I (finally) upgraded to the Official CM7.1 and Google apps yesterday (From CM 7.03).
Wiped Dalvik only.
After the update, Market worked fine, and there was an update to Google Maps. I upgraded, did a quick test, and it seemed fine.
A few hours later, there was another Google Maps update to 6.0 (B) with Inside Maps, so I updated again -- Normal update through the Market.
I can navigate around, but doing much anything results in a freeze and FC pretty quickly.
Nothing else at all has FC since I updated.
Now the Web-Based Market says maps is incompatible with my device, but there is no official way to get a working, current Google Maps.
I know I can re-install Google Apps, but I just wanted to warn people not to try 6.0 for the moment.
I'll post a logcat if anybody wants it.
Similar running GtabComb3.3 (B/L 1.2) , but the tablet will reboot shortly after launching Maps (latest updated version).
It'll reboot shortly after launching......while in Maps using it or if you just launch Maps (like accidentally or such) and exit back to the homescreen........a few seconds later...REBOOT. Every time.
I've uninstalled updates so the tablet doesn't reboot, but I need the previous version so I can at least be more updated than what comes with GtabComb
6.0.1 is out now. It worked for a few seconds and then same problem as before. Reboot and broken wifi. Had to uninstall update again.
Yes, Google Maps 6.x will not work on the Gingerbread ROMs for the GTablet... looks like an opengl issue...
Google maps reboot
So has anyone found a way to install an older version. I have tried un-installing maps and installing an old version. Keep getting, unable to install.
I have been having the same issue on both CM7 and Flashback.
**EDIT**
After looking into the GAPPS zip I had, apparently Maps is not included. So I found a copy of maps version 5.10.1 laying around on my PC, I added it to the package and tested it. No Force closes so far. I have uploaded it for anyone else having this issue.
Link mapsgapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Just saw there was a 6.03 update for my Dell Streak.
So I updated the Streak, pulled the .apk, and installed it on the GTab.
No luck. 6.03 is no better. Constant hang and FC.
I also have a 5.x around that I was smart enough to pull from the Streak before the first update to 6.0x, but thanks to trock79 for posting a fall back.
Wait for 6.04, rinse, repeat.
It's fixed!
I updated the latest maps (released on 4/25) and the issue has been fixed!
Hurray!!!
Not for me.
I wiped everything, and upgraded to Official CyanogenMod 7.2 RC2.
Installed latest (Current) Maps from market.
--> Almost immediate bad crash requiring a reboot.
I wonder if this has anything to do with 1.1 B/L vs. 1.2?
I'm on 1.1 (never upgraded)
maps crash
I was running Flashlight, GB, 1.2 and was crashing. Flashed CM 7.2 RC 3, still crashes.
So is the current fix to get a working google maps is to stick with the v.5 install?
I'm on G-Harmony ICS, bootloader 1.2

Just wondering if anyone has been able to successfully update Google Music? When I attempt to update from the Market, it errors out after downloading. It says installing for a bit then "Error: Package file was not signed correctly"
Currently, I'm on GS2.4.4
:edit:
Apparently you have to uninstall 4.0.1 first. Duh! Guess I tried everything but google... I'll go to my corner now.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2011/...sic-4-0-9-app-now-live-on-the-android-market/
Posted too soon. Couldn't just uninstall, so used Root Explorer to delete /system/app/music.apk
Reboot and install of 4.0.9 from Market was successful. However, it just FC.
More work to be done.
: edit:
Ignore me. Uninstall/reboot/re-install and now it works
Mine updated perfectly fine except oddly enough it does not look like the preview of the app I saw on theverge.com. Is it showing the tablet version? As it shows cover art in portrait mode, btw i'm still on streakdroid 2.3 though as it has been stable for me, so this may be the reason my update went fine.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Problem was that tenorntex's ICS theme flashed a leak'd 4.0.1
I tried using Root Explorer and deleting /system/app/music.apk (when I had 4.01) but kept getting the error "App already exists" even after rebooting.
I still couldn't download the market version for some reason so I snagged the 4.09 from here
You cant install 4.09 if you have 4.01 installed as they apparently have different certs, this is true for all apps
I have a problem, my droid razr was having problems updating apps and getting an error 941, people said to uninstall the update to fix it so I did that and the market (play store) disappeared. I found the apk and re-installed the play store but whenever I try and update my apps its FC and keeps FC untill I clear the cache and data. Does anyone have a solution to this? Nothing is working.
I had the same problem on my XPlay. Try this: rootzwiki.com/topic/15092-invertedtotally-inverted-apps-3-16-play-store-updated/ - look for Vending.apk.
You get zip file. Flash it in recovery.
Sent using r800i with DoomKernel v11 (1.21ghz)
it's for ICS
That's just real nice, but it's a solution for those who have Ice Cream Sandwich
Same problem on my tablet running Android 2.2.1 (Entourage eDGe) rooted and instaled gapps, even get newest google play and worked fine till today.
Do not know what happened.
Nothing I do won't work.
Best I got is after everething cleared in apps properties to have "server error" in market.
Also noticed Talk is not working anymore and I can not add another google account in "account & sync menu".
Gmail, youtube and contact works fine.
wi-fi working and only connection (tried on diferent AP)
Noticed also simmilar problem on one of my smartphones and solved by going on cell data and everything worked fine on wi-fi also after that.
I think tehre is a store version with bug and mod from site in my first post is older so it works. try to delete android updater.apk and than install older version [need root]
I have solved my problem..
..by upgrading my CM7.1 version to the 7.2 RC in my motorola Defy. I can't post the links, but search for CM7 7.2 RC (http www cyanogenmod com / blog / cyanogenmod-7-2-0-rc1-is-upon-us)
Alright folks. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100. Jellybean 4.1.2 Stock Samsung.
I recently updated Google Maps to the newest version available. I think its 7.x or something. I don't like it. Many streets and addresses are not showing up. So I went into SETTINGS > APPLICATION MANAGER > Maps > Uninstall Updates.
Once this process was finished, I am left with 3 applications in my Application tray:
com.google.android.maps.driveabout.app.DestinationActivity
com.google.android.maps.MapsActivity
com.google.android.maps.PlacesActivity
When I click on any one of them, either Google Maps, the previous version starts - which is great. Or Local. Or Navigation starts.
Now, these 3 applications have a generic Android icon next to them. Is there anyway I can get my "Google Maps", "Navigation" and "Locals" Icons and application names back?
Thanks.
Did you try to reboot? You didn't mention this in your post. Maybe it solves your problem

