So I've been using my thunderbolt to tether to my flyer tablet. Speakeasy tells me I'm getting around 12mb download on the phone but only like .5mb download on the tablet. When I'm home on my wifi the tablet gets 22mb down so I don't think that's the problem. I also know its not Rom specific

Anybody? Flashed to cm 7 and the wifi hotspot built in gives me 5-8mb down. Could it be radio related?

It could have to do with the fact that your tethering your phone to a tablet. I don't know if that actually matters, but it's something to think about. Can you tether to a PC with good speeds?
Havnt tried but I will. I do know that when I switch to lte only speeds improve to about 4mb down and 5mb up. I'm gonna try my friends battery cover.

Hiya all,
Is anyone having the same issues on their ThunderHammer with WIFI not picking up any locations? I seem to not be able to get any hits on any networks, I am rooted running stock, I have ran the ROM by XXXVIRUS but maybe it could be in the WiFi sup. Checked the build.prop changed the interval to 30 ( 15 native) can't seem to get her going.... I'm not a NooB, and can use and and I know my way around some Droid ... Any ideals let me know, or its back to Verizon to replace, ( came from og to dx, and they both had no WiFi issues, this bolt can't see and may have to get contacts!!!!)

I just tried wifi again,and it does work on wifi. I must not have had a good wifi signal when I tried it before. Still doesn't work with data only though.

Seriously? CDMA phones, like the Fascinate, are not equipped to do data and voice simultaneously. You'd have to get a 4G phone.
Until more CDMA phones get the proper hardware/software that allow you to use 2 radio connections simultaneously or until 4G covers everything and Verizon starts using voice over LTE, this feature will not be vastly available.

Alternatively, you could hope that more phones use SVDO modems for CDMA, but since SVDO has been around for a while, and only the Thunderbolt has it afaik, that is probably useless as well.
I rooted my phone recently to use wifi tethering with my new transformer. Haven't had much luck finding a stable tethering app. One I tried was open garden but it isn't very stable. What's the best one?

Just google search "wireless tether"
First result, go to the downloads tab
use bluetooth tether
just pair the droid 2 to your transformer and use the bluetooth tether option in the Asus transformer.
it's faster and uses sooo much less battery then than wifi tether and u dont need to root!!
i do it all the time works like a charm

I downloaded wireless tether and it does seem to work very well. Maybe its because I'm running it on CM7

I'm using Barnacle, free from the market. You can rename your network and secure it. It runs ad-hoc. I get 11mbps consistantly.

It's not, I just speedtested it, I feel stupid now for going over the mouseover link in the systray. Sorry for misleading. It's actually 1mbps and .56mpbs upload. Still, faster than my sprint 4g aircard that work has me using.

Thanks, man! FINALLY got a wireless tether app to work on my D2 with Gingerbread 2.3.3. I tried a bunch of others and none of them actually connected out to the internet.
Like derezzer says, select DroidX as your device profile. In addition, i also selected Change Setup-Method to Hostapd (master). So far, so good.
Pdanet works for wired tether. Wifi does not. If u are looking for a tether that works for, lets say, tablets or gaming systems, and not a computer, i haven't found one that works. If its just for a pc, use with tether for root users
Anyone else having issues with wifi loosing data connection? My wifi connects fast stay connected but i have no internet. If i re associate it works. This happens every time i use wifi. When i re associate it losses data within 20 secs.
