[Q] Goldcard with no device. - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I've seen all of the threads about how to make a goldcard, and they all need the card to be in the device you want the card for. Have been searching a few days.
I need to make one to fix my flyer after a botched attempt at a downgrade to GB from Honeycomb. I can flash a nonbranded rom, but need a goldcard. Can this be done with a pc? I cant seem to find a way to make one out of the tablet. Any body got a clue?

dear user .. u can make your gold card with enother htc android devices and use it for your flyer .. i made my gold card in wildfire and use it for briked flyer and it work perfectly ..just note that use mmc1 .. if u try to make it u got what is "mmc1" ..

Any android device at all will do, so long as you retrieve the cid correctly.

Globatron, I am having a problem. I posted in the honeycomb easy install. I could use your expertise.
and I made a goldcard for my wildfire s and used it to flash an unbranded euro rom on that, came out
quite nicely. But no go in my flyer, with the same card.

Question about the installation method for honeycomb

How long do you guys think it will be before there is a method as simple as just flashing a honeycomb rom without having to do the method in the development section?
I really want honeycomb but i'm not sure the risk of bricking is worth it. i LOVE my flyer and would be devastated if i bricked it!
Just curious as to what you guys think.

this up to HTC and does have nothing to do with what is going on here. true that the procedure is quiet difficult, but not impossible. if you addicted same me , sure you're not gonna wait till HTC will come with their release. it's up to you which method are you going to choice.....

Whatever method is used, it will still likely require the flashing of the HC HBoot and radio, so your risk of brickage is probably about the same regardless.

Think what trips most people up is the usage of adb. I was having problems with my laptop recognizing my flyer when I was I hboot, so I couldn't get past the 1st step. :/ I only had a short time to mess with before I had to leave on business. My question is, I've flashed radios, kernels and tons on my Incredible and Thunderbolt, without using adb... I'm assuming that the same could be done, if the files were named correctly? (Pimgblah)
Well I would say I'm very familiar with adb, but I was still reluctant. (i went ahead and did it anyway ) and I'm incredibly glad I did. But answering your question, you don't only use adb in the guide. You also use fastboot. So I'm sure there is some difference there or something (i'm no expert) .

German Flyer 16gb WiFi - root, honeycomb leak, s-off possible? Or send it back?

Hey Guys,
I already use a Desire HD fully rooted and eng s-off. Now i bought a Flyer 16gb WiFi and after reading a couple of hours here I'm unsure if I should keep the device.
Is it possible to root the device?
Is it possible to install the HTC HC Leak which is made for the 32gb?
Is it possible to get back to stock?
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Daniel

I'm not really sure why it would be an issue with the German Flyers. HTC just announced that their bootloader unlocking tool officially supports the Flyer (see htcdev.com), so it should be even less of an issue. I have a US 16gb Flyer using the same stock HC 3.2 leak that people are using on 32gb Flyers (via Paul at MoDaCo). Have you found the thread at MoDaCo (sorry, can't post the link)? Someone might have reported running HC on a German Flyer there.
As far as getting back to stock, I hear there are a number of ways to do it. Someone has posted the shipped RUU's in the developer forum; I'm not sure if the German one is there. If you manage to get clockworkmod running, I believe you could just backup and restore.
Hi,
thanks for your reply.
Yes i already know this thread and as i've seen the instructions are definately working on the 32gb 3g but he's not sure if the 16gb will work fine.
And as i read a RUU for the 16gb is not available.
So in the end it's the same thing as on other phones. You have CWM and S-OFF after the procedure and can just install ROMs as you like, right?
Did you do everything like in Paul's thread? Or is there anything to keep in mind when flashing the 16gb?
Regards
Daniel

Yes, this seems to be the case, although I don't claim to know the details behind needing the new boot, radio, and hboot images. From what I understand, it's required for the Honeycomb ROM, and I think Paul has some details about this on his thread. You might want to ask there, or someone here can enlighten us. I'm not sure if this will limit the ROMs you can install, but if you want to install Honeycomb on a 16gb model, I can attest to them working.

