Dont Know What Has Happen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Ok so i restored my stock backup because i needed to do a fresh install of unnamed. now when i turn the phone off it comes right back on and when i try to go into recovery it just continues booting up. what have i done and what do i need to do?

Even with phone on you can press and hold power and both volume up and down. Keep holding it and it will boot you into recovery.
Sent from my páhhōniē

there is no need to go to stock to do a new rom flash

The problem is fixed but now i face a new dilemma. When i go to turn the phone off it comes right back on. Even with a hard shut down. Also happens when i pull the battery and put it back in. It will turn on again by it self. I am on unnamed 1.3.1 with the blue monkey theme. Any ideas?

what if maybe your power button is tweaked?

I guess warranty wouldnt cover it because I'm rooted?

If you revert the root using entropy rom and a jig you can return it for warranty work undetected.

Ok I'm honestly baffled here. My battery life has been terrible. Here's what has been done recently. two days ago I restored my stock back up and flashed unnamed 1.3.1. Noticed my battery was dying very quickly. So I went into cwm. Wiped data, cache and davik cache and reflashed unnamed 1.3.1. My battery is dying no exaggeration about 10% every 40-50 minutes. In addition to all this...my phone wont stay turned off. It turns it self on after about 2 seconds. Ugh please help me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium

Wow. That's pretty rough. I say go back to 100% stock and see how it goes. If it still is dropping that fast your battery may be bad.
Sent from my páhhōniē

The phone screen turning back on so often says "rogue app" to me.

I really appreciate the replys. I'm going to take one more day and see how it goes...if its still not working right ill be buying a USB jig and learning how to get back to stock.

Also when you say go back to 100% stock...do you mean like restore my stock back up? Or am i going back to 100% stock unrooted? Or what? I've seen a couple threads, I'm just confused so I apologize. If you could guide me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Use Entropy512's return/unbrick to stock package. Or I have an Odin3 OneClick Downloader of his package is you prefer. It's a little easier. See the link in my signature.
There is no such thing as a backup of 100% stock. To make a working nandroid backup, you need to already have a custom kernel installed.

Thank you so much. I will check it out when I get home. So after I do that I'll still be rooted? Or do I need to root again before I flash a rom again? I promise im almost out of noob questions.
And I might try getting a new battery to fix the other problem. I'd hate to have to send my phone in for warranty
EDIT: ok i just looked at your link with odin 3. say i use the one without root. i would essentially be bone stock out of the box correct? and from there i could just start over, use the guide on how to root, etc.?

The only difference between the two packages is one will give you root while the other will not. If you go with the one with root you will be 100% stock aside from root. I only recommend going 100% because then you'll know it won't be any rogue apps draining the battery or issues from a custom rom. If you get the expected battery life stock rom has then you'll know the battery is good. If it's lower than what is usually is for stock rom most at&t stores will replace the battery on the spot for you.
So no benefit of going with the package without root unless you're taking it back to at&t.

although i do have another question..sorry. Ok so when i first rooted i became acustom to CWM and flashing unnamed rom themes in that. After i used odin3 one click it gives me the android system recovery 3e and ive never seen it before. can i still flash unnamed through this or do i do something different?

How do I make my Fascinate more efficient?

Four words: I hate my Fascinate. Is there any way I can make my Fascinate faster, more responsive, and just work better? I've used Com rom, Cyanogenmod, & MIUI and none of them work for me. Community rom seemed to work best for me but about a month of running com rom, it just started forceclosing everything and I lost everything. Then, I went to Cyanogenmod. It was amazing, but I noticed it deleted things off of my SD card by itself. For MIUI. It was just a little to buggy. I just gave up and went to stock and installed OCLF. For some reason, my phone isn't very responsive, it constantly freezes, crashes all the time, the camera app doesn't want to open sometimes, and just today it started not opening up my apps and showing a black screen. I'm sick of it!!! How do I make my Fascinate work better? I'm stuck with it for 2 years and I can't stand it!? Any suggestions??? Ill do whatever it takes to make this thing work better.

Im not sure how to respond to this...I mean my fascinate is running cm7.1 w/ glitch v13 and is ****ing AWSOME! Super responsive, gps locks instantly, no lag, no fc's... Im going to go out on a limb and say you must be doing something very wrong or have a bad device.
Suggestion:
back your sd card up, odin dl09 eclair w/ pit and repartition checked, reformat your sd card, then flash rom of your choice. If that dont help, call verizon and have them send you a replacement.
I've never flashed a "pit" thing. I've just flashed the froyo file and called it a "restore." Also, I got a 16gb card withmy phone and it won't flash any CM7 roms, so I bought an 8 from eBay. Did the same thing... I have an old 4 gb that is the only card that will flash a cm7 based rom. Also, if I put my 16/8gb on a cm7 rom, it'll say damaged or unreadable.

