Back button in MMS - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know why sometimes you can cycle through 15 back presses in the MMS app before it goes to the home screen? I find that a lot of apps have the same problem, including Twitter, but much more noticeable in MMS.

[Q] Keyboard Issue

I'm having an issue where when inputting text into sms the keyboard will minimize and start spacing non-stop until i hit the back button to stop it, open the keyboard back up, and backspace a bunch to get rid of the spaces. I dont see a pattern to when it happens, its totally random. Happens with all keyboards (currently using multi-touch) and it happens in Handcent and the standard SMS app. I'm not sure if it happens in email because I dont type many from my phone. It has been an issue on 4 different ROMs also. Any clue as to what is causing this? Its very annoying!
Any ideas at all?

IMHO the stock email app sucks, switch to K-9. It actually works.
Will do. Trying it now. See what I think. Thank you

Odd Behavior

Lately, several times, but not every time, when my phone rings the screen stays black while the bottom buttons light. I have to press the power button once to turn off the light completely and again where the screen lights normally and then I can answer the call. Any ideas of solutions to this weird problem?

Sorry, I have no solution nor have I heard of this. But guessing, did you install something like Google Voice, skype, or some other phone app?
Actually, no. It must be an app, tho

Messaging app

I always delete the stock messaging app and browser (among other apps), i use dolphin and gosms but I think deleting the stock message app is keeping me from receiving pictures.. Can someone please upload the apk for me

Not nativly no. SMS/MMS does not work over wifi, regardless of the source phones type...( iMessage will do this yes, but iMessage is not using SMS/MMS even though they do it from the same app. it's handleted totally diffrent, and it's only iphone to iphone, there is no option to get an imessage on an android, it's apple gear only).
I froze the legacy sms app with BT.
Then loaded gosms. No pictures would pass thru. Even after making adjustments in advanced.

I've always been scared to delete stock messaging app
Any phone speed, ram, or other benefit obtained from this?
I normally just leave it alone, and disable notifications.
You can even hide the app in the app drawer if you're using Go Launcher, other launchers may have this ability as well.

[Q] Can I disable screen on when I receive an sms?

I hate how my screen turns on when I receive an sms message. I only need the notification icon in the taskbar and the led blink and if I disable the notifications from the settings the screen does not open but I loose the other notifications as well. Any ways to fix this?

Bump
interested in that too
Don't know if it's possible with the stock app, however if you're willing to use a 3rd party app, Go SMS does have an option to keep the screen off and quite possibly other apps do too.

switch to HANDCENT SMS, it is the best sms app, i am using it for a year now. Go to setting and disable pop-up. Now when you receive a message, it will vibrate, led will blink, but screen will not turn on. You will ses the message in the notification bar.

That's what I'm using right now but I want to minimize the use of third party apps as much as possible . Plus with handcent sms when I send a picture or video it doesn't work. I have to use the regular messaging app in order for my mms to leave successfully .

Still no solution for this one. I don't want to use handcent or go sms for two reasons. First I like the simplicity if the stock samsung app and second I use the direct call feature that only works with stock app. There must be a way to hack the default messaging app to stock opening the screen when receiving a message.

BUMP. This feature is sooooo annoying!!!!
It irritates me also. I've used Handcent on every device in the past, but I don't want to for some reason on this one. I actually rather like the stock messaging app.
I suppose I'll go back to Handcent. The screen on is annoying, plus it creates a temporary wakelock that drains the battery even more.
