Does it really help to have a screen protector on STR? My nook is always inside a case, and always have some finger smudges on the screen, which does not interfere with reading the screen content.
Would it make the screen harder to use, such as in a resistive screen? I know it has IR technology, not resistive lcd, but it is good to know...
I have a screen protector, because I have cats and dogs who're lurking around my nook, and I'd hate to see them scratch the screen. I'm not using any case for it. The film does not affect the touch sensitivity in any way...

I'm using a basic anti-glare screen film from ebay.
The nst is the first touch screen I have not used one on.
It is perfect now, the matte should hide small scratches, it gets used more lightly than phones/tablets, it is light (less damage if dropped), and it is cheap!
I am going to buy one.
I must warn you that it's VERY hard to apply it smoothly. I mean you'll get some air pouches caused by small particles, those bubbles won't go away no matter what you do. I prefer bubbles to permanent scratches though....

I ordered one. Was concerned that it would be tough to apply because of the high frame around the screen. Any tips how to apply well? You use a credit card to smooth the film down over the screen?
Oh one more thing. Has anyone tried removing one? Does it change or damage the screen in any way?
I have had several different screen protectors on my NST and none of them caused any damage when I removed them. I would note though that I have read that you must not apply a screen protector to the Glowlight, something about the built in screen protector and its light guide properties. I would also point out the one reason my NST has had multiple screen protectors is because they are so hard to apply without getting bubbles/lint between the screen and the film. The film I have on now I finally got applied without any bubbles/lint in the reading area, so it will hopefully be on there for a while. Make sure you are working in a CLEAN area and take great pains to get it lined up straight before actually applying it to the screen.
The NST doesn't need a screen protector, it really wont do much for the device, but if you really feel like spending the money for it go ahead.
The NSTG already has a protector built in, putting an extra one on would be like putting on an extra pair of latex gloves. It'll offer a little more protection, but it can get to be quite frustrating in terms of lost control. It's advised not to bother with a protector for the NSTG.
Personally unless you know you're going to have your NST in reach of creatures with claws, or lose objects with sharp edges the protective screen will do little for you. Even in those cases it's possible the screen would merely lessen the damage done rather than prevent it out right.
In regards to the NSTG and it's pre-installed screen protector, has anyone actually removed it? I've read lots of reports of people complaining about minor scratches and finger pressure marks causing the light to become very strong on those parts, wondering if removing the screen protector would fix that or whether it's instead a problem with the screen.

They claim there is one, I claim they lie as there is no visible edge of one. If there was you wouldn't get the light flares from minor scratches. Adding one may protect the screen but no idea what it would do to the light guide properties of the screen. If you ever have to remove it I'd worry what would happen to the light guide layer.
Because gadgets capabilities/sppecs increase rapidly & prices drop fast too, unless it's expensive I forget about screen protectors if the device is cheapish (got mine cheap) & if it will be outdated in a couple of years. Specially if it's not an outdoor device like my phone. Or if the protector hampers speed / functionality to some degree. Also personally I rarely scratch tab screens unless it's a phone, my phones/tabs all have protectors put on from day one, but not doing my NTSG. YMMV.

Anyone managed to leave a screen protector on for more than 24hrs without cracking and peeling it off? Every now and again I buy one and try again but it never lasts - just doesnt feel right. We "need" screen protectors so that the companies that make them can make more money.

I used a screen saver on my Wizard and hermes, After updating my Hermes 8525 to Black 2.0 I could not figure out why I had to tap so damn hard on the lower left hand side of the screen, sometimes it would just make my calendar go nuts, I thought it was the Rom update, I turned the Pocket PC off and took off the screen saver and now it runs sooo sweet

Its not the screen protector that cracks. Its me!! I see bubbles, the screen feels unresponsive and I worry about if the adhesive will come off ok. Guess I need a firmer grip on reality
SP (Screen Protector) quality differs. I have had a Palm before which I bought some cheap sales SP for £2 for 10 pieces, that never last, in fact, the SP itself got scratches all over. Then later, I bought one at eBay, which said to be good, relatively cheap, £5 for 2, that is not good either. THEN, after I read one of the thread here, upon the members recommendation, I bought one from Brando, for £7, that WORKS. Not only it is easy to apply (it feels like a card, which makes it easy to get rid of bubbles), it so clear that it is as good as the screen without a SP. However, I do find that the SP is much reflective than the screen.
Anyway, SP is there so that IF things happens, your screen get protected (from scratch). No, SP don't protect your screen from being smashed. Anyway, you may not know it, but from my experience, I do find some hard residue (while writing with my stylus) on my screen if I don't clean the screen as often. I suspect those may came from the fact that I use my finger to operate the phone most of the time, and also probably, dust/particles get stick to your face (which got transferred to the screen when you answer the phone) in the windy UK.
I would recommend others to get a SP, that is like £7 protection against a £50 (?) price drop on your sale price if your screen get scratched (thats one of my main concern when buying one). Do a search on this forum, the thread on SP recommendation has also recommend another brand too, which I can't remember.
As those who have experienced bad SP, do tell us the brand of the SP that you've bought. So as others can avoid.
I use the martin fields screen protector, sooo worth it. The screen is no less readable and the styles is just as responsive as it was before the SP.

