[Q] Ice Cream Sandwich DLNA - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently use an HTC desire HD with the default Android 2.3.3 with HTC sense UI. It currently lets me select DLNA renderers to send media to from the native gallery etc with no apps needed for the feature.
My question is does ice cream sandwich have the native ability to send media to DLNA renderers without an app or is it an HTC sense feature on my phone instead of an Android feature?

I think that feature is something HTC, but not in the AOSP version of android.

Write Google and ask them to join the Digital Living Network Alliance.

[Q] Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) on Android/Cyanogenmod

I know that Honeycomb proper, as well as a couple of the more heavily modified 2.1/2.2/2.3 roms coming from big OEMs, supports MTP out of box. However, it seems to be the case that AOSP based 2.3 and lower versions of Android do not have any support for MTP.
Is there any sorta work around, mod, or third party application that will allow me to gimp along until Ice Cream sandwich finally drops?
Thanks!
I am interested too! For my Desire HD.

Hi guys, don't know if this software has been mention before but I just wanna share it to all. It's a great software that's works great on our htc music and video. (sharing movie & music to pc via wifi)

How to used :
Make sure pc or laptop connected to the same wifi router as your EVO 3D.
Install clear.fi & run.
On top right there's a share setting, click it. Make sure both share you media to other devices and allow other home devices to share media with you. Click o.k.( don't closed the apps)
Open your music apps or video on your phone, click the sharing option, choose share via Wifi network (once you enable the clear.fi sharing you phone will automatically found you laptop or pc) choose connection via wifi (via bluetooth still buggy) and click o.k.
Your Done! Just play whatever video or music you like. Enjoy~

How is this better/different than the current HTC Connected Media App or HTC Media Share? I use the Connected Media App all the time to play my pics/music/videos to my Sony Bravia TV. The only issue is that the TV needs the decoding is done on the TV side and therefore some files will not play. Is this different?
Bcuz you don't need to be on a sence rom like myself or others that hate sence

[Q] hd station ics update problem firefox

The hd station has a full version of Firefox on it, and it worked great before the ice cream sandwich update.
I had a few add-ons and several bookmarks.
After the update, I cannot get the hd station's Firefox to come up when plugged in.
I get the Droid browser.
Any help or answers?

[Q] Android rom for Standalone Media Player Smartphone

I was wondering if exist, or if it's possible to build, a special android release for old smartphones without basic phone functions, to be used just as standalone media player. I mean a basic distribution that allow just playing local audio files or remote files through wifi home network.
I have an old xperia x8, which is a good phone and there are a lot of android based custom roms, but i need to use it just as a media player.
As soon as I power it on it has to show a list of music files to play.

Bump!
I think this is quite an interesting question. I'm using my old Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) as a media player, and I've installed Cyanogenmod on it. I'm playing the songs (local) with the built-in Appolo, but if there were to be a music player ROM, I would be interested.
Maybe using a Slim ROM (SlimBean, SlimKat, etc.) and using the SlimSizer option to get rid of unnecessary things could be a way to get a version of Android stripped of everything you don't need in a music player. However, that won't show the list of tracks when booting the phone.

[Q] DLNA/UPnP

Hi there, i recently switched to android (HTC One) ive rooted it, tried cyan, but went back to sense. Anyway, ive also ordered a Nexus Q - mostly cuz it looks gr8 - i have apple TV and i use it with an app on my One where i stream from spotify to my appleTV and to my stereo. When i get my Nexus Q i plan to get CyanogenMod on it, and a airplay server, so i switch out the appleTV.
BUT my dream would be to get a android app on my Nexus Q so i can stream everything from my HTC One to my Nexus Q with DLNA/UPnP,cuz thats possible right? DLNA/UPnP works like AirPlay? Is this possible?
u want to stream media content from device to device? why does it make sense?
I want to stream the system audio, like spotify, just like airplay, screenmirroring would be nice, my question is: do i need a seperate device, like netgear push2tv, or is there a app that does the same thing like an android client
