CM7.2 Camera and battery - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Has anyone's battery dropped drastically after using the camera on CM7.2? Or is it just me?

My battery will drop drastically if I watch HQ YouTube clips.
My phone gets hot to the touch too.

Camera drains quite some bit of battery when I use it, but I watch YouTube on my phone for more than 4 hours at a time but it doesn't get too hot even when I'm charging while watching, no problem with HQ on wifi too.

[Q] watching online flash videos/playing hd games eats away battery while chargi

hi all!
i recently noticed that while im watching some flash videos online (not the youtube one or the videos that the player can play) for about an hour or so that it drains my battery eventhough my phone is connected to the charger. (i didnt noticed how much but it really drained it)
i noticed this too when i got addicted at dungeon hunter. 1 hour of playing while charging and the battery got drained by 12%.
any one also experienced this?
is my battery broken?
i got my x10 last 2 months and bought it brand new and using stock rom and kernel with fps uncapped
Yeah mate, that's normal. I stream a lot of HD quality stuff, and am addicted to pocket legends.
Takes 5 hours non-stop videos and phone reaches 0%. Plugged in. Pocket legends with brightness on full and wifi connected lasts three. Again plugged in.
You can reduce brightness and volume to save some power, but that's it. I do have o/c to 1113 MHz so on stock it may last a little longer, but the o/c makes it smooth so that's better for me.
Also read omega reds post about battery optimization/calibration. I used it and got about a 20% boost in battery life.
Hope this helps.

thanks for confirming this.
i was about to buy a new battery thinking my battery now is broken

Battery dies too fast

hello
I'm currently using miui rom 1.9.16 with siyah kernel v.2. 6.1+
with low usage and juice defender the battery is quite good but if i use some apps and 3g data it can go to 10% in 6-10 hours
I'm playing a game called age of legends that seems to take most battery (about 50%) .. with my carrier rom i think battery was better but still quite bad
maybe I'm not using siyah good enough idk
any help will be appreciated

The SGS2 screen takes a lot of battery, so if you play a game for long, it could affect the battery duration.
yeh but that will be on display usage and i have it on 10% and i usually set my brightness very low so it should save some as well

I believe Miui is the problem. Miui is a battery drainer.
Your screen uses batterie. This has nothing to do with your rom or kernel.
Avoid white screens/backgrounds as this will use more batterie then dark ones.
I know the screen takes battery .. but the system shows battery usage percentage and screen is maybe at 10%.. i think the game is the problem but it wasn't so bad with other rom so there's probably some problem with miui/siyah competabilty with the game.. the game is over 50% according to the battery usage

Don't separate game from screen, unless you're able to play that game with the screen off...
The total consumption is 60% during the time you're playing the game.
I don't know if the fault is the game itself, but when playing games for a couple of hours, it drains battery a lot. That is a fact.
If you use your phone to play like 2+ hours, you probably will be charging it at night since you will be out of battery. It's not a phone or battery problem, games always tend to drain battery.
I need to charge 1-2 times a day for it to last until the night... well i guess I'll just need to try some more roms and kernels to see if it's getting better
thanks for the help everyone

[Q] Draw Something = Huge Battery Drain

Any Draw Something users having the same problem as myself?
Currently on Hydrog3n rom but I have tried others. Usually charge my phone via laptop but when playing Draw Something phone still discharges faster than its charging.
I haven't noticed any battery drain while playing that on my sgs2 running cm9

Doesn't affect my battery whatsoever. Must be your phone buddy.

On CM9 it cause a huge battery drain here too. If I use it I loose close to 1% per minute
Using sensation rom no batt drain at all
Mod or Die
change kernel.
speedmod look the best
htc hd2, hyperdroid (fikret) - i'm also experiencing a huge battery drain when playing draw something :/
Am also on CM9 with Nexus One (BCM ICS). Draw something is indeed drawing lots of battery power. Phone gets immensely hot. Running the Tiamat kernel from March 14
No battery drain on neat ROM

How fast does your drain I play draw something alot, I don't seem to notice it to drain that fast.
I have the same issue here with a LG optimus 2x, draw something consumes all the battery in 2 hours or less. (with stock rom)
Try Different Kernel
Speedmod, Siya or NEAK

Battery life very poor ~ 12 hours

I bought a new battery for my S2 thinking that there was some issue with the original battery. But even the new battery does't run beyond 12 hours. I am running wanamlite 14.6 with default kernel. I always keep my 2G on. Account sync is off. Power saving is on. Brightness set to minimum level. Fast dormancy is off. I have also seen that battery dies within a couple of hours on wifi connectivity. Battery usage is mainly by android OS and screen and voice calls.
Please provide suggestions how can I extend battery life to atleast a full day.

Hey
There are plenty of tutorials/guides on how to extend battery life.. all you have to do is...(yepp here is comes) Search
Close apps you don't use such as FB, FB Messenger YouTube etc. If you're on ICS/JB download Greenify. Decrease brightness. Turn off Bluetooth, WiFi, Mobile Data when you don't use it. Use 2G instead of 3G(if you don't need it).

Can anyone explain this behaviour : phone hangs all of a sudden, screen goes off and when I restart my mobile battery is just half of what it was a minute before.
See screenshot attached.
After taking this screenshot battery lasted for hardly 5 minutes.

WanamLite has poor battery.Try NeatROM with Apollo Kernel. It can last up to two days. Also, try Undervolting.

Hi! I had the same issue just a couple of days ago, it happened with a "alternative chinese" battery.
I think you should check out the quality of the battery you got, cuz with the genuine Sammy battery, everything works okay.
PD: Sorry about my english!

[Q] Battery life very poor - 4-5 hours

I bought my Samsung Galaxy S2 a couple of weeks ago from a friend, it already had a custom ROM installed, I think CyanogenMod. I use the phone mostly for internet browsing and watching YouTube videos but the battery seems to drain very quick. It lasts for 4-5 hours. I went on Settings menu and checked the battery stats and most of it is taken up by screen, I have it set to full brightness and I prefer it like that. So is there any way to get a better battery life or is 4-5 hours normal for an S2?

If you get 4-5h screen on time with full brightness + web surfing and youtube... well your phone is one of a kind.

4-5 hours , browsing, youtube, full brightness .. thats more than enough mate. look at you battery usage screen statistics... if it is more than 2.5 hours everything is fine
Hi. If your phone is from your friend and the battery drains very slow, its one of two things: 1) is that your friend has used it alot while it was charging, because that actually worsens the battery life. 2) is that you're just using it on high brightness. My suggestion is that you switch to auto brightness and you buy a new battery

47% of the battery is used by the screen, is this meant to be normal.

Yes, just check how long screen has been on for as well, but sounds like if you reduce the brightness you'll see quite an improvement

assuming that those 4-5 hours is your screen on time...full brightness...youtube...I think you wanted to ask "Why my battery lasts so long?!?:laugh::laugh:
OK thanks for the replies, I will set brightness to low.