Pocket PC Techs make great protectors. They cost a lot but last months...plus they can be rinsed and re applied.
I'm using a screen protector on my 8525. I haven't cracked yet despite a couple of small bubbles.. But.. They're worth their weight in gold. Having scratched the displays on my 8125 and my hx4705 prior to getting screen protectors on them, I made sure when I got hte 8525 one right away.
I use the Boxwave Antiglare.. Love it.. Love the feel of it too, by comparison to the regular screen.. No issues with tapping or anything either..
I'm using the one that came with my 8525. I can tell you that my last phone/pda has scratches all over the screen from hours of playing solitair. There is also a small scratched spot in the upper right corner of the screen from tapping to close programs over the course of 2 years. I think I'll be keeping a protector on this one.

I have carried a PDA with me every day since the first USR Palm Pilot, and had a mobile phone since they were the size and weight of a brick, and I have never ever managed to scratch the screen on either.
My wife managed to smash the plastic screen cover on her Nokia once, but a "screen protector" wouldn't have helped that. Keep it in a case when not in use I say.

I like the ones from shieldzone, been using them on my last few devices.
I'm a screen protector believer, BUT they really vary. I prefer the glossy style vs the non-glare/matt finish types as the matt versions seem to make the display harder to see in bright conditions and are harder to clean.
For the Hermes, I like the Boxwave "Crystal" version. It was like $12 for one or 20ish for 3. It's virtually invisible, no bubbles, and the glossy surface is very easy to clean
I am using Boxwave Antiglare. The display is readable and I have noticed improvement in readability in direct sunlight (although it sucks anyway). Also I like the feeling of the screen protector better when working with stylus (somebody told it resembles paper which I do not agree but it definitely is something different than plain display). Also it does not show fingerprints. And well, as with everything else you get what you pay for.

I second the boxwave screen protectors, although I prefer the anti-glare one to the crystal clear one. It makes the TyTN screen 100x easier to read under florescent lighting. It's also very 'slick' so the stylus glides just as easily as on the real screen.
As long as you follow the instructions and put it on carefully, you won't have any bubbles or distortion. You can't even tell it's there.
InvisibleShield/ShieldZone makes a super strong screen protector, but I didn't like it too much because it was sort of 'sticky' on the stylus. It made it weird to write things on the screen (which I rarely do).
A screen protector is pretty important; your screen isn't made out of glass on the top layer -- that's just a thin layer of rather fragile plastic. If you gouge it on accident, your screen is toast, and that's a $250 USD repair.
This is just a quick post with my comments on the invisible shield, in case it's useful to somebody looking for a screen protector...
Pros:
- Thick, feels very protective. No worries about putting it in a pocket and getting it scratched from keys or change
- Air bubbles really do work themselves out after a few days of use, even on a completely ham fisted install!
- Doesn't affect screen, you can still see it in daylight without rainbow or mirror effect.
Cons
- B****rd to install. Way fiddly because of all the little corner flaps and cut out bits.
- Slightly sticky to the touch means finger glide action isn't what it could be. Also scrolling with a stylus seems much more hit and miss than without the protector
- Not particularly cheap.
I'll be keeping mine - I'm mainly concerned about protection (which it should excel at) and with a little adaption you can get used to the decreased screen sensititvity. I find using the back of the fingernail to scroll actually works better than a finger.
As an aside, the best protector I had in terms of a balance between feel and protection was a generic cut-to-size one from Palm! Unfortunately it only covers the display part of the TP2 front, it's not big enough to cover the whole front.

I forget to inform them not to apply the Raceshield screen protector as it is too thick and it gives a funny and unresponsive feeling when you touch the screen.
I might change the screen protector to Martin Field instead.

