Chrome will not download files why? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I try to download any type of file using the built in google chrome browser it does not work. It says it starts to download and it finishes, but all it downloads is garbage. I can download a 10 meg file, but instead it downloads like 8 KB and says its finished. If I use Firefox or Dolphin browser it works fine. Is their a setting in the chrome browser that I need to enable for it to download properly?

Flashlite 3.1

Hi,
I have an XDA Star, with originam rom and downloaded Anryl and Dvha79 Flashlite 3.1 cab, so what is the diffrents, and which one works with this phone?
The official version from adobe is not out yet.
This leaked version works pretty much like flash lite 2.1 with more bugs...
Doesnt read correctly some flash commands and I cant open any webpage above flash 7 on any browser.
Just for a reference:
Flash lite 2.1 = Flash 7 with a few specific commands for mobile.
Flash lite 3.1 = Flash 8 (with FLV support)
Flash 7 = Flash 7 (lol)...
oh ok, I was just wondering why youtube and myvideo doesnt run with Opera 9.5 15529
Is FlashLite Freeware?
Yes it is, you can get it on the adobe site.
No Website works with flash, not by Internet Explorer and not in Opera,
http://www.lustigestories.de/fun/videos/videos_show.php?video_id=26
Its a regular flashfile but nothing show at browser, but when im donloading the file I can open it with flashlite...
With flash 7 installed you can see any site exported in flash 7 or below...
Even my website, wich was exported in flash 8, shows the parts that have flash 7 code, the rest he cant, but at least it shows something...
Is this diffrent Flash 7 and FlasLite 2.1???
I was thinking it was the same...
Cool youtube works with FlashPlayer7 and the Opera Version thx...
Please note: to enable Flash support in Opera, you need a special DLL file and ou this file into \Opera9\plugins and edit your ini!
I did just install flasplayer 7 cab from adobe and restart my phone and opera plays youtube movies...
So now I cant open swf files on my phone, because "Windows" didnt find an program for these files...
Use smartflash:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-smartflash-v1-0.html
BTW, Animelover, I never got flash lite 3 working with opera, did you?
nope it didnt work...
well, you can only open flash 7 files.. :/
Flashlite 2.1 was preinstalled on my device, and befor I installed FlashPlayer7 I could open swf files via filebrowser but now i cant cos the device tell me that there is no application for this file type...
Theres probably some way to assign the player to the extension, I know you can in Resco... But you can manually open it too. :/
That got me thinking...
I can make a flash exe that opens other swf's...
The way it opens the swf files by name is still a little complicated, but once inside I could make it rotate, strech, zoom, play, stop, etc etc...
Not sure how it would behave in non-flash7 files and it would be limited to read from a specific folder, but it -may- work better than most flash readers out there...

[Q] Receive *.htm file when trying to download apk file from browser? Why?

When I download an APK file from my browser (stock or dolphin), it will only download as *.htm, and the file is obviously too small to be an app in most cases. Am i missing something? I am rooted, this happens on stock ROM and Blur, and now GladiAtrix 3.
Can anyone shed some light? I am able to download on PC then sideload to phone, but I just want to be able to download APK direct from browser.
This is about my 6th Android phone, and I haven't come across this issue before.
Thanks
You must hold your finger on the downlink link.
Then you choose save target or somethig like that.
If that still does not work install this:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hwkrbbt.downloadall&feature=search_result
Use Firefox 4, or dolphin mini, Dolphin HD and stock navigator can't download apk file
I agree with firefox 4. I used to use Opera 10 but its not compatible with our devices and Opera 11 doesnt allow downloading apks. I've used miren and xscope, both don't work. The only working one is firefox 4. give it a try.
And its certain websites too. I'm gunna guess you're trying to download from filesonic.. lol.

