[Q] Eclipse ROM - charging phone issue - Motorola Droid X2

I just loaded the Eclipse ROM, and have been running it for about a week now. When the phone dies and I plug in the charger, it lights up to the dual core screen, but when it's charged I can't turn the phone on via the power button, but have to pull the battery. And it takes an act of god to then turn on the phone. Took me a few battery pulls this last time around to be able to fire it up. Any ideas on a fix for this?

sounds like your phone is getting stuck between loading BSR and the charge mode. When you pull the battery, unplug it before you put it back in. phone should boot normally. Maybe try to reinstall System recovery and re-set recovery mode, (or charge mode if that's what you want it to do, not a good choice in my opinion though.)

How would I reinstall System Recovery? It looks to be part of the Eclipse ROM (settings -> Eclipse Parts -> Bootstrap Recovery). There's a "Install Recovery", "Recovery Mode", and "Charge Mode" option. Should I just try the "Install Recovery" or do I need to uninstall something first?
When the phone is fully charged I unplug the phone, then pull the battery.
thx

yeah "install recovery" and then plug in and recovery mode. phone will reboot and load BSR, if it works reboot. this way if the phone dies on you and you plug it in it should load to BSR and charge, once charged for a few mins you can reboot and let it charge while powered on.

OK I hit "Install Recovery" which it did, then "Recovery Mode", then it rebooted into recovery. I then rebooted the phone and waited til it died, then plugged in the charger. Now it boots into recovery. Still no charging mode, but at least I can reboot the phone. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to charging while the phone is off? This bugs me, but if it's a non-issue then I guess I won't worry about it.
thx

No benefit really....having it charged while off just means u can't use.it while its charging
But charging while in BSR is just fine also.
BUT if you REALLY want that battery to show up while charging, go into eclipse parts recovery. Press charge mode.
I highly recommend against it cuz if u don't reinstall recovery after charging and u change something bout ur phone u wont be able to get into BSR to restore a nandroid if bootlooping if charge mode was set last

As far as I know yes that is correct. I have never gotten inti it without a wall plug
well that sucks
Hope we can eventually get a reg one that you can just hard boot in to like normal with past devices.
I Hope So Too, The Reason We Have To Plug Into The Wall Is That The Recovery App Hijacks Charge Mode And Brings Up CWM In Its Place.
Pulling the batt always triggers recovery mode w/o choosing mode from the sys recv apk BTW.
But I had dates that were out of wack if I did a recovery from a back up that was done with a battery pull.
So I always choose recov If doing a BU O/w I use a battery pull.
It's Hijacked Until You Either Hit Charge Mode Or Uninstall So If You Power Off Plug In And Wait CWM Will Come Up. Pulling The Battery Has No Say For The Hijack From System Recovery.

I agree the only way it gets you ti recovery is because the power is off after the battery comes out.
there is really no.need for battery pull unless you cannot get your phone to do.anything. ie. The screen freezes up.

[Q] Atrix stuck on Moto bootscreen, unable to enter CWM recovery

I'm pretty new to the whole flashing business, so if whatever I asked does not make sense, please be patient. Thanks!
I recently flashed the Neutrino Rom V2.6 from V2.5p2. Got lazy and didn't do a full wipe before flashing (also my battery was at ~5% ) After the installation, I successfully booted into Android, but realized that the fresh ROM didn't have multilingual or sync support (since the Neutrino Rom is a stripped down CM7), so I booted back into recovery (still with low battery)
I subsequently flashed the addons provided by the dev for multilingual and sync support, and when I selected "Go back" in CWM recovery, it displayed a long string of error messages, I believe starting with E:\"........."
Ignoring the error messages, I selected "reboot system", hoping luck would be on my side, but it wasn't
the result of all this is is that I can only "turn on" the phone with it plugged, and it will go through loops at the Moto bootscreen...also if I try to enter recovery by pressing "power+vol down", the screen goes blank and does not enter CWM recovery. Further, I am also unable to charge the battery for some reason, because as soon as I plug the phone into the wall charger, it will go through the Moto bootloop
My question is, is this a hardbrick or softbrick?
If it's a softbrick, is there any way of fixing it, or has somebody else ran into a similar problem?
Please help me out here, like I said, I'm new to the whole world of flashing stuff, so much advice is needed, and any help would be appreciated!
Thanks a lot ahead of time

When I plug in the phone without battery, it just goes to the Moto boot screen, and starts the loop again...the usual "?" symbol doesn't appear at all
I've done battery calibration before, where it was required to plug phone into wall charger without battery, and the "?" has always appeared

Try getting to that menu and let it charge for a while? Have you tried that? ANd I mean, let it charge for about an hour. Charging might take longer than usual because your screen will be on.

sorry for the late reply...and thanks for all the help
no actually am not, I still can't get the battery charged up, which is the biggest issue right now...
I think if I can find someway to charge the battery without plugging in the phone, it's possible to enter fastboot with a charged battery
otherwise, even if I get to the bootloader menu (fastboot, nvflash, recovery etc etc), when I plug the phone into the computer and select fastboot, it'll still say "battery too low to flash"
Just a suggestion...trying to help. What if you find out a fresh charged battery before starting the recover procedure? I dunno if it will work because I dunno if there is some kind of serial number checking at this low level in the phone....I see that under no circunstances could you charge your battery again...

