Today ever since lunch my vibrant has had a reddish tint? its like red with a little bit of blue and its really annoying me. i tried reflashing cyanogen mod but that didnt do anything! i havent wet it or anything so im confused as to why tis is happening. its like a slight red tint.
Go into voodoo control app. Towards the bottom select on gamma hack and choose default 2.3.3

Maybe you set your phone to 3D mode
Ok, joking aside that's really strange. Try backing up, then using odin to go back to stock. Once on stock see if your phone still has this issue. If it does you may have a hardware problem. If it's gone, try re-flashing Cyanogen.
yeah i did all that before posting this. and i thought i accidently put it in some 3d mode lol. so i guess it is a hardware problem. damn it. i just got this phone...
How recently did you get it? Is it under warranty?
I got it saturday and im not sure. my dad sent it to me.
Flash back to cm7, put on a voodoo color kernel and use the voodoo control app... then ggo into rgb multipliers and lower your red, maybe your blue.. play with those till you acheive perfection
.. i spent some time until my screen became perfect, witb snow whites and vibrant colors now i get satiafied by just looking at my phone every day

could i do all that using miui?

I've been having a very strange, but rare, problem when running 3D games. It seems to only occur with certain kernels. I have no idea what else could be causing it. It has happened to me only three times since I got my Vibrant in Sept, but it's pretty scary.
What happens it's kinda hard to describe and even harder to reproduce. When I play any relatively heavy 3D game the phone performs flawlessly then randomly freezes completely. The soft-key lights still react to touch and turn off normally, but I'm unable to restart by holding down the power key for 15 seconds, leaving no choice but to do a battery pull. While this is happening, the screen (frozen in the game) starts to present very bright thin horizontal transparent white lines. These lines will keep appearing until they cover the whole screen. In the end it looks like the screen had lost all colors except shades of green and the rest has turned white.
This has never happened with 100% stock, stock+Voodoo kernels, Bali, or Overstock (didn't OC). It has happened, if I remember correctly, with Dragon (didn't OC), some other kernel I can't remember, and, just now, with DragonMODz SSSJ (OC'ed at a mere 1.1GHz). Maybe it's a problem with OC-able kernels only? Maybe it has to do with uncapped FPS? Maybe it's a simple problem that is all over the forum, but I couldn't find it?
Any help/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I think it happened to me too but im not sure... what rom are you using??? And i'd suggest you to use trigger wit the kernel called BULLET flash those and your phone is goin to be super fast... i play 3D games on my phone and i dont have any issues so far so i'd suggest u to flash both kernel and rom and your phone should b faster....

I'm currently on Trigger with stock KB5+Voodoo kernel. I've tested it with hours of Asphalt 6 and Gangstar 2 and didn't have any problems so far. I'm still not sure what causes the problem, so I'm not gonna go adventuring with OCable kernels just yet.
Well i flashed this ROM about twenty minutes ago and followed all the steps but my screen looks weird. Its blue, hello and green. it looks as if you where looking at someone with like heat radiation vision. Please help.
Try reinstalling the ROM. I had the weird color screen a couple times causing my phone to crash.

i did this twice. i didnt work
You sure it's not just the Voodoo color settings that are messed up?
If not.. your screen might have gone bye-bye. :c
I just got my first gs3 5 days ago. Love it, but yesterday i noticed a dot on the screen in the lower left quadrant. I could only see it when the screen was off and under direct light. I tried cleaning it, but it was still there, i could also feel a little abrasion when i ran my finger over it. So i take it back to best buy, tell them what's up and they swap it out, no problem. The guy said it could have been either an air bubble in the screen, or the chip could have over heated causing a "blister" to raise up. "Weird cause I've only had it for a few days, and haven't even rooted it yet" So i get it, had to go to work right after so i didn't have much time to play with it. I wake up this morning and i notice that when the screen is on a black background, like the messaging app, or something similar, i can see a "darker" dot in around the same place where i had the problem on my last one, i can also see several other smaller ones around the screen. The dots are easy more noticeable when i turn the brightness up. This is the 16 gig Sprint model, is anyone else having similar issues with their phones? I'm going to go back up there tomorrow to try and swap it out again, hopefully they don't give me and flak about it.

Known issue on this type of screen. There is another thread burried somewhere about it. Every gs3 phone has it.

Not every screen has this. However over time every screen will have the problem. As far as I can tell I have none. Plus the other model that I had also didn't have any dots that I could see. I know it could have also been minimal. but it is a known issue with these screens has the other poster stated. Worth returning over? I don't think so.
I could understand having this problem a year down the road, but 1 day after first turning on the phone! That sounds a little much. I think I'll try returning it one more time...maybe 3rd times a charm?

That's AMOLED for ya. If you only see one dot...you're lucky. Hope you don't get one with 5 or more.
The dots/bleed marks should NOT be more visible when you turn the brightness up, they should be less visible at higher brightness.
Take it back, get another one. Keep doing it until you're satisfied.