Issue with downloading and unpload Torrents

I have 2 browsers installed the default and Firefox 6.0Beta, (I also have tTorrent installed for fun, maybe I'll use it some day) I have been trying to use both of them to download a torrent file, which I will then upload to a separate server via a web UI. Now I've failed with both browsers.
First neither of them like to down a torrent, they either want to open it in tTorrent (even though it is not set as the default Application for anything), or else they do not want to do anything when I click on the Download button (which work in a desktop browser), if I download them by long holding and selecting download link then I get a torrent file in downloads, but I can not upload this file to the remote server, as again neither browser wants to do that I select it and click on upload in the browser and nothing happens.
One of the major things I wanted to do with the phone was be able to select a torrent download it and then upload it to a remote server for processing. This process worked on an old WM phone, which is what has me stumped.
The remote download site can be any say ubuntu (which is what I was using as a test earlier, the upload site is running torrentflux-b4rt and it works from Chrome and FF on the Desktop. Lastly how can I change the default location of Downloads and only downloads to an external SD card? I know I can change everything, but all I want to change is the Downloads folder.
Thanks,
ERIC

[Q] [Help] Cannot play video on web pages (only if is from youtube)

Every time I try to play a video inserted in a web page (as the video posted in facebook when accessed form web browser), it appears an error message "this video cannot be played".
- In the facebook stock app, when clicking on video, a messaje appears: "The requested page does not exists"
- I can play the video only if it it comes from youtube
- I cannot install flash player for android ICS (my system is Jelly bean 4.2, but it shouldn't care), I get a parse error. I also have tried to install it from a folder different from the download folder, but without success. I have read in the forums that if I copy the apk to another folder (e.g. mnt/odb) and try to install from it, I will succeed, but those folders are banned for writing, so I couldn't copy on it.
- When I press and hold the video, the only options available are "copy image, save as background, and so on"
- I have installed MX player and Vplayer, hoping that when i open the video I'd be prompted to choose among the players installed, but, it always opens it with the stock player.
- I have accessed the pages in the mobil and desktop mode, but without success. In desktop mode I was told to update the flash player to play the video (I cannot install flash player)
- I have tried photon browser (it includes flash player), I could install it externally, but it behaves in a strange manner: it is not compatible with my device,
- I also tried boat browser, lighting browser (it can activate/deactivate flash player, but it is not installed in my phone), puffin is tricky (not available all day long) so i didnt tried it, firefox crashes after using it shortly.
My system: generic chinese smartphone (ALPS mini S4), android 4.2, 256 mb ram,118 flash ROM, SD card 4GB, CPU cortex A9 single core
The phone performance is pretty well for an unbranded phone.

you need Downloader Browser-Plugin 1.0
Have the same problem with my new "Vodafone TV" box and couldn't find any solution in the internet. Tried loading the browser plugin suggested above but same error message! The downloader app just simply won't connect to the net, period!!!
So, anyone has a solution, or as the op said, can anyone suggest an alternative?
Pitching in, as I'm a new Shield user with the same issue. Here's the page from AFTnews explaining the issue and the work-around; includes an installation video.
aftvnews.com/browser-plugin-now-available-for-downloader-app-on-android-tv
In short, browser capability had to be removed from the Google Play version so the app could remain in the store. The dev provides an APK at browser.aftvnews.com to add the capability back in. Should be the same APK as rainman74 linked to above (Downloader-Browser-Plugin-v1.0.apk).
However, the AFTnews' recommended action of pointing the Download app's browser to browser.aftvnews.com did not work for me; I received the same web access error message from Downloader.
To get around this, I loaded another web browser (Puffin for Android TV), entered the browser.aftvnews.com URL, and Puffin downloaded the APK. I needed to relaunch Puffin, then select the APK from Puffin's download list to install. Once installed, Downloader was able to access the web.
Hope this helps.

So what do you actually enter at the Downloader http:|| screen?
Good question. I may not have been clear, but I was not able to download the patch APK through the Download application.
Instead, I installed another web browser application (Puffin TV, available in the Android TV's play store) and put the browser.aftvnews.com URL in there. When the Puffin TV web browser loaded the URL, it automatically downloaded the APK from the site.
Once the APK was downloaded, I returned to Puffin TV's main menu and selected the file from the download list. When I selected the APK, it installed the APK to patch Downloader. After that, the Downloader app was able to again access the Internet through its browser.
Note: if you are installing Puffin TV to install the APK, you will need to tell your device to allow Puffin TV to install APK's. By default, Android doesn't grant permission for applications to install APK's. That's OK; you can do so under settings and my guess is your device will tell you how to do so.