Thats great...but when they go to test it and find out that its been hacked, Verizon is going trace that phone back to you and charge you for the replacement. As the poster above stated, its not worth the risk when it takes 5min to odin back to stock.
they actually still can tell that the phone has been flashed even if you odin back to stock. The only way to truly completely hide that the phone has been rooted is to use a usb jig and reset the custom binary download counter.
But they honestly don't care. This is all much ado over nothing.

On the new devices that have flash counters yes...but from my understanding not on the fascinates or older devices. Maybe Im wrong tho?
I was pretty sure that the fascinated had this counter as it is triggered when Odin flashes the phone.

I suggest flashing UnNamed if you want a stock rom feel & look with a few extra benefits.
Also ShoStock but its more beefy with nice additions but still stock base.

Giving my phone away, battery question

Yeah, he wants the best battery life for his friend, and thats exactly what stock is good for.
On top of that, it's a huge pain to have your friend come back to you and go "how does this work etc." because you have some random ROM flashed on top of it.
I, personally, would never use stock.. but if i was giving my phone to my someone else, I would definitely flash it to stock.
thanks for the link guys, however it seems that I can't get into download mode. I've tried holding just the volume +- keys, the volume keys with the power button, unplugged into the comp, plugged into the comp and it doesn't work. It just loads up the Team Passion 5.1 screen with the androids dressed like KISS. I've watched a few vids and followed the directions and nothing.
never mind it was the volume + key that in needed to press. thanks again guys

[General question/though] softbrick phone made in china hope Entropy enlightens us

First Let me say everything Here is all my personal Opinion and by just rooting phones and installing mod I already sorta voided my warranty. Okay Lets start, A few months when the ICS bug was Hot Like fish grease my phone's USB was corroded and would not charge. I went to a ATT Repair center and Got a new one/refurbish one and I notice that it didn't have much under the battery All it said was the Model number IME barcode and the "MADE IN CHINA" Letters.
I came home and the first thing I did was root install GB custom rom. I decided to wait for CM9 to taste ICS. After it was On nightly I install like any other installation and then move on to AOKP Rom from task, That rom has the feature that lets you change the text where you carrier label is. And I change which was fine. I went back to CM9 and that text Remain there and I did wipe/data like it said in the instructions, When I updated to the latest nightly I use Rom manager and booted into CMW (noob mistake) I wasn't paying attention and I got a soft brick. phone booted and showed SAMSUNG GALAXY SII but then just turn off and on buttons on bottom lit up like when you put your phone into download mode. I pull battery Use method to return to stock/root Using Odin Which if I'm correct it would have increase my counter (Correct me if I'm wrong) phone work Install a kernel with CMW using terminal install CM9 And even when I did those steps the same text That I had use was still There.
I found that very Weird but I still left it I didn't care. When the Leak ATT ICS came out Entropy said something about Bricking your phone something to do with the eMMC chip or whatever, Anyways Fast forward to lastnight/today I wanted to start from scratch and install a Samsung base rom just for giggles. And to my surprise I wipe my SD card and tried to wipe my phone but in the whole process my phone lag and I guess I press the button to wipe so many times I pull battery and guess what happen?... I got a soft brick again, Okay spend 30 mins again to redo my regular soft brick steps and my media scanner, Gallery, Camera didn't work. I then again wipe the phone and loaded semi v16c UCLE5 att update and my phone work again I formatted my sd card and my gallery camera started working again. But again the Carrier text from The very first AOKP rom Was still there in the lock screen.'
I again wipe and soft brick but this time to test out if it really does happen when You wipe from phone. Which it did happen and again repeated my steps. I guess I would like entropy or someone with more knowledge than me help me answer these mind boggling questions.
1. Is it possible my phone is sorta unique of the soft brick/wipe phone routine?
2. I downloaded the app from chain fire that detects if your emmc chip is one of the unlucky ones who have the bug or whatever and I do have the chip
3.How is it possible That the carrier label text is still there after so many wipes and rom flashes
4. I pretty sure I have not done anything to the boot loaders unless the roms I flash has them (which I think they don't)
I hope I explain my situation good. Again this is not a rant or troll or a customer support tread I clearly Understand the dangers of flashing and rooting Thanks for reading
p.s remove the picture because apparently my screenshot is offensive
Well that was a mouthful. LOL.

When using a custom ROM. If you are using what came with the phone or is updated officially via ATT then you may use it without issue.
OK . First, don't use rom manager. As already stated. And second, make sure to do FULL wipes between flashing different roms. This includes /system, data, cache, dalvik, and running the kernel cleaning script for good measure. That should always leave u with a fresh install.

Why is it weird? The issues you're having is all user error. Nothing to do with the phone.

I'm going on a limb and say it's not a lot of user error, from what I seen and read in these forums its about hardware and user.