I did reboot the phone. That did not solve the issue. I did however solve the problem. What I did was I just downloaded the maps apk version 6.14.4 from some website and installed it. This brought back the proper icons and proper names of all 3 apps. Navigation, Local and Maps. So all's well and good now. I still get the the update prompt that I should update to the latest. But I hate the latest at this point.
Problem Solved.

Hello,
atfer i updated from ArchiDroid 2.2.3 to 2.2.4 i saw that GMaps wasnt shown in the Launcher anymore, so i checked and it isnt even installed on my device.
When i try to install it from the Play Store i get the Error Code: Incompatible with other applications(s) using the same shared user ID
So i tried to flash the latest GApps package for CM but still GMaps isnt showing up.
Does anybody know how i can fix this problem?
Regards,
Fixi
Same Problem
Have got exactly the same problem using ArchiDroid V1.7.3, issue was mentioned in the Develpoment section but the only solution offered was to wait a few hours until Google Play recognises the phone.
The rom been installed for several days now & I'm still unable to install G Maps from the store due to the ID issue, short of reinstalling the rom has anybody got any thoughts?
Thanks...
Hey.
You can download inverted GMAPS directly from my github -> https://github.com/JustArchi/ArchiD...system/app/com.google.android.apps.maps-1.apk then put into /system/app. Otherwise make sure that there's no uninstalled junk left in /system/app and /data/app directories. You can also clear google store's data. Eventually if everything fails you can full wipe and make sure to UNTICK google maps in aroma (if you don't want inverted version), it's unticked in the default configuration.
Let me know if you have further problems.
Have fun with ArchiDroid.
All Done
Many thanks for the info Archi, worked perfectly. Love the Rom, super smooth... :victory:
Hi,
I'm on XtreStoLite 2.4 5.1.1 on my S6 edge for months now. All was working perfectly. Recently, GPS started crashing randomly, but except for the error, services and sync seemed to be working fine. Now ytdy armageddon started and now Google apps connected to GPS (search, keep, music, but not play store for example) will not run and get killed instantly.
What I did based on what ive found:
- deactivated play services, uninstalled updates and restored the account, GPS 9.0.83 (240-121911109)
- wiped cache/dalvik which helped for couple of minutes
appreciate any help!
I've had problems too with the latest play services on LG G4 H815 6.0 v20d. Google Play Services crashes non boot and Google Chrome crash after a few seconds of opening.
Uninstalling updates fixed it but I'm told by many apps that I need the latest version. I didn't wipe cache though.

True, stopped the apps from crashing, but made them unusable, even Inbox which worked just fined on the corrupted (?) version.

Got a fix. Google apps working. No force closes/errors. Root needed to prevent auto-update to latest version.
i) Get to the May 7th (or earlier) Play Services from here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/
Look at the notes at the top to see which version you need arm or 64 ect.
In you're case, it's '240' so arm64 + arm android 5.0+ version. Direct download for you link: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...s-9-0-81-240-121617224-android-apk-download//ii) Enable airplane mode to prevent updates
iii) Then just install the apk on top of your rolled back version. Apks only install if version is newer.
iv) Using a root-enabled file manager like ES File Explorer, open \data\app and create two new, empty folders titled com.google.android.gms-1.apk and com.google.android.gms-2.apk. This tricks Google into causing auto updating of your GPS to fail.
v) Reboot (important)
Optional) Set Google Play Services as a device administrator again under security settings for Device Manager features.
If you get an error during install, then follow this guide to install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/delete-disable-downgrade-prevent-update-t3091832

Edit: yep. Same here. When I turn internet back on, it updates to latest version. Try installing an older version.
I'll try and find another way to stop auto updates.
Same problem here, uninstalled services by titanium then installed back by apk and flashed open gapps, worked for me
None of those worked for me. Well, I used the opportunity to update XtreStoLite to MM, and problem disappeared, obviously
However, come to think of it, it could have sth to do with Amplify killing processes. Thing is, I didn't manipulate with anything there recently, but after activating xposed module on updated ROM i saw some crashes again. Anyway, I disabled it in any case now, want to see how the battery will last on the updated ROM, but it could be connected

Were you by any chance changing your phones emojis? I was and rebooted and noticed the GPS crash. Undoing emoji changes didn't fit it.
