jelly bean!!! leave ICS...
That Tut worked for me...
Check Odin version aswell is that the latest?
ok I will try that, I'm going to charge it now. Btw how do you reinstall PC-drivers? Reinstalling Kies or the Samsung Drivers?

Should I do this while it is in download mode?
I will try to explain what happened: I was flashing the stock ICS firmware, it was doing the FACTORYFS (don't know if it is a file) when it suddenly failed, but Odin still detected my phone. I retried it and that probably made it worse because after that Odin didn't detect my phone anymore. And that is the main problem

[Q] Galaxy Ace Bricked

Hi everyone. I'm very disperate. My phone just got bricked ( I think ). I got bricked once but I unbricked it with odin and so on. In this evening, I throw my phone to the ground (No concret, just on my room carpet) and the battery just went out. I put back the battery but when I wanted to start the phone, it won't start. I press the start button but nothing. Then, I tried to enter in BIOS, but nothing. But, suprisely, the DOWNLOAD mode work and I tried to install the stock rom (I had a custom rom). It downloaded the rom in Odin, all worked perfet, till' it had to restart then, again, nothing. I'm disperate, my phone is DEAD? (

I did that. But, the problem is that when it restarts it won't turn on.
Use the repacked firmware.
Its like 's5830ixxla3_xxxx_xxxx_ato_repacked.zip'
It's the only one that worked for me when this happens
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda app-developers app
LOL
first things first, why would you throw your device to the ground just because it was bricked ?? (specially if you know the it can still be revived) .. my s5830i bricks almost all day because i've been experimenting with it,
ok here's what you atta do,
1. download Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i Stock ROM on the net
2. Download Odin 1.84 (for some reason latest version can't detect Ace-i even under Odin Mode)
**NOTE: type in GOOGLE Odin for S58630i, with that you will get the .pit file or something with it ( lazy me )
3. Now boot your Ace-i to Odin Mode (Vol Up + Vol Down + Power)
4. FLASH ROM.
EDIT: i uploaded Odin3 v1.84 so that you don't have to download it anymore, here's what you have to do
of course, download Stock ROM first
1. Run as Admin
2. locate .pit file [included in .zip file]
3. set proper files
MODEM = PHONE
CSC = CSC
PDA = PDA
4. Boot Ace-i to Odin / Download Mode [Vol Up + Vol Down + Power]
5. Press Volume Up
6. Flash
7. Wait patiently [it took seconds for me to flash Stock ROM]
8. Reboot Device
now you're good
Hit Thanks if i helped

Could be a hardware issue as Hitesh2626 suggested. Better take it to the Service Center
