I have cm7 running on my tablet and it runs great, but Im wondering why no one has bothered to use its drivers and stuff to port something like Miui or even post up themed tweaked versions of CM7?
Cozy its stilling its alpha stage. Wait for it to become a final version and u will sweethis forum filled up with custom rom's and such...

Well, at least a public RC. I'm more interested in CM9.
Sent from my very "non-stock" TP.
Leoisright had a good rom going, but it's in closed testing now because of all the idiots not reading directions/ bashing his work.

Would this qualify as a tweaked version of CM7?

i was thinking about this the other day, isn't it taking alot longer than usual, compared to let's say a HD2? That initial hype of porting Android on to the touchpad seems to have died down.
not saying this in an impatient way or demoralizing developers and their hard work, cuz they are doing one heck of a job to get peoplewhat they want most of all on their fondle slab
....is it because not many developers are interested in the touchpad?...couldn't get hold if one?
That said HP's new move of selling touchpads only to developers might work in favour of getting some momentum to port Android on it

I'd be really interested in seeing a Sense ROM ported from the Puccini/Jetstream. A lot of the hardware is apparently quite similar, and it'd probably make for a better tablet-ified experience while we wait for ICS.
Although, with ICS so close, it's probably not worth it.

ICS source comes out in a couple weeks.
It would be pointless to spend weeks working on a port of something, if the new version comes out shortly.
Devs are just waiting for ICS source to drop.
Plus the HD2 was a totally different scenario.
It was made by one of the largest android phone makers, and the hardware in the phone was similar to its android counterparts.
Why don't you make us one minds?

the Touchpad is not an android tablet!!!
It is a WebOS tablet.
It takes a lot of work to get a different OS working properly.
name me other tablets that have stable android and did not come stock with android.
don't forget the people working on this are not getting paid.
This is not their day job.

B&N uses a modified version of FroYo for the Nook Color. Source is available for the kernel.
I think another factor is the Touchpad is not easily accessible for some people. Maybe it was easy to get yours, but I had a little bit of trouble. Missed the sales and ended up paying more for mine.

I'm happy with what has been posted so far from CM. I haven't had a lot of issues with what has been released. I guess I have too much going on to be concerned with changes to the touchpad. I can patiently wait for ICS to be released. I'd have to imagine it will be easier to work with since it ICS is designed with tablets in mind.

Ok, so has anyone attempted to flash this onto our att SGS2? I have been messing with flashing the i9000 ICS directly onto my captivate and other than button configuration it is fun to mess with.
I KNOW some people flashed i9100 based roms onto our i777 phones in the beginning and it is not a good idea.
NOW saying that, for the captivate using the i9000 ICS they have been able to flash back between the ASOP build and CM7 with no issues since they both are using mtd. But since our phones are not using mtd I would assume it would be different? So basically I was wondering if we would be able to flash in between AS LONG AS WE ARENT FLASHING BOOTLOADERS? Glad to see some interest for ICS for our phones as well. I was thinking the older SGS phones would have/will have it before us

That video was pretty good, for an alpha release. I'm really looking forward to that. On a related note, AT&T needs a Nexus device NOW, because I would like stock, unskilled ICS (and beyond) with all of the updates and future support it entails.
They are already up to Alpha 6! Looks like touch was fixed.
I see all these devices getting ICS, hell even vibrant and captivate have a port, and the only 2 threads i saw that mentioned ICS being worked on, are no longer active in development, so whats the deal? ICS themes are cool and all but theme is a theme, i want the full ice cream goodness. Is there anyone currently working on a 4.0 ROM?
Yes, multiple devs are currently working on a port. I believe codeworx is getting very close.

i'm not flaming although it will probably look like I am - why are people so impatient about ICS? I have never seen so many "where's ICS?" threads compared to the Gingerbread update, for example.
I agree however you can't blame android enthusiasts for being overly excited about the release of ics. Although gingerbread was a great release, ics is much more of a major release because of it basically merging gingerbread with honeycomb, making it unlike any other android release to date.

They're working on it with the I9100.
Personally, I'm waiting until there's a kernel source drop for the Linux 3.0.9 kernel for I9100 ICS - I'll start porting work then.
ICS ports based on 2.6.35 are interim hackjobs.

Because it's been a year since GB.
Not trying to sound impatient, I was following a couple deb's and saw that they had stalled/stopped development and couldn't find any other threads with active ics development. More curious to see if it's being worked on or waiting for my leaks

Mainly waiting for more leaks - It's luck of the draw whether a device's vendor-proprietary libraries will work with ICS or not.
They apparently got lucky with the I9000/Captivate, not so lucky with the I9100.
You have to keep in mind that it is EXTREMELY rare for there to be an AOSP device bringup to be completed in any reasonably functional form before an official vendor firmware for a given device (or at least a very similar device) becomes available.