Invisible Shield protect your device from scratches only.
If it falls onto the ground, it'll damage your phone for sure.
Get a pouch or a case if you need that kinda protection.
i have just installed the invisible shield on my touch pro2, not particularly hard, because I have lots of experience installing these.
But if you are a noob, it will be very tricky.
Even if you install it properly, you might still get dust or dirt underneath, and you may not realize it until it has dried up, which is too late.
I got some big bubbles underneath, waiting for it to dry.
I would only recommend the invisible shield for the back part, as for the screen, it is better to stick with a regular screen protector.
Scrolling and figure gestures are not as smooth if you use the invisible shield,

I put my IS on last night. My impressions:
1. The back fits very nicely.
2. The front doesn't fit quite as well, but you can get it on with enough patience.
3. There are a few small bubbles, I'm still waiting for them to go away.
4. Today the bubbles are still there, and the front has a rather sticky feel to it. I don't like the feel.
5. The back cover sticks very well to the gell pad I use in my car. (bonus!)
6. I don't like the ridges on the sides left by the front cover.
7. If the bubbles don't disappear completely, I will find a replacement for the front cover.
Doesn't the phone come with a proective cover on the back already and a screen protector for the screen? I would have thought that would be enough?

The 'cover' on the back is just part of the back's design.
And the screen protector that comes with the phone, well, not sure about everyone else, but mine peeled off within a few days of it going in and out of my pocket.

The "cover" on the back, which can sorta be seen when you look at the volume rocker doesn't come off, which is why I said it's just part of the design.
You can place any protection you want on it.

Also, not just what it looks like on the physical device, but some good pictures of what the SCREEN looks like with phone on? So many screen protectors distort the screen image (thinking to my mother's ipod touch screen protector that makes the pixels all rainbowy and aliased looking) and I have yet to see ONE picture of what the actual display looks like when the screen is on.

Sorry, I have no photos to offer. I can tell you that the screen does look a bit "rainbowy" when I have polaroid sunglasses on. (When driving) It's enough to be a minor annoyance, no more. Still very easy to see the screen, which is a big plus comin from a Tilt that could not be seen at all in my roadster.
Also, as a general follow-up to my earlier rant-
All the bubbles have worked out, and I've grown accustomed to the sticky face. So I will keep the IS on my TP2. I really likethe idea of the phone being well protected from all the abrasive items that find their way into my pockets.
So... On my phone i always use those plastic film thingies because a smartphone is something that i take everywhere with me and put it in different locations like pockets, backpacks etc. Other stuff can be in those pockets so scratches are definately a possibility. I just dont feel comfortable without it and they dont bother me at all while using the phone.
But on a tablet like the prime its a whole different story. When I use it I sit somewhere, comfortably and safe. When i take it with me it's in its neoprene sleeve. Also i usually take the dock with me, and when its docked the screen is automatically protected...
The Prime has even Gorilla glass so i dont plan on putting anything on it. This is my first tablet so you guys may have more experience with it... Your thoughts? The glass feels just so awesome to the touch, i dont think a protector can replicate that.
So do you plan on putting a protector on it?
Btw1: i really dont care about scratches on the back^^ It gives the device some personality! Its the same with books for me. Hate it when they are new and shiny. Feel free to comment on that as well

i havent been using one, i just rub my tfp against whatever cotton shirt i might be wearing, that cleans the screen and i havent had any scratches.
i use a leather folio style case, so the screen is usually covered for the most part, i just use my shirt to get finger prints off lol
I have a dry application crystal clear screen protector and I love it mostly because it doesn't collect fingerprints and smudges as easy and is easier to wipe clean if anything this is worth it alone plus you don't have to worry about a accidental scratch somehow.
I don't and won't be using one. The tablet has gorilla glass and is very durable. My phone also has it and that goes all sorts of places and has remained scratch free. Considering my tablet is only at home loose otherwise always in the dock which then goes in the neoprene case, I have no desire to put one on and am not going to worry about it.
Prime has gorilla glass. I don't have one n my screen looks great. Veryyyy scratch resistant. Plus it cleans off so easily with the included cloth. All screen protectors do is degrade screen quality n throw off touch response.

I took my prime down to the invisible shield stand in the mall to get a screen protector. hen I got there they said because the device was so new they didnt have anything for it. But because it was a TFP the guy offered to custom cut one for me.
Say what you want, but I got mine done without even a fleck of dust under it and it offers no distortion of my screen, nor do I notice any sensitivity loss. Not only that but I find its way easier to clean.
Besides who knows whats gunna jump out of nowhere and try and scratch your screen.

