Just use the standard browser, although I think most browsers will do the same.
If your browser doesn't do it you might should try opera.

You can copy the URL that you got from the .mp4 in the adress bar from the browser.
So you open your browser and where you normally typ in the website for example "www.xda-developers.com" you type your URL from the .mp4

Hi
Have backed-up all my Firefox bookmarks on the computer to a HTML-file and copied it to the E10i.
What I wanted was to use it as a start page on the Mini's browser.
But...
I can't get to work.
Astro finds the file and opens it in a HTML-viewer that only opens the links in the web browser.
Having the paid version of Astro file manager and the E10i's (latest FW, unrooted) original web browser.
Is there a way to open HTML-files from the browsers address field. So I can bookmark the file and select it as the start page?
Or is it time to move to other apps?
Would love some help as I really would love to have the same bookmarks in both the comp and the E10i. Also using all links in a HTML-file makes updating easy.
Acessing HTML files from stock web browser adress field
It's too easy. If you already have Astro installed, just point your browser to:
content://com.metago.astro.filesystem/sdcard/yourfile.html

Now replace "yourfile.html" as you need. To use subdirectories, you just need to add before of "yourfile.html" the respective(s) subdirectory(ies) where is your file "subdirectory1/subdirectory2/yourfile.html".
I hope that helped you.
Sorry my bad english.
I've tried several browsers including the stock one and am yet to find a solution to this problem. It seems that when I download from sites that use a form of redirecting the url, like some file hosting sites that the browser simply downloads a .bin or .html file rather than the apk or whatever file im trying to download.
I've tried dolphin hd, stock browser and firefox with no success. Any ideas?
Cheers!

Thanks but the problem still persists. I should also mention that when clicking these types of links that the page simply seems to stop loading. This only happens on these type of links so I don't think it's a connection issue.
Have the same problem..it must be some solution...
Astro File Manager. Enable the option for Stock browser download. Besides, Opera can download just anything.
Regards.

Nah that didn't work either, I don't think its a problem with file types but rather how the stock browser deals with re-directed urls.
Hi,

Yes with Opera it can be downloaded everything..also with Dolphin HD it is impossible to download such files..
Hello,
i am using APP Inventor, but it put my question as general from Android.
How can i directly download a file from WEB without the browser try to open it.
I i put a url like: privatesite.blablabla/image.jpg
he will put the image in the browser, because browser can load the file and show it on screen, but i want to download it without reading it.
I need that to put inside App inventor, but if it's possible to do it in HTML or other, that's ok, i think i can make app inventor run an external application.
Thank a lot

Well, you can do it programmatically, so maybe an app can do this, with a page in which you just put the url and it gives you the possibility to retrieve the file in your filesystem.

You might find a good way to solve it using cURL, which also has been ported to Android.
Probably a dumb question, but I searched and can't find the answer...I am trying to download a.txt file in chrome and it keeps opening a new window and showing me the contents..I need to remove the .txt extension and put the file in my system directory for a fix on vvm. I would just copy and paste and save it in a new file but I don't know what kind of program to save code in. Thanks for your help

Try downloading in the normal android browser. I'm pretty sure that it will download properly there.

Hello, and thanks for entering!
For certain problems with my phone I have no way to install an apk since I have no file browser, or wifi, or bluetooth, etc.
Now, is there any way to install an application alternately?
Thanks in advance!
Install using adb
Try downloading the app on your pc and install it using adb.

Of course, the main problem I have is that neither does the USB detect me ... Am I ruined?
If you have a browser installed, you probably don't need a file browser, just download an apk from any website, and open it from the downloading list in the browser. you may start with a file manager.
