Rooting and custom rom question - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G for TMobile. Im interested in rooting it and using a custom rom. But most of what I'm seeing if for the WiFi or LTE version.
Anyone know if the TMobile 4G version can be rooted and which custom rom I can used on it?

this question should be posted in the Q&A or General section bro. There are no Roms for that version tablet that I know of yet.

no roms, but you can flash my kernel on your stock rom.
_tmo in filename.

Oops, my bad. Can a mod move this to the proper section?

[Q] t-mobile galaxy tab 10.1 4g

Bought the T-mobile galaxy tab 10.1 4g. I am interested in rooting the device so that I can remove unwanted bloatware. I am somewhat concerned by the absence of any comment on the device. I have one week to return it. Should I? Seems that not one single person has an interest in tweaking this device. I thought that this site would have root instructions on line within hours of the November release. I am concerned that it has not. It has version 3.2. Please advise. Thanks.
I too an anxiously awaiting some coverage on this... love the tablet, but dont willing to risk experimenting with it w/o more experience recovering devices.
The largest number of people here by far have Wi-Fi Tabs (P7510) followed by 3G Tabs (P7500). I'd guess about 15-25% have VZW LTE Tabs. Support for the latter dev wise and even from VZW has been pretty light. The good news is the T-Mobile Tab isn't 4G, but 3G HSPA+, the same as the international P7500. The only difference is it supports T-Mobile's funky AWS bands. Depending on how similar it is to the P7500, you may be able to use its ROMs. Post in the dev section and see if one of the P7500 dev's can help figure it out.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Stock recovery?
Question:
Any of you who have rooted found/have a copy of the stock recovery in case I need to return or resale? I've been searching for a while and can't figure which one is the one for the US TMO variant.
TIA

Looks like there is plenty of them, particularly international versions. Model seems to me that is 7500. However, I'm not flashing anything until I find the stock restore for Recovery - my previous post.
(Woops... just realized I flashed CWM Recovery last night in order to root so I could unlock radio . So much for being careful grrr)
Has anyone tried any of the available ROMs?

Custom ROM for specific devices?

Hi all,
I just received my Rogers galaxy tab '4G' (3G) and I am wanting to root, unlock bootloader and put CWM onto it. I have already done so with my Atrix 4G, and this process seems fairly easier. My question is, Are there certain ROMs specific to the 3G version? or could I load any ROM on as long as I use the right Kernel? Also are there any 3G users that can tell me what ROM they are currently using?
Thanks,
Tayshun
I'm also new to the galaxy 10.1 section. I found this thread in the development section which proved quite handy and answered my questions.

The rom they show for the 3G model seems outdated. Thats why I was wondering if I could flash a WIFI ROM as I will not be using 3G anyways.

Can sprint Galaxy S3 be rooted yet?

I've been looking in the dev section and see some recoveries and such but everything seems to be for the international model. Not new to this stuff, have rooted Epic 4g with many different roms, but considering getting this phone and want to know if I'll be able to install different roms and kernels.

Go to the US forum for the S3, this is the thread for the International S3
There you find a toolkit by Mskip to root your phone.

CM12

Is there a CM12 Rom for are T-Mobile Galaxy S5? I have looked all over and with searching I found lots of CM12 roms but they are not for T-Mobile and I don't want to Brick my phone so I don't want to change it. I don't see any at all in the T-Mobile section of XDA.

You can run ANY of the CM12 based Roms in the unified development section. As long as they say they are for the "KLTE" they will work on the T-Mobile version.
I run Temsek's CM12 rom on mine.

Extreme Noob question.

I have what was a Verizon Samsung S4. After switching SIMS from my old LG Leon LTE, and some help from MetroPCS, it is now running on the MetroPCS (T-Mobile) network. The phone is currently at Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop).I would like to upgrade it to Marshmallow. My question: Should my questions here about custom ROMS be addressed to the Verizon Samsung S4 forum, since the stock rom has not been upgraded or customized, other than being rooted, or should my questions be directed to the T-Mobile Samsung S4 forum, since I'm on their network now, and an upgrade of my rom, still using their network, is what I wish to achieve. As the thread title denotes, this is an extreme Noob question, but I'd appreciate an answer. Thank you in advance.
You are gonna have to stick with the Verizon Galaxy S4 forums for your device. The firmware for the Verizon and T-Mobile variants are different and if you attempted to flash the wrong software you would likely end up with a bricked device. My best suggestion for you is to use your Google-Fu and search for everything you can find about using a Verizon Galaxy S4 on MetroPCS. There is a ton of good, useful information in the Verizon Galaxy S4 General forums and the Q & A Forums. Scroll through the stickies and read, read, read. This will give you the most relevant answers to your questions. Also, are you currently rooted? Do you have a custom recovery installed like CWM or TWRP?

Thank you so much for your reply. As noted in my post, "the stock rom has not been upgraded or customized, other than being rooted". I have done nothing to the phone aside from rooting it via Kingo Root, and getting MetroPCS to switch the IMEI from Verizon to MetroPCS. I guess my real question was: Am I now running a Verizon Samsung S4 on the T-Mobile (MetroPCS) network or, since I'm successfully on the T-Mobile (MetroPCS) network am I now running a T-Mobile (MetroPCS) Samsung S4? My hesitation is based on what you stated. I don't want to brick my phone based on loading the wrong carrier based ROM.

I don't want to waste Verizon guys time with T-Mobile (MetroPCS) questions, or vice-versa. Thanks again.
