[Q] How do you keep iPlayer running on 10.1? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can anyone help with keeping the iplayer app running?
On my 10.1, it opens as a web browser. When i play something like a radio program, you need to keep on that page. If you navigate away from the page or even lock the tablet, the iplayer stops. This means you have to just leave the tablet displaying the page or picture your listening too. This will obviously runs down the power quicker and it means you CANT do anything else. Surely you can multitask on the 10.1?

Can you use a browser with tabs?

do you mean like open a new tab? if so, it just stops playing the iplayer page until you go back to it.

Its impossible , I only know 1 page work with it, its soudcloud

Just wondering if anyone else is getting this problem. It happens when I am when browsing the Marketplace, or just browsing the internet. I don't know how it happened but I think it was while i was downloading an app, but which app I don't know. I am running 2.1 on my streak which i just got. Anyone got a solution or facing the same problem?
Sorry bout posting in both general and here. But the yeah its just like a pop up on a computer. but instead of opening a new browser, it just re-directs you to this black screen with a play icon. Is there anyway to get rid of pop ups? or should i wipe the phone and re install 2.1?
eh? popup on streak.....bro, you need to stop trolling for porn while in McD's
Skyfire browser.
Wasn't during porn, haven't checked that out on the streak...yet. i'm 99% sure it was while i was downloading a soundboard app off of the market. I've googled it and it seems a few other people got the same problem but from downloading the dolphin browser, which i don't have.
You could try on of the android malware checkers or adfree from the market. Failing that a full wipe might be in order.

[Q] Galaxy i9100 Problem Browser Issue

My wife gave me a White Galaxy S II international version from Amazon.com for Christmas.
I first noticed this with the stock internet browser.
I am having a little problem with the podcasts section on Engadget.com. As soon as the page is near or finishes loading, the browser crashes and I'm returned to the launcher.
If I am quick enough to long press on the .MP3 link to download the podcast it crashes without the save prompt showing up and the download isn't started.
I downloaded Dolphin Browser HD and I get the same results. This is the browser I used on my Inspire 4G with no problems.
This is viewing the desktop version of Engadget.com, also with either Android or Desktop as the user agent.
I don't have trouble loading pages on other sites.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Just tried it myself and it worked fine. Are you trying the "save link" option? You could try "download all files" application from market. I've got it installed because I've had a problem in the past.
DoubleTwist
Try downloading the app doubletwist you don't need to sync it to your computer or use air sync all you need to do them is download the item again
Hope this helps
Not to be rude but I'm looking for a solution, not a workaround.
I could just stream it from the website or the Engadget app, but I want to download the podcast from the page as I'm reading Engadget posts without starting up another app to do something I could do easily on a much simpler and lower quality phone. The building at my work tends to kill wifi and cell signals so I need to download the podcasts to listen to them.
I did have cyanogen installed on my Inspire. I wanted to see if I could use this phone without ROMs.
Thanks anyway.
download all files from market , the stock browser doesnt download all file extensions mate , that could be the reason
dolphin browser is quite useless to download files...the best one to download files are the opera mobile. i used that to download basically everything....try it...

Like I said "download all files"
Just install it then use the stock browser to download the pod cast
The stock browser and dolphin can download mp3s from other sites. My Inspire 4G running cyanogen could do it, too.
Apparently there is some code on the Engadget page that my phone doesn't like.
The browser crashes as soon as the page either finishes loading or right before it finishes. It had nothing to do with downloads.
Edit: I installed Opera Mobile as recommended above by kruznix and the page loads properly.
I'm still curious if anyone knows why this is happening.

BBC iPlayer

Has anyone had any luck with the BBC iPlayer app?
It doesn't show up on the device based market, and the web based market says it is not compatible with the device. I read somewhere about the iPlayer only working on MIPS devices, and the Tablet S is Tegra based. I just wanted to check if anyone else had any further information.
I've had luck getting around this kind of restriction by getting the apk on a different device, backing it up via astro then manually installing it on the tablet.
Theres a lot of apps marked incompatible for this tablet I've noticed. Not sure whether its sony being slack, draconian or other. 99% of them I sideload and they work fine.
I sideloaded the iPlayer app and whilst it loads, video does not display and the app often crashes on navigation. For the time being the iPlayer website is probably the best solution.
Thanks for the info. I do have access to a Xoom, so I might try sideloading some apps.

App to save web pages for offline reading

Hey everyone.
Im looking for an app that allows to save web pages for offline reading. I found Pocket, which has this function, but it seems to work sometimes and others it doesnt. Sometimes I open a downloaded web page when Im at bed to read it and it doesnt show up, maybe because it didnt download it correctly. Other times it seems it needs an internet connection to open the web page in web view.
I never use the article view. I always prefer the exact same web view.
Also I would need this app to have some sort of backup method, so I dont have to redownload all my web pages over and over again whenever I try a new ROM.
Any advice?
Thanks.

The Ocean browser in the Play store can save Web pages for reading offline.
Its not an app but there's a site called offliberty that can save a page for offline viewing through your browser. Never tried on a phone/tablet so idk if it'll work.
Stock AOSP Browser allows this.
Pocket (formerly ReadItLater)
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda premium
I have used "web to pdf" to save a bunch of diy's from a car website. It works really well.

Your browser doesn't support posting photos directly

I just got a new S9+ and when using the Facebook mobile site there is no photo button next to comments and if I try and upload a photo it says "Your browser doesn't support posting photos directly".
This issue goes away when I force desktop site (I use brave browser but it's the same in chrome) but that's kind of annoying, I gather it has something to do with android switching from webview to using chrome instead but I can't figure it out. Any ideas? And no I refuse to use the faceberg app.
Same.. Just upgrade my phone fromm Nought to oreo.
And got this problem
Your browser doesn't support posting photos directly
Note 8.
I tried disabling chrome and changing back to android web viewer but still no dice, surely someone knows how to fix this?
Bump
Why don't you try Firefox or another browser?
Also, it might be because of the phone screen. Next time you log in, try to select "Use desktop version" for the Facebook website and see if the problem persists.
I already stated in the OP it works when I force desktop website, I dont want to have to constantly switch between the mobile and desktop sites in order to post a photo considering I didnt have to on a version of Android that's 3 generations older than the one I'm currently using.
