Just as title asks, i know that motoblur on photon has the social networking widgets and that stuff. Biggest question is, i currently have a stock rom and have my facebook sync'd to my phone and it combines my contact list with facebook and blah blah, anyways i like how i have my contact photos syncing with facebook. IF i flash to CM7(or any blur-less rom) will i lose this? Or will i still be able to sync my facebook into my phone and have my contacts and contact photos sync together like it is now? Not the end of the world if it doesn't, just want to find out any possible downside before flashing anything.
blur is nothing but bells and crap. flash cm7 and you have settings to choose to integrate social networks or not. I have CM7 and i have it to sync contacts to pictures so they show up with latest pix when they call. I can confirm that it works.

i believe you still can integrate the facebook contacts via CM7 i might be wrong on this one, but its the facebook app that can still offer that as well, like the things you would lose is like the stock music app, any moto apps really since they are built into the framework, settings will be a little different, theme customization will be different as well, sometimes it can free up and even speed up your phone by removing even more bloat. one thing i cant live without is the stock moto music player. i really do like it but its built into the framework so i cant move it over to cm7 im hoping i can figure out a workaround for that one

With all the Timescape stuff etc, when I link my contacts to a Facebook profile, I was expecting it to link the profile pictures as well or at least give the option to do so.
Is this possible so when I get a text message in Timescape from somebody, their picture is the same as if they posted on status on Facebook? As it stands, the text is generic picture then they do a status and it is a 'different' person with a picture despite being linked.

The link in Timescape is for the "Infinity Button" I believe. You can sync contacts with Facebook using Facebook Sync! Just do a search on Android Market!
i was also wondering about this, strange that timescape wont sync photos. hope they fix this, i believe sense do this automatically?

its not really sense but HTC software does it auto even without sense. i have use vanila offerings on my hero prior to x10 and they were fine. i am rather annoyed with this ommittance as even though non essesntial its one of the features of FB syncing. must be a way but i havent found one yet

Is there any way to get my facebook contacts to sync with my phone contacts? I really liked having all those pics for everyone, plus all of the other contact info. I didn't know that the backup my phone was syncing with every day (was it with verizon?) on stock GB was not a contact list that I would not be able to use on ICS. I lost a lot of contacts. How do I get all of my google contacts to show up, and how come it's only showing me some of them, and not all of them? Where do I go to manage all of my google contacts and get them on my phone? Do I do that from the desktop gmail in my pc browser?
Also, is there a way to make the contact manager list the contacts without the ginormous pictures in a side-by-side fashion? I really don't like the look or feel of it, is there a better way?

You're going to have to use an app such as HaxSync if you want to sync your Facebook contacts in ICS.

thank you! I knew their had to be a way. Is there a different contacts manager for ICS? I really dislike the one that it comes with. Maybe I am just too used to the one that GB had, but I find the one is ICS to very unwieldy.
I just purchased a Droid Increadble 4G LTE from Verizon Wireless. I have started to notice some things that were forgot about or missed. These things should be caught before release.

1. The FriendStream widget is not there but is hidden.
2. I also noticed that when delete pictures from the phone storage using the computer they still show thumbnails in the gallary but when selected they give and triangle with the ! in the middle
3. Contact merge does not update contacts across the accounts as did previously on Droid Increadble.

1. That's been commented on several times here. It's just not a link in the app drawer, but it still exists in several places.

3. In the People app, it gives you the option to link contacts, exactly the same as it did on the original Droid Incredible, which I used for two years. It never updated anything on your Google account if you linked it to a contact on your phone storage, even if more information on the phone storage, and also vice versa. When I deleted my Facebook account on my Dinc last year, it deleted every contact who came specifically from Facebook, and deleted all information originating from Facebook from existing contacts. Linking contacts simply puts the two information together for one easy place to look at it on your phone. If you go back and delete all contacts from your old phone and then resync your Google account, you'll only get the ones who came from Google, no phone storage, no Facebook, etc. Every time I updated to a new ROM, I have to manually restore contacts from my phone storage after syncing my Google account until I just manually entered every contact from phone storage into my Google account.

Maybe it is the same reason there is no Frienstream app or widget. But my contacts that should be linked to facebook arent showing there fackbook profile pictures like on previous HTC devices. Also I dont see Facebook for HTC Sense sync like before just Facebook for android.

Sense 4.0...yeah they changed a lot of the older functions to be merged into other places. People got used to the old Sense way of doing things. Whether these changes are for the better or not, time will only tell. But I agree, it seems a little too much in places. I think it's all part of their streamlining of Sense.

FriendStream is specifically hidden in the default.xml file. I believe the way they implemented Facebook for HTC Sense on this phone is that it is an add-on to the main Facebook app, and that's why it doesn't display. A couple of apps on this phone seem to work in a similar fashion. Since I don't have a Facebook anymore, I can't verify how the contact sync works from it. Currently I have nothing but a Google account syncing contacts. It's possible that you have to merge those contacts, then set each manually to update their photos from Facebook.

Thanks, but I have been going through and manually adding them. I guess it is something that I will get used to or switch to a different launcher. Launcher Pro has a widget like the friend stream one.
Why has no one yet figured out a way to force Facebook Contact Sync yet on 3rd party apps on ICS??? This has been an issue for a while, and while there are apps out there to sync contacts and pics, they don't provide numbers. I rely on FB to provide some of my friends numbers, and I would like the chance to use something like Go Contacts. I mean the stock Sense dialer can load FB numbers, so why doesn't any of the other dialers do? I mean there isn't even a root hack to do so as far as I can tell.
Is there something I'm just missing?

Hi! I'm running MeanROM currently, might switch soon, been thinking about Smooth Criminal.
The ROM came with the "people" app, but it's broken; the join option does not show up, so I can't combine duplicate entries, which is annoying. Is there a newer version of People I can find someplace? Can I use the Contacts app instead? Is there a place to get that? With ROMs that have a working 3D camera, what are my options?
My preference is for something that will not try to sync contacts with google, facebook, memotoo clouds, or other places not under my control...