i use this method n it worked thanks..to bad my wifi still shows up error after i attempt to connect it it doesn't reboot thats good i think
low battery
Even i am stuck in recovery. No matter how many times i flash a ROM after wipe data/ cache partition and dalvik and then install the ROM i still boot into recovery when the ROM asks to reboot the device.
Here's what happened
1. Had a nandroid backup of older version of CWM mostly 5.0.2.x
2. Based on Nottachtrix thread installed the romracer recovery(updated flashable zip)
3. Updated to Nottachtrix 1.3.1 and successfully booted
4. Figured out that contacts everything weren't synced. So wanted to go back to older CM7 rom using restore ROM
5. Something went wrong during restoration. Data and other wern't restored and i guess only boot had been restored
6. Endless loop into recovery thereafter.
Trying out different things like flashing boot.img, recovery etc battery drained and couldn't flash.
Fasbtoot and other options triggered by using volume buttons and power button works fine. RDS also detects the device but bootloader unknown and other info all were unknown.
Since battery drained i was searching on methods to charge the battery. Had figured out that custom method for charging the phone needs to be implemented.
While playing around again with phone i powered it through directly through charger and opted for linux cold-booting which gave me the battery icon with the question mark on screen. Popped in the battery and it started to charge. So now i know i can charge the battery using this method.
I am yet to make progress on flashing ROM successfully again. Is my backup lost ? Did the error happen because i backed up using an older version of CWM or flashing to Nottachtrix changed something
I even restored successfully to my previous ROM after deleting .android secure from ext SDcard but still it threw me to CWM only :|
Help appreciated.

[Q]stuck at splash screen and wont go into bootloader

So I just used Bootmanager for the first time. I was having alot of issues so I rebooted and now it sits at the splash screen and it isn't going into the bootloader. Kind of freaked out.
What do I do to fix this?
Thanks.
are you s-on or s-off?
I'm S-off on 1.49
edit: sorry, I meant 1.40
If u can get to recovery, go to install zip and find the boot manager folder, look in there for a phone Rom folder, their will be an update.zip, flash it and reboot.
I can't get to the recovery. It wont even boot to the spash screen unless it's plugged in.
Pull the battery, put it back in, hold vol down and power, what happens?
Well if it's unplugged it wont do anything. But, if it's plugged in, it goes to the splash screen.
Plugged into what, ac power or USB to comp? Try taking out the sd card and then try vol down and power.
Either the usb to computer or AC. It does it for both.
Took out the sd, no change.
I haven't seen a prob like this, without hboot you'd never see the splash screen, it has to be there. Maybe leave the battery out for a few minutes then try holding vol down+power. If you can get to hboot then you're good but with no hboot your not so good.
Hmm, so my red charging led is blinking now while the phone is off, wasn't doing that before, any idea on what that means?
I know that when I drain my battery all the way till it shuts off, it won't charge and I get the blinking red led. I have to put in a spare battery and let the other sit for a few hours befor it'll charge.
What's it do when u just press power? Just goes to the white HTC screen and stays?
Yeah it does that, I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my vol down.
Does it feel like it "clicks"? Take the case off and try to press vol down+power.
edit..Lol, just tried it without the case and its not as easy as I thought.
It does click, I tried it without the case, it was working earlier today though. The last time I had it on, I was rebooting into recovery and the screen went black and just sat there, so I did a battery bull and that is where I am now, Would something have happened if I did a battery pull in that state?
I wouldn't think so... I've had to pull it in situations like that, generally you just don't want to pull the battery during an ruu update or a pg86img update, when its writing to certain partitions. What recovery are you using and what Rom did you try to flash with boot manager?
I'm using TWRP 2.0 and my phones rom was on mean rom. I put ics playground on slot 1 and was having alot of issues getting the phone to wake up and random freezes and crashes. I attempted to boot back to my phones rom but it wasn't doing it. So I attempted to flash Chads AnthaX ICS playground kernel and bootmanager crashed. so I decided I would just boot into recovery and do flash the update zip for bootmanager.
That is everything I did

It just sounds like something weird happened to your recovery partition. If you pull out the battery and put it back in, then plug a usb cable into your computer. Do not turn it on. Run the command "adb reboot bootloader" (from your computer). that should turn on the phone and put it into the bootloader. From there, redownload your custom recovery of choice to your computer. Make sure you have a .img file. Type in "fastboot flash recovery [NAMEOFRECOVERYIMAGE].img". Now run your custom recovery and restore the update.zip for your ROM.
~co~
I'd be very surprised if your phone is broken. Sounds like an easy fix and I wish I could help more. You really can't do anything without getting to the hboot screen. No ruu, no turning s-on to re downgrade, no loading a recovery from fastboot.... I'm trying to think, maybe somebody else will jump in here and teach both of us somethin.
I know that a couple of other ppl had prob with a certain release of playground and twistedumbrella fixed them right up. Maybe you could hit him up. He's way more pro than I am.