Is it possible to install CM9 on my HTC legend? I really want Ice Cream Sandwich on it
Didn't you already post ics alpha 2 in the dev forum?
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I just tried downloading a CM9 alpha for Legend named Cofface, hmm.
Anyone have a download link for it?
Saw a chinese link in the dev forum, but the download speed was too slow (10kb/s)
I believe there is already a rom that has ported ICS onto the legend but it has quite a few issues that have yet to be fixed, thus making it a less viable choice when finding a suitable rom/. However if you mean the CM 9 rom that will be released by Cyanogen mod team themselves, I have my doubts they are planning on making one for the legend. Keep our hopes up with the other awesome developers that are working on the roms for legend (if there still are any..)
Maybe ali ba can confirm this?
Will there be officiall CM9 for the legend?
The closest to Ice Cream Sandwich on the HTC Legend is the alpha stage rom OP posted in development section.
If your asking whether Cyangenmod would be officially releasing CM9 based on ICS soon, the answer would be no. As iirc Cyanogenmod would be focusing on processors that are newer and a bit more powerful than the HTC Legends.

ali ba, why you don't say something about zeubea's CM9? Seems like you still think that CM9 it's impossible in our Legends.
It's funny that HTC Said that was impossible to have a working Gingerbread ROM in our Legends, and you just make the best Gingerbread ROM, and now you say that it impossible to have a working ICS ROM on our Legends, and Zeubea makes a working ROM
i didn't intend my former post to be provocative/degrading in any form. to the contrary, i am very grateful for what ali ba has done & achieved for us legend users!
i just wanted to ask if the recent progress by zeubea, in bringing ics pretty smoothly running with hw acceleration onto the legend & getting all the other hardware components pretty much sorted, could enable official cm9 support for the legend...

I would just like to point out Ali ba didn't actually say ics can't run on legend, if he did I must have missed that post. He said that he already made an ics port for his legend and it didn't run very good, no drivers for GPS,wifi etc and that he'd have to use froyo and/or gingerbread drivers which he didn't want to do, or release a rom that was cobbled together from hacks, or words to that effect.
I also recall that he made mention that ics he made would have been no better than an ics themed froyo or gingerbread O/S.

What I tried to say is that he said we wont see an STABLE ICS ROM, I know it's possible to run all android versions on our Legend (Including Honeycomb), but the problem it's to make an stable rom.
And don't get me wrong, I like all the good work ali ba made with CM7 just because we won't pay him to do that. And if he thinks that it's impossible to have a good ICS ROM on our Legends, I respect his opinion.

No, he didn't. He guessed there won't be *an official CM9*, which is something different.
I'm not an expert on CM decision making, but here's my take: to be included, CM9 on the Legend would need to be stable AND high quality.
(in the bad old days, I tried several WinMo4/5/6 ROMs which were a) stable and b) awful, full of flaws and sloppy design details that would probably get an Apple dev fired).
Ali Ba's CM7.1 changed my opinion on hobby ROMs; it's so polished, I think HTC should OTA it as the official ROM for all Legend users. Thanks again.
I haven't tried zeuba's ROM yet (still too experimental for me), but I hope this will lead to a high-quality ICS ROM, too. No idea if/how/when it will be made official by CM.
(note to self: gotta send that dude a donation, he's really spending a lot of time, and making serious progress; good for all of us).
Does anyone know if something (drivers, ram,...) fundamentally compromises ICS on Legend (like "max 10 apps installable"), or could it become really slick (like ICS on One V) if a reasonable amount of work is put into it?

The thunderbolt development has been on hold for months now... I run Liquid 3.2 with the imo kernel and it really is amazing. Like anyone else though I want more. Is it just me or is Team BAMF being selfish? How could they release a ROM without the RUU? I am grateful towards them but the truth is after being a sense fanboy for ever and finally giving AOSP a chance I will never look back. I tried the leak and it just brought back old angry memories. The lag to me is unbearable for a 1ghz 768 mb phone with ICS. I am sure the desensed version is better but here is my real question. Can AOSP developers start working on AOSP roms without the RUU? And do you guys think we will have any good AOSP roms untill the kernel source is released?
The only reason why I think I can be totally wrong right now is...if BAMF was being selfish why wouldn't they release the new radio? Unless they didn't update the radio I can't see a reason as to why they would hold back.
I just really can't wait for an official legit Liquid ICS AOSP rom with a new imo kernel build from source no de-compiling.

They held back because it was a test build from April. I bet there isn't a new radio or hboot with the test as it was a test. I also would put money down that the reason the build is so laggy is because it is a test. If you're worried about the lag and want a functioning ics rom then I don't understand why you haven't flashed liquid ics. Everything works and I have used it as a dd since they got data working with it.

i havent checked in the RUU if there is new radio(s) in it, but often times RUU's are not released at the request of the leaker
they're more identifiable than a rom made off of them, and the debug/tracking apks are removed from roms made from them
for the inc2 i was asked to remove the debug apps from the rom before releasing, and that would not be possible in the RUU
no one is entitled to anything either way....someone gave files to a certain individual/group in the hopes they would do whats best for the masses with it...if the leaker felt that everyone would benefit from releasing the RUU, it would have happened
there is nothing file wise that is a RUU and not a rom made from it that would benefit aosp anyway....all the bins/libs and associated files are the same
theres no *magic* in there....kernel source code is the most important thing in that area

Worse come to worse, do a Nandroid and flash a few ICS builds to try them out. If you don't like it restore back. I see some posts of people using Liquids ICS as a DD. Might be worth trying. I personally am waiting this weekend to see if anything else gets released just to get some kinks out due to the fact I use my phone for work and need the functionality of my phone. Liquids ICS is not based off of that leak from Teambamf and hopefully now that the leak has come out they may find it useful to perfect their Rom a bit more.
Again thanks to all the Devs for all the hard work they do!
Currently using Thundershed 1.6. Zoom Kern.
I use liquid ics as my dd and I have no issues yet.

I am loving this rom. Even with its little quirks. I just can't wait for the new build. I have been scrolling these forums every 5 minutes. lol