It may be false sense of security, but I have the skinomi protection on mine. Just in case. The screen is beautiful and I don't want anything to happen to it.
Yes. I liked the feel of it better without the screen protector. But I've not noticed any degrading of color, etc. There are 2 specs of dust that got underneath that are driving me MAD and that may end up being why I take it off, maybe. But overall its better because no finger prints and less worry.

I've had my desire for nearly 2 years and there isn't a mark on the screen dropped at a few times too, great big dent on one corner but no scratches. Them corner protectors but probably a good idea but not worth trying to get a screen protector on.

Take a shower and install the screen protector in the bathroom when it is still humid. Works like a charm to install screen protectors dust free.

Guys, I want to bring this to your attention so what happened to me doesn't befall you:
The Gorilla Glass, while tough, can be scratched quite easily under the right conditions. I was in a thread a few weeks agao, being all smart (like my Username, LOL!) saying that a screen protector was a waste. a) Because they make a beautiful screen something "less beautiful" b) that they are difficult to place on the glass properly, and c) My biggest pout: Anything that is sharp enough, hard enough, and strikes with enough force or velocity to scratch, chip or otherwise damage Gorilla Glass will likely not have any less impact from a piece of plastic between the glass and the projectile.
In other words, if something is going to damage the hardened glass, how is a decidedly super thin piece of plastic going to stop it?
In retrospect, I was very wrong, or at least partly wrong. That very night my daughter sat with me playing games on the Prime. We played a few games together: Where's my water, and similar. Then I played Need For Speed, and then she played Fruit Ninja.
When I went to clean all the 11 year old finger prints off, I noticed what looked to be scratches in the glass. At first I thought it was just debris from sticky fingers, but no... it was... HOLY **** THE GLASS WAS FREAKING SCRATCHED RIGHT THE **** THROUGH!!!!!!
Seems she had a cheap metal ring on, with a split back that lets you adjust the size. By holding the tablet in portrait, and not hard or in any way roughly, she scratched the glass on the right side of the camera, a 1" wide SET of scratches, not one or two, but a swirl of perhaps 12 or 15 scratches that were deep enough to be basically impossible to remove.
I tried to see if there were any methods to polish this out. including seeking help from a glass polishing co, and optometry tools and materials. All advised against it, and the amount of sanding, and polishing needed would have put an obvious "dent" in the glass that would make it no longer true or flat.
Fortunately I had insurance, and for a $125 deductible I was able to replace the unit. Lesson (a huge one) learned. Lesson I am trying to pass along? BE CAREFUL. Check EVERYONE who uses the the tablet to make sure they have no rings or jewelry. If a screen protector makes you feel more comfortable, b all means get one, and keep it on there, there are two types, the rubbery "sticky" ones that I hate, since your finger stick and won't slide on it very well, and the harder, shinier material (actually comes in an anti reflection satin finish too I believe).
No matter what you decide remember, if something looks like it could scratch the glass, don't take chances with it. better safe than hugely sorry. Also, while Gorilla Glass IS scratch resistant, it is NOT BREAK RESISTANT. When I saw the damage to my screen, I admit, I actually was close to tears... No ****.

Not so much for protection though but to minimize reflections and fingerprints.
While losing a tiny bit of sharpness and color the display is much more readable under any circumstances. No need to "wash" off fingerprints every 10 minutes, no need to hold the tablet so no lights are reflected right where I want to read something onscreen.

Since a tablet screen is much bigger than that of a smartphone applying it has to be done cautious and calm. To get rid of any particles between screen and protector I used TESA stripes to pull the protector off a bit and then another one to remove the particles.
Good idea with the shower, though.

