[Q] Miui + capacitive buttons - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Is there a way to prevent the LED from turning on when its bright outside? I know that on the stock rom that their is a feature where it turns on and off automatically and is wondering if theres a feature/ mod for this.

You can set the light levels manually for the screen and the buttons when you have auto backlight on, but the button levels don't seem to have any effect. Not sure why, I'd also like to know the answer to this.

While I don't have an answer for this, it has been proved out the battery drain from the touch buttons being lit up is near negligible.
The touch button lights being on with bln, at least for the time being, doesn't cause battery drain, it's the process that turns them on for a notification that drains the battery.
So I guess that was a long way to say, why do you want them off?

Battery drain by accidental in-pocket key-presses

Does have anyone similar problem?
I figured out that my backlight goes ON very often while I carry my S740 in the pocket. It's because ANY key can turn on backlight while phone is locked up.
I don't really like this behaviour and would like to set it up somehow so only some key could light up backlight. Best solution for me would be:
Power button: Turn backlight instantly off and lock the keys (I have it set up this way already by AE Button)
Power button again: Turn backlight on and unlock the phone
However, I can't really find any good solution, and I guess it's not even possible.
Any ideas?

Stopping screen from turning of during call..

Does anyone know how to stop the screen from turning off during a call?
Move the phone away from your head?
Otherwise, why would you need it to be one when you're talking on it?
turn on the speaker, i think that disables the sensor.
This is a huge problem with 2.1.
In Android 1.5 on the Eris, you could push the TRACKBALL during a call to wake up the screen.
In 2.1, you only have two options. Pull the phone away from your head (often works, but not always, especially if you're trying to get through a phone tree, and often going back to the screen) or push the 'End' button.
If your phone's screen has been off LONG enough, the 'end' button will wake it up.
If it hasn't, the 'end' button will both wake up the screen AND END THE CALL!
It's a huge risk, and unnecessary. THE MINUTE the OTA comes out, I'm calling HTC about it, and asking them.
Oh, and for what it's worth, Screebl Lite takes care of this.
Just set up Screebl, mine is like 20-90 degrees for both portrait and landscape, and for the in-call activity, I have it not be active when up to my ear.
Screebl works GREAT to keep the screen on properly during a call.
Still calling HTC about it. That functionality should be built in better, or at least give me a way to wake up the screen when it gets stuck.
That is exactly my problem. When i go to wake it up to navigate the through menu options it hangs up alot. Very irritating! I will try Screebl.
Thanks!
you can also press any of the two volume buttons and that will wake it up without any bad effect except for a volume change.
Good tip about the volume buttons, I wasn't aware of that trick.
thanks
sometimes my phone won't wake up when I pull it away from my ear, but I usually just move my hand over the prox sensor and then back and it generally wakes up.
Keep Screen
This is a good thread. I had this problem too. After reading your posts I used the copy of KeepScreen that I already had and it worked also! May be my imagination but proximity sensor seems more responsive too.

[Q] Capacitive buttons not lit up

Hi guys
Had my galaxy s 2 through T-Mobile for a few days now. Beats HD2 running TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 hands down.
I've debranded the phone, running KE7 XEU and rooted via chainfire's insecure kernel.
However I've noticed this morning that the capacitive buttons are no longer lit up. The power is very low and needs charging, so I was wondering is this normal? A sort of built in power saving thing perhaps?
I'm not actually running power save mode, but suddenly the buttons aren't lit, however they still work?
Any ideas.
Thanks
Yes, that's normal. Search the settings, you can customize the behaviour.

Thanks for the swift reply.
That's a relief!
I've just put on the Case Mate Tough case and suddenly the buttons didn't light up - thought maybe I'd somehow broken it!
I can see power save settings and an option under display to specify the touch key light duration, but not nothing specifically regarding turning off touch key light power saving mode when battery low. Am I missing something?
Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do. When the power is low the buttons won't light up. For me it's not the end of the world as I know where they are.

[Q] How to turn off the key backlight

I've got a question.
How can I turn off the key backlights.
Maybe there's also an option to turn them off after 10 seconds of not using it. The Back, Windows and Search key backlight.
Is there something.
I hope you can help me.
Oh how I wish!!! So stupid when using night stand clocks. That even something this basic is missed is mind bending.
As it is, only the lightsensor controlls the button light, so if you want to use stanby clocks, do it during the day :'(
