Is there a way to connect to a wifi connection THROUGH a proxy? There's no such option in this phone. I'm using mik's CM7.
Use orbot from the market. It's tor for Android

Maybe this is not the right place for my question, but - What are the benefits of this?

With a proxy, you can do several things. One good example: In your country, www.somerandomwebsite.com might be blocked. With a proxy, you might actually be able to access that website as you will be given a different ip address.

Any automated programs to hack the 3g hotspot app? The droids have the team black hat patcher that you flash via cwm. Shouldn't it be just as easy to do for us instead of the manual method on a pc?

Check in the themes and apps section for an app called Quick Settings. I tried it and can confirm the wifi hot spot in that apps works. However I have done the manual hack as well.

I thought that app only activated the hotspot app, not hack it

You can use qpst to adjust your phone settings. This is the hack you want, it works. You gotta follow some directions... search the forums here, or droidforums, you will find a thread with everything you need

I was asking specifically for a way to do it without the use of software on a pc and manually making the changes... including qpst... or anything software on occasion related... if possible

Hello, for the first time in trying to use stock os on a phone, only thing i have changed is i have rooted the phone. So i don't have option to use built in WiFi hotspot, so my question is which app is a good replacement to get the same functionality as built in hotspot?

Wifi tether...
t-mobile sgs3 stock rom/rooted
Wifi Tether from Play Store works just fine for me!
For wired tethering, I choose to use dropbear, forward a port through adb and create a tunnel over SSH. This way I can use my phone's data connection in one browser (as a proxy), and regular connection in another. Useful for browsing at work.
+1 for WiFi tether for Root. Make sure to select generic ics for the profile.

I didn't have much success searching Google for this, so hopefully you blokes can point me in the right direction.
I'm trying to find an app that will bypass the WiFi check in other apps, so they can work when connected via mobile network and VPN.
Any thoughts?