I concur. A screen protector isn't necessary for normal use. Also, you might have some issues docking it with a protector on.
i dont see any point to use screen protector, its not small device like regular cellphone which may be accidently put in same pocket as your keys and therefore scratch your screen. I use mine mostly with dock, so when its closed its protected by dock, and while not having it docked i use leather case from ebay. And afterall it has gorilla glass should be durable
IMO, no, it does not need one, but it never hurts to be safe. I've no case for mine yet, and am about to have a Skinomi skin to throw on it, and have been using it for only three days. My screen is perfect, I'm a neat freak and keep it spotless, keeping a cloth on hand and using a stylus. However, a case/skin for the back most certainly is needed if you don't like scratches. I don't mind them, my phone is covered in dings and scratches and gouges, but the screen is fine with a protector.
In short, no, it doesn't really need one, but yes I'll be using one. Damned if I'll accidentally hit my jacket zipper too hard or something retarded.
Like the above poster said, does it NEED a screen protector, no. But lets be realistic, people give gorilla glass way too much credit thinking that its invincible. If the tab is always in an immaculately clean place, then you have nothing to worry about. But a lot of dirt particles also have tiny particles of sand in it, which easily scratches glass. Key tests are just useless propaganda. Its little sand particles and other small minerals found in dirt that will scratch your screen, which is how most peoples phone screens get scratched without them realizing. Dirt and dust are everywhere. But if you're careful enough, you can minimize the issue. Personally, I spent $500 on a device so I feel an extra $10 to protect the screen against scratches and preserve resale value isn't much to ask. Also, Skinomi has a screen protector that has a cutout for the dock, I highly recommend it,its super clear.
Long story short, you don't need one if you're going to be careful enough. But don't fall for marketing hype and think that gorilla glass is indestructible. It actually marks up pretty easy (especially if theres a coating on top of the gorilla glass). I put screen protectors on my devices so I don't have to baby them. If i'm always worried about scratches, I can't fully enjoy it.

Not quite (IMHO), here's why: gorilla glass can be scratched, that is for sure, but you're most likely to get only really thin scratches in the coating (given that you're careful), which can be 100% hidden with a wet application screen protector. So why would you go for one in the first place when your screen is still pristine, when you can still actually enjoy it? When you'll have the feeling that it's getting too much scratched you'll still be able to get a protector and have a fresh start.
What do you guys think? Do you still use protectors on your Lumias? Do you enjoy "freedom" instead? Please let me know. Maybe I'm just too OCD and crazy, but this phone and its amazing curved glass is giving me a lot of headaches. How do you deal with it?

You're not mad, haha! You're just like me, I have a crap one on mine, I really didn't want to put a screen protector on, usually I'm good with my phones, but strangely, on the first day that I bought the Lumia, I managed to put a faint scratch on it, and that cheesed me off. So I put a half-ass martins on. Which is ok.
I've got a skinomi, and I've yet to put it on, I haven't ever put a wet screen protector on any of my phones, now based on your review, I don't want to. So I'm stuck on whether I should bother with putting one on or just taking it off completely and allowing the thin scratches.
p.s. phone currently at Nokia care centre...
Glad to see I'm not that weird Btw what do you mean by martins, maybe Martin Fields? I saw one of those on Expansys but apparently it doesn't cover the whole screen, so it will probably peel off easily like all of the non wet ones...
i didn't use a screen protector on my lumia - actually i've never used a screen protector before (i just know i'll put it on badly).
i also found the rubber-ish case provided is terrible for keeping your phone clean. somehow dust gets underneath it and just makes the phone look horrible.

Actually I think that the original case gets way less greasy than the phone itself (assuming you have the black one), the white one is a fingerprint magnet, but it's glossy so it's very easy to wipe...I also tried a few tpu cases, but they even make things worse.
The lumia it's a fantastic phone with a fantastic Gorilla Glass and a fantastic polycarbonate unibody, why you need to put something on this phone to protect it ???

I've never used screen protector with 3 gorilla glass phones during 2 year time period and not a single scratch.
I've not bothered with a screen protector on mine due to the curves, and the screen is still pristine, although I never keep anything in my pocket with it.
Screen protectors sucks on every phone! I rather take a few scratches than using a protector that takes away all the good feelings from the touch.
In fact I already got a small small scratch. Doesn't bother me as much as a screen protector would though.
I'm using a Zagg screen protector (wet application) on mine. At least it adhered properly around the curved screen. Yes, it does feel different than the naked screen, but that is not necessarily a bad feeling. My $0.02
Well, right now I don't have one on. I have tried every brand, Skinomi, Zagg, Martin Fields and even some cheap one from eBay, but no luck: they either don't stay on at all or look crap with their orange peel effect. Wet ones are even worse: if a grain of dust gets underneath when you install them it gets stuck and you can't take it away by any mean, even washing them doesn't help. I ordered a Gadgetshieldz protector because I heard they're the best ones, but if it doesn't satisfy me I'll keep going naked, I'm sick of this crap, I just wanna enjoy the phone
Don't worry about the scratches guys. It's just the Oleophobic coating.
Anyway to hide those scratches, apply a small amount of clear car wax and wipe it off.
That coating does a great job by the way... my screen gets less finger-printy than previous phones.