[Q] GSII won't turn on

Hi. for the longest time i've been running Cyanogen 10.1 on my device. Recently I've updated to 10.2. IN the instructions, it just said flash the new zip and the gapps then reboot. I did just that and my phone initially loaded well. it was able to update and such. However, I noticed that after booting, it would hang at the lockscreen for 2-3 seconds then reboot. To end the loop, i tried pulling out the battery. I then tried turning it on but it would only stop at the sII splash screen. I then pulled out the battery again. When plugged in, it would go to the battery charging screen but would hang after awhile so i pulled the batt once again. Now, even plugged, the battery screen won't load anymore. the screen would just open w/ a battery and hang there, then the screen would close and repeat. I tried entering download mode by the button-combo or the USB jig but still none. can anyone help me?
No download mode = not good. Try searching through king_rat (xda user) posts for his method to jump start into download mode.
You can also try:
1. Pull the battery, leave it out for a minute.
2. Replace the battery, but don't turn it on.
3. Hold the button combo for DL mode.
4. Get a friend to plug in the phone charger.
On a working phone, the above procedure would boot into DL mode.
Sent from a galaxy far, far away
flashing a zip wont make ur phone dead... u should try another battery and make sure the combo u are trying to enter download mode is correct
usb jig i guess doesnt works wid jb or later (due to bootloader updates bt i may b wrong so plz pardon)

[Q] Need help with my Droid Razr. (Bricked)

Hey guys,
I had purchased this phone awhile back in 2012 and The model is: XT912. I had rooted it and installed a Custom Rom (Black Widow). The reason why I stopped using it was because I had a cracked screen so I upgraded to a different phone but having alot of issues with my new phone. So I decided to replace my screen for my Droid Razr, but its been awhile since i've used it and been experiencing issues of my phone not booting up and looked online for multiple solutions but no luck.
Issues are:
- Phone needs a USB Wall Charger to be able to be turned on, battery is charged fully but when I unplug my USB Charger, my phone turns off. When I try to attempt to do a fastboot session, I connect my Stock Motorola USB Cable to my PC and on my phone, it shows a white light. But when plugged in to a wall charger, my phone boots up but doesn't boot anywhere besides the motorola logo.
- My phone boots up, shows the motorola logo and goes straight to battery charge and it shows 0% then 5% then 100% sits there for about 3 minutes and then reboots.
- When trying to go into recovery, it stays on the motorola and i've left it there for 24 hours abd no luck.
I've tried multiple things, but its been very aggravating since I've been trying to look up solutions for the past week but still had no luck.
Please help =(

The white light means that your battery is empty, try this:
Booting from AP fastboot to charging mode
If the Device will only boot to AP Fastboot and it says Battery Low
Connect the phone/Device ato a Wall Charger (not PC)
-In AP Fastboot Mode hold Volume down& power buttons at the same time for +10 seconds
- When screen goes black...release power button
-Then IMMEDIATELY press and hold Vol - and Vol+ to boot to Boot Menu.
- In Boot Menu scroll down with volume down to BP Tools, press volume up to select
- Device should boot to Charging Mode with battery icon
- Once battery is charged, try flashing in AP Fastboot again
This will only work if battery charging Firmware is still present and not corrupted
If Motorola Device will not boot to Charging Mode, a Fastboot cable will be needed.
You can buy it or you can make one by yourself, look at the picture.
If you can boot to AP Fastboot mode use this utility to flash stock rom, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr/development/droid-razr-utility-xt913-jellybean-t2861798

I've tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned above but no luck.
What I remember is that, back in the day when I installed the ROM, I wiped everything, incl. the Recovery partition and I believe android version it was on was ICS. When I installed Black Widow, everytime i would reboot it, i had to turn it on a certain way, sort of like safe mode. I've tried it though but no luck
Also, everytime I do plug in a charger, It does show a charge of 100% but once I unplug the USB, it turns off and the only way to turn it back on is plugging the USB back in.
I've also created the cable you've mentioned, but it still shows a white light when plugged into a PC. I've already replaced the battery and the battery is brand new. Just replaced it yesterday.
Any other suggestions? Is there a way to fastboot it so i can install a stock rom with the OTA?
Thanks.

You can't charge the phone with the fastboot cable,it is for flashing the stock rom with RSD Lite when your battery is low.
Here is everything you need
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3023837
Download Motorola drivers,RSD Lite, appropriate sbf file for your region and flash it.
Oh,use Windows 7,not Windows 8
Edit:
Use this utility because you have XT912

Ok, So I was able to get to the Boot Logo usuing HW Diag. and Boot AP and my screen would show safe mode activated, then it would boot up a logo and I believe its cyanogen mod. It has a Blue Droid with a ring circling around it, but then it restarts. Maybe if i'm able to boot it into safe mode from the beginning, i could start it up.
How do I boot it into safe mode when the phone is off?