I followed Paul's instructions exactly, no special considerations. I'm not sure what it is in the RUU that would limit use for other models, as you would think the partition tables would remain the same and you would simply image your ROM to that. But I have limited experience with this. Again, I can attest to the image files posted on Paul's site to be working for the US 16gb Wifi-only model and maintaining the same partitions as before the update.
But Pauls Guide includes everything right?
So i don't need to S-OFF with this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062184
Correct?
That's correct. Paul's guide includes everything. It leaves out instructions for using Revolutionary and HTC's unlock tool since the links to those websites include the instructions.
If you're S-ON, the step with Revolutionary (Step 7) will make your Flyer S-OFF. I hear some Flyers, particularly those shipped to Europe, were S-OFF from factory, so you wouldn't have to do that part if you're already S-OFF. You can check by just going into bootloader (shut down, reboot by holding volume down and the power button). The first line or something will say S-On or S-Off.
Okay thanks, i will try it next week.

Since you are the first person I have seen even mention this "goldcard", I imagine the answer would be no.
I am curious, and I'm sure there are others. Could you give a brief explanation of this "goldcard" witchcraft with which you are acquainted?
I'd settle for a link to read, if you know of one.
A little info

Interesting.
Has this been successful on any of HTC's more recent devices? I can't imagine an exploit that dates back to the Hero, would work on the more recent devices. I imagine what we are dealing with now, has been in place since the MT3G Slide. Wasn't that the first device that could not be S-OFF'd?
Would be awesome if it did, though.

I did a little digging, and it appears that this would not work on anything that shipped with Gingerbread.
This only works on devices that have both a stock Gingerbread and Froyo ROMs. The Gingerbread ROM is exploited with the "goldcard", which allows a downgrade to a Froyo ROM. The Froyo ROM is then the one that is actually used to S-OFF the device. Once the S-OFF flag is set, it remains in perpetuity.
Since there is no Froyo ROM to downgrade to, it won't work, we wouldn't be able to make use of an HBOOT that old on the Amaze ROMs. I think someone already tried to flash an older version of an ENG HBOOT, and was unsuccessful.
You can try this if you like... I'm still waiting for input. I'm too cowardly to try it myself since a phone is of vital importance for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18770379&postcount=54
And a few posts prior to that said that the goldcard method didn't work. ref post #49.
Don't try it guys this is a year old or so and it was hard to do on the devices it was made for.

Can I flash HTC ICS ROM over an ICS operator ROM ?

Hello,
My Evo 3D is hboot is locked and not rooted.
I hope install the official ICS over the the operater ICS ROM,
Can I do it ?
Thanks
Are you cdma or gsm?
Either way, if you are not rooted, just take the OTA update from your carrier.
With my old DESIRE S (not rooted), i installed a goldcard and then ICS was installed.
For EVO 3D, can I do the same : use a goldcard and install an official HTC ICS (actually I change my operator) ?

If you know how to make the Gold Card, then you can do the same thing, but make sure to have the proper RUU on the card.

A Gold Card is essentially a blank micro SD card that has been HEX edited. Meaning, it allows the phone to install the stock ROM off of it without being rooted/unlocked.
I remember using it to go back to full stock back when I decided to unroot.
I guess it's 1 way HTC can restore phones back to stock after fixing them, but I doubt they use that method.
Hello,
I know that the Goldcard is attached to a microSD not attached to a cellular phone. I have a SD card hacked with the Goldcard, used for update a Desire S.
So, I can use this SD for EVO 3D, and execute the official RUU*.exe.
But my principal question was : can I flash an official Android 4.0.4 ROM over my actual Android 4.0.4 operator ROM ?

The kernel actually doesn't have much to do with your situation, but that's another explanation for another time. All you need to do is follow my guide for the unbranded HTC Amaze and you should be able to get your phone running you may even be able to go to post number 2 and get it working for now on GB
First things first, what company is your device from?
I tried