Yeah it's actually doing great. When you swipe It feels like you're not even touching the phone, it seems like a gesture more than a touch input. The SGSII I had before had a pretty smooth screen when naked, but it didn't even come close. Maybe the curved glass is helping increasing that feeling too. Day after day the idea of putting on a screen protector on this baby sounds more and more like murder. I guess I'll still be using one of those zagg-like protectors when I go to the seaside tho, sand can still screw up everything. The Gadgetshieldz thing I'm getting will help me through that I guess...
I'm not using a screen protector on my Lumia 800.
When I bought my phone, I wanted to; especially because I had 2 mini scratches on the screen within 24 hours of purchase.
Although it would be nice to have one, it's a bit of a hassle so I decided not to go out of my way to get one. I just try to be careful with my phone and the only cover I am using is the one provided for the body, but I'm even thinking about removing that.

I'd like to go completely naked too, but given the form factor of the back I'd probably screw up the camera. As far as I can tell the glass on the Lumia is behaving pretty well, however you're still gonna get a few scratches in the coating in no time, regardless how careful you are. Honestly it doesn't bother me at all tho: the very tiny marks on the coating are only visible under a strong light, looking very closely at the phone which has to be sitting at a very special angle. With a screen protector I would get much bigger and annoying scratches, plus the hideous orange peel effect, which makes the screen really look and feel like garbage. I repeat, I can't murder such a beautiful design that way. I only hope that I won't get BIG scratches, those ones able to create that horrible rainbow effect. This is probably the only thing that would suck even more than a screen protector, but I'm not just careful, I'm literally obsessed with my phone, so it's highly unlikely to happen. Only rubbing sand at full force on the screen should have such consequences...fingers crossed

I got one of those but it's SMALL. Like 2mm long fairly deep as yo can easily feel it if I want to but its sitting at the edge of the screen on the right side so I never notice it in my daily use. As I said earlier. I rather take those scratches than using a protector as it would bother me more than the scratches I get. Gorilla glass is good but it's no miracle glas by any means.
I managed to drop my brand new phone on the gravel (thank God it's my work phone) and got a really, really bad scratch that really annoyed me so I decided to get a screen protector so I wouldn't make everything worse.
I first ordered a Skinomi and while the fit was pretty decent I screwed up badly when putting it on and I wasn't about to order another one from the US. So I decided to try Copter (Swedish only brand I think?)
While it is originally for the N9 with a cut out in the bottom for the sensor it was in my opinion much, much better. It is a bit smaller then the actual screen but it is so thin, 0,178 mm, that I can barely notice it unless some dust get stuck to the edges.
There is a slight drag when using it compared to no protector but you just have to lighten up your touch and you won't notice. There is no orange peel affect at all and the best thing is that the bad scratch is gone, completely!
I would prefer not having a screen protector at all but since I know I'm clumpsy and will most likely scratch my screen even more I can highly recommend Copter. (If you can get it) In my oppinion it feels and looks ton better then Skinomi. My GF has a Zagg on here phone and in my oppinion that is crap in comparisson, thicker, more drag and an orange peel effect.

Sure it's safe as long as you don't mind the eventual tiny scratches or never drop the phone where the display hits a surface hard enough to crack. I use a screen protector mainly to avoid the inevitable tiny scratches (never completely rely on Gorilla glass) and on the off chance it helps in a direct display hit.
Its all up to you but I never fully trust a bare display as I've gotten burned by the tiny scratches on previous devices. Plus a non-scratched display helps with resale value.
Depends on the case you use, if you use no case then no, if you use a case with a decent lip protection then yeah.
I wouldn't recommend it. I removed the SP on mine because i felt like it was getting too many scratches and losing sensibility and Gorilla Glass 5 was fine for normal usage. I totally regret it because now i have a lot of small scratches and one very noticeable on the bottom, and I take good care of my phone, the worst thing now is to find a good and cheap screen protector, not even the plastic one come close to the one installed.
Yeah remove it.... The quality of the screen protector is crap. Here using a OnePlus 5 without case and without screen protector. Not a single scratch. Day one user.
Remember to put the phone alone in your pocket. And select the type of pocket you put it in.

Apparently the GG5 is not as strong in scratch resistance as GG2. The op5 will scratch easier if you were coming from a oneplus one.
Every phone I've had got scratches eventually except for the Nexus one lol. I haven't gotten any on my oneplus 5 yet. I had three screen protector on all but maybe a few days total. Because I'm always shoving my phone into the dirty chest pocket of my florescent work vest, there is going to be sand and dirt occasionally getting on the screen and that will likely scratch it eventually.
