Did you download the right ROM? ie CDMA for cdma 3d, GSM for gsm 3d? Also turn off checking in twrp

I tried that rom and got prompted to do an ota system update. It got me nervous to think I could accidently hit yes and not only unroot my phone but get the hboot 1.5. I quickly nandroid out of there...

Error status 1...help a noob please

I'm sorry if this question is noobish but I've installed the dumlock for the 1.5 hboot people (not sure if this has any relevance). I've been trying to install joelz cm9 but everyone I try to install it, it give me the status 1 error...tmp/sideload/(something else)...and I don't know how to fix it.
I can restore my miuiv4 backup and I can install other roms even other ics. I read formatting the sd should work but no one reported if our worked or not on the other forums.
Has anyone experienced this or know a solution

Bad download maybe?
I thought about the same thing. I downloaded it at least twice and moved it from a folder to the root of my sdcard.

i've had the same error and im using the twrp 2.0 recovery with a 3d that was rooted via the revolutionary method with eng hboot
When I get home I'm going to try to format the sd card and redownload the CM9 ROM even though I might just stay on miuiv4 since Chad has a kernel coming for it soon. I was trying to decide between the two.

Formatting my SD card did not work. But I read somewhere (and please forgive me for not having the link right now) that once you try it and it gives you the error just reboot into bootloader and then back into recovery and it should work. It worked for me, hopefully this'll help someone else.

[Q] [Help] Evo 3D Rooted.

I unlocked my HTC Evo 3D GSM via the HTC Unlock Method. It's on HBOOT version 1.49.0018. I did nothing more. I want to know if I can go on and install a Custom ROM such as MeanROM now or do I need to do something else before I can? If so, links please. Thank you so much in advance.
Your good. Just flash

Make sure to backup your internal content.. And only choose a ROM that capable for your phone, If you're cdma then go to cdma section, else you're gsm, then go to gsm section.. Don't make any mistake, or you won't be able to enjoy your evo..

next you need to install a custom recovery and also the su file this will install super user you should do this before you start flashing rom's
Here is a link for flashing clockwork mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248231 Look at the 3a part. With clockworkmod you can install roms with ease.
Thanks to you all. Moving to MeanROM tonight \m/

I would star here as a reference point. This device is different to the 4g when it comes to all this stuff Start by unlocking your bootloader through htcdev and go from there.

Thanks for the help I want to know if there is a way for me to downgrade my hboot from 1.58 without re rooting my phone from what I have read is if I downgrade my hboot than I will be able to flash roms thanks for the help
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I believe uou first have to unlock your bootloader in order to be able to downgrade. And as far as being s-on you might not be able to flash many of tge available ROMS. Keep in mind that guide is for CDMA by the way

I think I'm cdma I'm on sprint that's cdma right?? Can I go to htcdev and unlock my boot loader using my phone or do I have to do it with a computer??

Here's a really good put together by ramjet works well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
I think I saw in one of the threads you are on cricket? If so your flash is safe using this guide
You need a computer to unlock bootloader. Go to htcdev.com and you follow the guide there then continue with the link i posted. You are CDMA by the way. Also look at the guide this other guy posted by ramjet.

[Q] HELP! HTC evo 4g lte won't boot

So I recently rooted my phone and I tried to install the CM 10.1 mod. I did everything correctly except I didn't backup my original rom. So now the custom rom won't boot up because it gets stuck at the HTC startup screen and stays there. I went back into the twrp and tried to re-install the custom rom and again it didn't work. Now I went back and all my files are gone including the custom rom! So basically I think that the phone is booting because there is nothing on there. I tried to change the recovery image back to the original htc rom according to htcevohacks.com and i tried doing a factory reset but it didn't work. is it possible to fix this if so how? Thanks.

If you can get into twrp you can mount usb storage and put the Rom zip back on and the reason it won't boot is because you are s-on you need to fastboot flash the boot.img first

ok so as you guys said I can put the rom back on and install it and I have tried it. I got the initial set up of the new rom but the touchscreen doesn't work. I tried 2 other roms too and the touchscreen doesn't work on all of them. Do i just have to keep trying out roms? If you guys could post any roms that you have tried before that'd be great. I just want my phone to run something right now.
Try running a ROM based on the 3.16 OTA such as ViperROM or MeanBean. What version of TWRP are you on?
Also note if you use either of the ROM's listed above, they have S-on kernel installers. Just follow the installation instructions.

I'm using twrp 2.5.0.0 and I'm planning on trying the MeanBean ROM

Give it a shot. The 3.16 OTA included a touch panel driver update. If you have the updated driver you can only run 3.16 base ROM's and also must use TWRP 2.4+, otherwise, your touch panel won't work. If you gain S-off you can downgrade the driver and run whatever ROM you want.
Once S-off you don't have to fool with flashing the kernel separately, either

So according to the MeanBean developer the kernel installer is built in, so all i have to do is flash the .zip file and it will take care of everything correct?

I think, if I recall correctly, you have to flash the ROM zip twice. After you flash the first time, you will be prompted to flash it again.

What recovery are you using?
Make sure you are wiping all partitions.
You may need to pull the boot.IMG from the ROM and flash it through fastboot

Noooo. Just relock your bootbloader then flash an ICS or GB ruu depending in your bootloader version
