Hi guys
I've got an HD2 Stock ROM 1.66 WWE. I'm trying to find an app which allows me to enable kinetic scrolling for a number of windows mobile apps, rather than applying text selection and having to use the scroll bar on the side (apps like Epocrates, Skyscape and UptoDate). I find using the scroll bar painfully slow to be frank
I've found a solution of sorts in FtouchSL (using v2.10). Unfortunately this program has a default setting in that it automatically applies its own settings for all apps, and you need to manually enter any "exceptions". I've tried this out, but there are literally hundreds of exceptions I would have to add, and there are some things that don't seem to work at all (e.g. scrolling through favourites in the Internet Tab of HTC Sense after clicking the favourites soft-key on the bottom left, or trying to pick a lock screen tab wallpaper in the "settings" menu).
I know these are relative small things, but I was wondering if anyone was familiar with an app which would allow me to enable kinetic scrolling for only select apps, rather than for all of them with me having to add "exceptions"
epocrates
hi holdup,
epocrates and all other windows mobile apps run on ultrashot because he created and added a finger friendly scroll in his windows mobile 6.5 rom for htc hd2. try it out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233056
Hi. New to Android. Just loaded CM7 on TouchPad32GB and overclocked and paired HP TouchPad BT keyboard and using new Mozilla Firefox Mobile browser and The BT keyboard running on CM7 Alpha 3.5 on Touchpad to make this post.
A couple related config questions:
1. How to set the CM7 default virtual keyboard continues to dismiss itself or is their a key to manually toggle VKB on/off?. (In WebOS, the VKB will auto dismiss itself when key pressed on BT keyboard. And key on both the VKB and the BT keyboard to toggle the VKB to display on screen).
2. The BT keyboard has arrow cursor keys to navigate through text, which work in WebOS. But apparently not with CM7, at least in this forum post I am editing. Any suggestions for mapping those keys to make work with CM7?
3. Similar issue in regards to the Tab key.
4. How to create web brower URL shortcuts in app launcher pages. I can create shortcuts to apps as well as to Firefox, but have not discovered how to set properties for shortcut with a specific URL and firce that shortcut to launch in a specified brower (Firefox vs stock web browser).
5. Having trouble editing this post. That is I find I'm sometimes unable to touch within a text paragraph to edit one character. Mabe a Firefox Mobile brower issue and how it is behaving with vbulletin?
Since I'm newbie I have to wit five minutes to edit this post. cry cry.
6. What is the proper way to shut down apps when done using? Clearly I don't understand Android methodology in this regard. In WebOS just swipe card off screen. In Windows click the close box. I see no such metaphor in CM7 on the TouchPad.
So another question. How to show various current running apps? Many app services are auto running and sucking up memory. Would love to know how to identify running apps/services/processes in an on screen taskbar of some sort.
Thanks for any suggestions.
You can install Null Keyboard and set it as the default input method when you are using the bluetooth keyboard:

As far as the tab key Droid users with a physical keyboard have wondered why it doesn't work like it does on Windows and it could be due to the fact that MS has a patent on it:
http://www.geek.com/articles/law/microsoft-patents-tab-button-use-2004098/
If you are using Firefox Mobile there is a little hack you can do to get the tablet UI. Go to "about:config" in the URL bar, find the setting "browser.ui.layout.tablet" and change it from -1 to 1. This will force the new tablet UI.
About memory and running apps, you should read up on how Android manages running apps. Basically apps will stay in the RAM in an idle state (little or no CPU cycles being used) until that RAM is needed by another program. In Android many apps save their last state so even when they are eventually killed and reopened it will still look like they never closed. There are task killers out there but from what I've heard on Gingerbread they aren't worth it.
Hello,
I'm new on this forum, and I didn't have find answer to my question on the previous thread, so I open a new one.
Since the upgrade from android 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 (and now on ICS 4.0.3.) (all official ROM for Samsung), one of the functionality of the browser does not work anymore:
Previously with a double tap on the screen, the browser zoom to fix the width of the paragraph and allow scrolling only on the vertical axis, locking the horizontal movement.
Now, the zoom doesn’t fix to the width of the paragraph anymore and scrolling is in both directions… It’s not easy to read a web page with this zooming and scrolling feature.
So first of all, have I missed an option some were? If not, is there application or other browser providing this feature?
Qrun
This is a leaked ICS 4.0.3 can call it beta. Official will be coming next month.
Regarding stock browser. Open Browser - Settings (Menu) ->Advanced -> scroll down to Auto-fit pages . Tick that box.
Restart browser.
The pages should now only able to scroll up & down.
And dont request desktop site from browser to avoid the horizontal scroll issue
Thanks for your answer, it partially fixed the problem of the zoom, but did not solve the problem of scrolling.
I have found a partial solution with Dolphin HD : I use the fit to screen and adress the scrolling on the volume button, but it's not as convenient as the utilisation of the touchscreen.
Updated my Vodafone firmware about a week ago, now running the BULP7 4.0.3 firmware.
In the previous version of the standard browser, when scrolling down large web pages, you could reveal the task bar at any point by changing to scrolling up. Now you need to scroll all the way back up before the task bar can be revealed. I used to use this lots when wanting to select another bookmark, without having to scroll all the way to the top of the web page. There's a new sidebar that can be switched on at any point when browsing, but it doesn't let you access the bookmark icon.
Anyone have any advice? I've tried most browsers, but settled on the standard one when they implemented the task bar enabling in the last version, would prefer to stick with the standard browser - maybe I'll see if I can hunt down the previous apk.

By "task bar", are you referring to the address bar? It also shows when you press the menu button, doesn't it?
And I don't think my standard browser ever did this. (show the address bar when switching scrolling from down to up) Though, the newer versions of Dolphin Browser did.

I guess it is the address bar, and the previous version of the standard browser certainly made the bar visible when changing from scrolling down to scrolling up, regardless of whether you were at the top or bottom of a webpage. This was the only thing that meant stayed with the standard browser. But with the new version of the browser, you need to scroll all the way back up for it to be visible.

Ah, things are different on the ICS browser from the GB browser. Sorry. I'm unable to answer this question.
Aha, you mentioned the menu button made it visible. I've now discovered if I hold down the menu button it eventually makes the address bar visible. If I just select the menu button I get the menu list for browser settings.
Maybe not a complete fix, but I'll see how I get on with this.
Another tip for you is to hold the back button to get direct access to your bookmarks. Hope that helps out a little.
go into the settings menu then to lab and enable fullscreen and the other option then you can get a action to show address bar from touching the edge of the screen.

Hello everyone, I would like to ask you, what cool iPhone apps do you know? I like Apple and what kind of product it makes. But I would love to find cool apps for their phones and computers as well.
Hi everyone. Can you recommend some apps for iphone:
-FTP server (so I can browse my iphone on my PC)? ES file explorer apk has FTP server on Android but their IOS version only has FTP client.
- App to reduce vertical size of keyboard
- Floating menu/back button app?
- Process manager: something to show running processes like on android/windows
Thanks
I am not an expert and i haven't jailbreak my iphone (i don't thing i will do it any time soon...), but i will try to answer:
- the only way to sent any kind of data to iphone is through itunes software. I don't believe there is another way.
- keyboard can be changed in size. Go to settings -> general -> keyboard. There you can enable one hand keyboard (left or right hand). It changes the vertical size.
- There are no button in iOS. Only gestures. The "back" gesture can be done by moving your finger from the far left side of screen to the right.
- Running applications can be viewed by moving your finger, from the bottom of screen, up. There is a video that might help you:
