Hello,
I am from India and planning to buy a Nook tablet from US.But I dont want to buy ebooks frm B&N store as i already have many PDF versions of ebooks and magazines with me which are downloaded from internet. So will these ebooks and magazines that I have will working with Nook Tablet ?
Will I be able to read those ebooks and magazines ?
please reply asap as need to buy one soon. Thanks
You can add all of your own ebooks and PDF's to the Nook Tablet without doing any modifications at all.
Just connect the NT to your computer and copy all your books into /My Files/Books and the device will see them, or better yet, get Calibre to manage your books on your computer and simply connect the NT and move the books over using Calibre.

the Nook's handle PDF documents fine, but there are limits to what you can ask from a 7" screen. For me the sweet spot is epub books, which packages like calibre - E-book management can convert to just fine. PDF documents usually involve a little bit of zoom/pan for reading, which is not as smooth.
For primarily PDF reading, you might want to look at one of the 10" tablets. They won't sit in your hand as easily, but would likely render full-page PDF documents at a readable size.
Have fun,
Ron
Without stepping into the argument about PDFs again - what Ron said is true and I very much agree.

Or use Calibre to convert to epub or any other format you prefer.

Is there an app where I can download morning news and then read them while on the train? I don't have data plan or anything. Just wifi at home.
Calibre
Ok. Here is my "solution" to reading the morning news. You might want to download an application for your computer called Calibre.(pc mac and linux versions exist) It works by downloading news feed from newspapers and online magazines. You then manually hook up tablet and transfer the digital book files it creates. Then read the books with any e-reader software. I do this daily and read the news on my sony book reader at lunch. It will work the same you just need to configure calibre to output for an android tablet. I know this can be done. I've done to transfer files to the viewsonic vpad 7.
A little more complicated but you can use the Calibre content server to download your feeds to your gTab wirelessly.
I can do this on my Kindle and all my Android devices.
I'm not positive, but I think Pulse caches RSS feeds?
I like pulse when sitting on the couch, but I've not tried it without a connection.
AP - Associate Press has a good reader on or offline.
I have it on my BlackBerry and G-Tablet.
I'm looking for an ebook reader for my Galaxy S2. I need something which can read mobi and epub formats (I tried FBreader, but it doesn't seem to parse paragraph breaks correctly). Something that can read .lit files would be very desireable, though I haven't been able to find anything which can do so.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thx

Pocketbook reader for android is worth to try
I bought a Nook Tablet yesterday and side loaded several Chinese ePub books to it. On this Nook Tablet all I got were a bunch of 'blocks', although the table of content displayed Chinese characters fine. Does Nook Tablet support Chinese ePub? Is there any work around?
Have you tried using aldiko or fbreader? You need to sideload these apps.

Trying to convert some PDF to ePub format for HTC flyer so I can use the Pen to take notes. In Calibre, What template should I be using? Is the default ebook reader on flyer the same as Kobo reader? Anyone can share some tips?
Thanks!
Why don't you note, annotate using the Flyer's pdf reader? I find it quite convenient. When official HOneycomb comes I will probably use Repligo draw freehand capability.
Thanks for the message. When you use the PDF reader, it seems the fonts are too small, you have to zoom in/zoom out....true?
Yes, you can zoom in and zoom out. I've found it rather an advantage sometimes. But a BIG plus for the PDF is that you can view your file with comments in any PDF reader, on PC or mobile. I don't know whether we can do it with the ePub Flyer's annotations. In addition, in Flyer's ebook reader I think that you can only annotate/view the annotations at normal zoom level.
Hope it helps.
I just converted a book from pdf using Calibre. I used the default settings in Calibre and converted it to epub format. Worked great and was able to make hand written notes with the HTC Reader.

For advanced Epub stuff files like writing and taking notes into a Epub with a pen (HTC flyer isn’t a touch screen or pen screen or what ever u want to call it write? and that is what u are asking for right?? well what ever floats your boat I guess.) well that kind of stuff can get pretty hairy for a free converter like caliber, the don't do advanced eBook fetchers yet. I would try and use Manuel conversion company they are usually on the cutting edge of what u can do with Epub (im 100% sure if u can take notes into a file Epub or how u would do that or why u would do that) but I’m sure this company (convertabook . com) can help you figure out what u could do and if it is practical and if any one could do a crazy thing like that it would be them just call them

well, I’m using such one useful XFlip pdf to ebook software to convert PDF document files to flip ebook and then read, share and view them on any mobile devices or ebook reader like Kobo reader easily.
Thanks!

If you are talking about getting ebooks for free, that are normally paid, that would constitute warez, discussion of which is not allowed here.
