[Q] Best MIUI Version/ROM? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright so I got a vibrant a while back, played with TouchWiz and Bionix just to see what it was all about, and ended up using Cyanogen as my daily. I have seen MIUI for quite some time and have noticed that there are many different versions out there for the vibrant. Is it worth my time to try out stock or are the kernels and additions that the XDA community have added just that much better?
Some insight would be great Thanks in advance!

I prefer neobuddies version

In my opinion Trigger is quite stable and gives no issue for me
I think you make a mistake when you look for others input! Your best bet it to look through the ROM posts, bugs and other inclusions are listed! Most 2.2.1 roms are low to few if not any bugs. 2.3 have theirs clearly listed! Most have screenshots so you can look before you try, and worst comes to worst some use Launcher pro and others you can replace with it.
I would personally recommend sticking to releases from either of these Teams at first as they are more wide spread and any help needed might be found easier. Although if u can i'd try out some from other Devs/hobbyists as well
- BionixV1.3.1 - is [TW] Team Whiskeys' baby http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925548
- Trigger 3.0.0 - is [EDT] Einherjar Development Teams' baby http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041447
both are 2.2 firmware and probably the most stable and most developed for in terms of MODs and themes.
- Bionix FROST 2.2.1 - is [TW] Team Whiskeys' baby http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966688
- Bi-Winning - is [EDT] Einherjar Development Teams' baby http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016652
both are 2.2.1 firmware and from the two leading development teams for our Samsung Vibrant T959.
My personal favorite is Malice by Dan_Brutal[EDT] but alas it has been pulled from XDA(only for now, hopefully) and your gonna have to hop on over to their forums if you wanna give it a try. Good luck!
It looks like I come down to 2 choices bionic and trigger
So I m gonna try both and see which one I like better

Sweet bro! You should be happy with either and the theme options with both are off the wall. It seems like everyone and their brother is porting themes for bionix LOL! its friggin great! Good luck! and Welcome to the Vibrant community! Hope you fall in love with this phone at least half as much as i have. I would try some other ROMs and such from some other devs and dev teams as well after awhile. Its seriously next to impossible to brick this phone unless you try hard.

this is true for me also.
Bi-winning has a really nice interface, is fast and smooth also so that should be a pick.
I've been really happy with Trigger and Overstock 2.4.1
but try a few out.....I really am looking forward to Dan's new Malice....I was running the Beta until Trigger 3.0.0 cam out....mad props to EDT!!!!

Best Gingerbread Rom?

I know this has probably been repeated numerous times in the past but the roms change very often and so i was just wondering what you guys thought of as the best gingerbread rom. I'm currently on MIUI 360 and i like it so far. I havent tried many of the newer nightlies for cyanogen though so idk what those perform like.
Cm7 is best stable rom without gps! Especially with nightlies with rom manager premium

I used Simply Honey 3.6 and was extremely happy with it. Super fast and stable. I had to reluctantly give it up for Froyo though because I use my GPS too much.

[Q] SGS2 Roms

I'm looking forward to the cm7 Rom. Just wondering how there are so many other Roms already released how come the Cyanogen Rom is proving to be so difficult?
I'm not mocking the hacksung guys, I know they are doing a lot of good work.

Because the CM build will be very different from the stock samsung ROMS.
A lot of the ROMS available right now are very similar to stock with only a few minor tweaks.
Thats the short and simple answer.
I was thinking that I was just curious.
Hopefully it'll be out soon enough

that depends on the user. seems to be between villain(which comes with villain tweaks), cognitive and litening and a cpl of others that I dont remember offhand..
Then theres the never ending supply of 'Roms' that are basically just themes, with the odd tweak that some other dev created.
I didnt mention cm7 purely because its not released yet.
I'm using Listening at the minute with the tw launcher.
Found adw a bit clunky and I like the Sammy calander widget.
Is the cognition Rom a wipe and flash or can I use odin?

[Q] Which ROM is your daily driver?

I need a daily driver. Just wanted to get everyone's opinions. Currently using
MIUI-NB. It is pretty awesome, but has a few annoying bugs that i can't live with ( e.g. call volume). Before that I was using Project V and Bionix 1.3. Both are top notch ROMs that are very stable and have great battery life. They just seem a bit dated. There has to be something better by now. Would appreciate your thought.
A BIG THANKS TO ALL DEVS! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
ICS Passion v10 is pretty sweet. And pretty stable. 10.6 has some bugs. Make sure you flash GB boot loaders!
Also can't go wrong with a 360 productions rom like miui lithium or miui prime.
Nick knows his Miui.

If you're ok with 2.2 try toxic 8 (9 I'd out now but 8 works better for me). I'm using that with the gb theme (it comes with a black and white theme, which I normally like but this one was a little off). Toxic has amazing battery life too, along with Bali 1.8.8uv and juice defender it lasts forever and is very smooth. I just swapped out the theme market and Swype and all is good.
I've been using jet pack for a few days so far and am loving it

Im using toxic darkyy 9.5, rom is fully functional. everything works just fine. Battery last for more than a day and best thing is i can take native video calls usig 3g ,It works as well as international galaxy s.

I sort of have 2. ICS Passion v10.6 (using) and D9 (in case....)
For me Deranged 9 is the best froyo ROM for vibrant, and Passion is best ICS.

[Q] Best ROM for Mom?

Longtime XDA flasher here. I've recently moved on to the GSIII and am going to be giving my beloved Vibrant to my 65-year-old Mom, who wants a touchscreen phone for easier dialing (LOL). She will not be using a data plan, so no need for working GPS, etc.
I'm looking for the most stable, fastest (without bloat) ROM available that will not cause me frustration when getting calls from her asking what a "force close" is!
Right now, I've got Chimera v1 on there. I was thinking of reverting back to maybe GB or even Froyo, but I really haven't kept up with the development in the past few months. So, any suggestions? Thanks!

I would definitely pick Bionix V 1.3.1 as one of the choices. That rom is amazing. I would definitely not go with ICS or JB since both are still developing and have bugs here and there. GB is kind of unstable. I would find a nice, stable Froyo ROM :good:

I agree with this ^^
I think that froyo would be your best bet,
There a quite a few stable roms to choose from in that department.
Something from Fish is always an awesome bet
bionix 1.3.1 BUT, there's a further development on it, its fishman's or fishmod Bionix 1.3.1. It is the most stable Vibrant rom, ever, imo.
Get a stable ROM that is either gingerbread or froyo

Agreed.
Even though ICS/JB is much faster and newer, froyo/gb is pretty simple and easy to use, less settings to mess around with, and its more basic to use than the newer versions. I had quite a though time just changing most of the settings in JB but in froyo/gb, it was much easier.
Being a smartphone, it can tough for even older people to use, but the only thing shes probably would need it how to use the touch-buttons, how to make a call, how to unlock the screen, and your good. Goodluck!
Stick with a 2.2 rom, don't want to leave mom with a phone that won't call 911.

Thanks, guys. I Odined back to official 2.2 and flashed Fishman's mod.

Cyanogenmod dev team just fixed the 911 issue. All cyanogenmod based roms after today's date should be great for everyday use. Fisherman's Mod is good too if you don't use a lot of apps, it is a Samsung based Tom and the filesystem can create tons of lag.