+1!
Also I have an ATT model. I checked a friends and I didn't see any one his as well. He also had ATT. Not that it matters much just saying.
Also you can use this app...CHange your brightness up as far as you would like to help check for the dots/ink...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImRlLmxhcHBlLnRpbS5hbmRyb2lkLmxjZHRlc3QiXQ..
Great small app. Also helps to see if you have any dead pixels!
hope this helps you out...
Cheers...
Thanks for the app recommendation. Tried it and didn't see any dead pixels or dots on any of the screens. In fact, i can't see the dots that i did before! I don't know if it's because it's brighter out versus when i was looking last night? I guess I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days and see if it gets worse. Would this problem get worse over time or is this just something that is there and will always be there? Thanks.

I would have kept the first one, if you're critical enough you can find some kind of a defect in any phone.

From what I understand it can get worse as time goes on. same with any burn ins and so on. Again this is what I understand. By the this time next year I will be replacing this device anyways in most cases unless nothing good comes out.
i wouldn't worry about it if its gone. Could it have been some type of bleed effect or something? I don't know. I'd just watch it for now. Check it so often. If you end up not minding it (If there even if an issue..) then i would keep the device. At higher brightness settings is when you can see it from my understanding. Again I could be 100% wrong. Wouldn't be the first time!
Cheers...

In mine you can only see it in just the right light. Dull light.

Yeah, I'm just going to keep it i think unless something drastic happens. I could only see it when it was dark and i had to look hard for it, but with these devices you want it to be flawless. Thanks for the comments and such. I'll keep an eye on it for the time being.

My phone seems to have an issue where in cold weather or an air con room strange grey and white lines flicker across the bottom centimeter or so of the screen, distorting the image. Even in just mildly chilly weather (around 26 degrees celsius) I get this issue. However if I heat the phone up by playing a graphic intensive game or the like, they go away. Anybody else have this problem?

Nah, I'm pretty chill, and it was amusing, plus I'm happy for the bump.
Anyway, new question - can somebody recommend some overvolting/overclocking settings that I can use to make my phone hot? Because as it is now even at room temp I get those lines, I'm not too sure anymore that heating things up will get rid of them, but it's worth a shot.

I suggest a warranty replacement. Who wants their phone to have to stay constantly heated. Not sure how much to over volt to for the i777 but I use no frills app for clock work on my tab

Sadly that's not an option as I bought it used (but mint) and unlocked (where I live phones don't come with contracts, so you shell out about 700$ for a new high end phone). It worked fine for the first month, then things went weird a week ago...no idea what the problem could be. I ordered a new battery and am flashing back to stock to see if it's a software issue, but I doubt either of those will solve it.

Seems unlikely, as even in recovery, etc I get those lines - and screenshots show up perfectly fine, with no artifacts that would indicate a problem with the gpu.

I too agree. Although it is completely different, I got the same thing on my Xbox 360. Checkerboard/white and black lines are indicators of a bad gpu. I have since stopped using it but it will eventually lead to the red ring.

If it was the GPU is should show up in a screenshot, no? Anyway, I'll try to get a technician to have a look at it and see if he can do anything.
It's really weird though how the problem disappears once the temperature reaches 40 degrees celsius. I really can't figure this thing out.

hey I have the same issue on my phone.Grey horizontal lines appeared on the screen. Only 1/3 of my phone screen is in normal condition without grey lines. When I used my phone at the outdoor approximately under 6 deg celcius, 2/3 of my phone screen were then covered by dark screen!!! However, when i go to a warmer place and restart my phone few times then it had gone better condition yet the grey lines still appear there. May I know have you solved your phone screen issue?? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
As said before, GPU. My old Xbox did the same thing but if I put a heater behind it it would be fine. Sounds like the soldering is bad to be honest.

Unfortunately I have not been able to solve it, at this point heat no longer matters. Whether the phone is hot or cold I still get about the same amount of grey lines. You can try to take it in to get checked for faulty screen or gpu, but where I live the repairshop didn't have the necessary parts.

Hey guys well this is really bugging me and I'm gonna see if I can't fix it well my fascinate has always had a defect its not as bright or sharp as other fascinates its never really bothered me I just crank the brightness all the way up well it really pissed me off last night me and my sis were watching the same movie on both our fassys the green hornet well while I was struggling to see what was happening hers was sharp and so bright it was lighting up the whole car well it pisses me off that I'm not getting the full power of my amolod display any ideas? I've seen some screen calibration qpps that supposly work miracles for phones like mine but they only work for GB and down so just leave your replies please

I would at least flash the stock rom and see if those software fixes actually work, then you can at least know that it's possible to have it that way on JB, but if not then it might mean you should do a hardware replacement of your screen
