help - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

ok guys i odin the stock rom with root, how in the heck i get into recovery mode and install cm7? i tried rom manager and it didnt work any other ideas?

Rom manager does not work correctly on stock. (It will work once you are on cm7.) You need to install a kernel that contains ClockworkMod Recovery. If you install the kernel with Odin or Heimdall, it will increment the flash counter and cause the initial I9100 boot screen with yellow warning triangle. If this is a concern to you, use the Guide linked in my signature to avoid that.

kg6 rom manager cfroot incompatiblity?

I have a Odin flashed kg6 with cfroot also flashed giving me root.
I'd like to install cyanogen but when I install ROM manager and select install clockwork I can't reboot into it - I just get the stock recovery.
I see that there is clockwork for cwm with the cfroot and I can boot into that but I don't know how to install cyanogen unless I put an update.zip file on. In which case after I apply update.zip which finishes in a few seconds? ? Then a restart just hangs on the boot logo.
Is ROM manager for S2 incompatible or am I missing something?
I'm in exactly same boat, is CF-Root and cyanmod not going to work together or is it something on the firmware side, I've tried mutliple nightlies and XXKG1/2/3/5/6 with same result, ROM manager premium fails on signature and CWM that comes with CF-root does exactly as same as post above.
any help also appreciated.

[Q] CF-root to ClockworkMod (for cyanogenmod), and non-responsive launcher

Hi all,
I rooted my SGS2 (KE7) with CF-Root ages ago and haven't done much since then, aside from take regular backups.
Looking at the Cyanogenmod stuff, I fancy giving it a go. All the guides talk about using the kernel at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693 .
Does anyone know if I can flash the cyanogenmod ROM using the recovery mode I have with CF-Root, or if I need to get use the kernel from the above patch first?
This morning I tried installing the kernel (from the CF-Root CWM), when my phone rebooted, the touchscreen worked on the unlock page but not once I unlocked (I use LauncherPro as my launcher). Rebooting into recovery mode didn't work (the phone just booted normally) so I reflashed CF-Root but still had the same problem however I could boot into recovery mode and restore this morning's backup.
Now, the phone boots (with the warning triangle, expected) but there is no response after I unlock for a minute or so. Setting the stock launcher back works but I'm confused about why this should happen and what I should do next.
Does anyone know why my non-stock launcher is now being non-responsive for the first minute after boot / what I can do to get it back?
Am I able to install cyanogen with CF-root, or do I need to use the kernel in the above link? and if so, do I need to do anything other than just flash and if not why didn't the phone boot into recovery when I tried it earlier?
Any suggestions gratefully received!
-Jeff
The cf-root kernel is all you need to install cm7.

This is correct. However, after you install the cm7 .zip the first time, it will have only installed the kernel for cyanogen mod. So you will then need to boot back into recovery with 3 button mode and run the zip install again from there. You will then have CM7.

Don't quite understand this. I've got the cm_galaxys2_full-39.zip (100MB), I was going to put this on the SD card, boot into recovery mode and install from there. Are you saying I need to do this same process twice? (and if so, why does it only install the kernel the first time when it is the complete zip file?)
Cheers,

CF-root => Cyanogen mod
Hello everybody,
There are a few threads that discuss this question, but they all draw a different conclusion.
This one for instance : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367933 (or if the link is broken, search for : How can i use cf-root kernel for cm7?).
In the thread above they claim that CF-root is not compatible with CM7, however in this very thread there is said that when installing the .zip file twice, it should work just fine. As i'd like to install CM7 on my CF-rooted S2, i have to know for sure:
Is there a way to install CM7 on a CF-rooted device?
Many thanks
Rom manager doesnt work with cf root, so to flash cm7 download the zip, boot into recovery, and flash the zip twice, and it will work.
Make sure you wipe data and cache, and take backups before you do.

Ok, i'll give it a go .
Thanks for the quick response, it is much appreciated!

Will installing stock rom with odin help me here

I extracted some filed to my phone now it wont start, so I am trying to install some stock roms with odin, but will this possibly brick it? I have the bell canada version i think.
How else can i fix this?
What do you mean it wont start, does it bootloop, do you see the i9100 logo, a yellow triangle, or will it not turn on at all.
Can you get into CWM recovery or download mode? If you can only get into download mode, odin will work fine, just make sure to flash the proper roms. (If you have the i9100G, Do not flash the i9100 roms and same of the opposite)
successfully installed
I've successfully installed using odin..just use the search button for the steps and procedure of installation.
Factory reset first .

[Q] HELP / ASSIST - Unble to reboot in CWM Recovery

Hi All,
I am having trouble with Galaxy S2. Months ago I rooted my phone, installed cwm and installed a ROM into it. Now they have released a new version of the ROM which I want to install it.
This is the ROM:
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-roms/resurrection-ics-rom-v2-0-for-galaxy-s2-i9100-best-ics-rom/
however, I am unable to boot into CWM Recovery.
If I do the POWER+VOLUP+HOME button its going directly to Android Recovery
I tried opening the CWM Manager, and I get this prompted:
"This version of CWM Manager should be used with CF-Root v5.0 or newer. It appears you are running a different kernel. Various features have been disabled"
I remember Flashing a Kernel to remove the Triangle Logo on the Loading Part.
So how can I flash the Kernel back? And install the newest updated ROM
Flash cf-root first it seems that you're not rooted.

Flashing the original kernel to remove the yellow triangle also takes you back to stock 3e recovery. You are still rooted though. Reflash the unsecure kernel through cwm manager or if that doesnt work, download ktool from google play and reflash from there.
This will give you CWM recovery without increasing binary flash counter. Reboot into recovery and do full wipe, before flashing new firmware.

flash the CF-root kernel using odin or siyah kernel(for me siyah is much smoother) and everything should be fine, also use triangle away to remove the triangle (u can get in google play for donation to the dev or on XDA for free)

ATT OTA tripped flash counter!?

Well, anybody or devs who can explain to me why the official OTA would trip flash counter for noob like me?
I did flash CWM 5.5.0.4 via ODIN that caused counter to become 1.
Then flashed Super User v0.87 (now updated v0.93) via CWM, and counter stayed at 1.
I did not get into download mode after that, nor flashed anything via CWM.
No custom Rom installed yet.
Installed insecure boot using Samsung Tool Kit V1.0 by Mksip (great tool):good:
Then OTA update this morning.
It downloaded fine, and after backing up Google search by TB, I tried to install.
I went into recovery automatically, and gave me "installation aborted. unverified signature"
So I went into download mode to check, and it shows flash counter now upto 3.
And shows as custom binary, and custom Rom.
I know I did not install any custom ROM yet, why does it think as custom rom and binary?
Is it because of insecure boot I installed?
Any light to this is so much appriciated for my learning for android.
Thanks in advance.
