I keep getting ads about free iphone 4 or ipad, any ideas how to get rid of it.

i'm going to guess its a rouge app. some developers are putting ads into apps now. i believe its called air push that they use, and yes it can be quite intrusive. look up airpush detector in the market and see if that helps
Downloaded it still getting them

You've downloaded an app that's causing it. Look at your running apps and that may help pinpoint what's causing it. You can try rebooting and then immediately checking what auto-starts - typically apps that display ads like that will auto-start.
You can download System Tuner free from the Market and open it up and go to Apps > Startups (at the top) and see what's being launched upon startup in there. Be safe and double check anything you disable and a backup never hurts...
It is "mp3 ringtone downloader".

You have to run AirPush Detector while the ad is open. It will let you know where it is coming from. Seems like 99% of the time, people are downloading that stupid "MP3 Music Download" (Its LOADED with fake reviews).
most people get it from some MP3 downloader app. do you have something like that?
I am getting them as well, and I don't have a MP3 music downloader on my phone. I don't want these ads, and I think it's bad that a warning is not given before we download an app that use this bloatware.
Ironically, bloat freezer causes this.

I found out that it was a theme that I downloaded from the market.
I also had this start happening when I installed Crackle. After I removed it, the ads went away.

No, it was a Galaxy S2 theme that I downloaded from the market...
The first thing my bro did with his phone is get mp3 app
AirPush Detector (free in the market might help you but it didn't help me). I found Addons Detector to help me. Install from market (free) then Click on "Addons" then find "push notifications" in the filter list then click on "submit". Hoefully it'll find your problem.
Good luck - hope this helps. That notification bar spam was maddening.
i found one from the ICS theme for golauncher. after i deleted the theme the ads went away.

I hope I am posting in the right place.
I keep getting this notification saying that I won one thing or another. It pops up in my notification so it is not a text message. If I click on the notification, it takes me to the ad site with no way to opt out of it.
I have ad free installed, but that does not help. I have Lookout installed as well and it doesn't help either.
How can I find out where it is coming from and get rid of it?
Is there an Adaware or Spybot or Android?
I have attached a screen shot of the notification I receive.
Thanks,
SBD
I got the exact same one today. Plus I get different ones all of the time.

It's an application called air push which came with an app you recently installed either uninstall the app or install AirPush Opt Out from the market and they will stop.
Edit: You can also get AirPush detector to see which app is doing it.

I downloaded AirPush detector and found the app that was using this type of advertising. It was a Trance Radio App. Will never download that again.
Thank you,
SBD
This AirPush crap is malware, plain and simple. This needs to stop. Don't forget to rate the app 1 star before you uninstall it and report it. This is unacceptable.

If you read the app description it clearly states that it has AirPush enabled and even shows you how to opt out. Cannot report an app because the downloader didn't read the description.

Okay I think i have some sort of malware on my phone. The other day, I had a strange advertisement in my notification bar...never seen anything like it before. I can't recall what the ad was for because I hit clear without thinking.
Now, the homepage on my phone keeps setting itself to start.infospace.com . I changed it once but now it's back. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
You have one of those apps that are associated with that type of advertising. I think you use airpush app to stop them, but then the apps no longer work.

Do a Wipe of Everything, and try Flashing a New Rom, or Restore a Old Backup! Then see if that Fixes the Problem?
Good Luck....
Theres an app that can find whats doing that but If you've just recently installed any new apps look through the reviews for them. You should be able to find which one is causing it pretty quickly that way

Airpush is the company that does that, didn't see your post here
I would definitely find the app doing it and report it as malware. There was also a thread somewhere in the general or android section that had a thread listing them so people could avoid/report them.
After taking the advice posted I checked my recent apps, reviews are pointing to an mp3 downloader. Must not have read enough of the reviews when I got it...

Ah thanks to the people who recommended Airpush detector. Apparently, it was the "Eastern Glow" live wallpaper I had downloaded. It uses the AirPush for notification bar advertising...not cool

probably and advertisement that came from an app you downloaded. I hate those..
Find the app that is doing it, rate it 1 star then uninstall and find a better similar app where the developers aren't douchebags.
Having same problem. How do i find the app thats responsible?
I wouldn't know.. if it only happened recently and you installed apps recently I would start with those..
Maybe read comments on the apps you downloaded, many people will complain about it.
All the big apps are likely safe to assume they're not the one doing it. It's usually smaller apps, less known games that do it to bring in more money.
EDIT:
Actually I take that back. There is an app to see which apps are pushing those annoying advertisements:

I had the same issue and downloaded Addons Detector. I scanned for Push Notifications...and nuked the app responsible.
Google really shouldn't allow such crap into the market though. It takes away from the integrity of the app market.
Tnx guys, it was Live 3D wallpaper...

Thanks for the tip on the app, downloaded it and found the app, It was a Battery Calibration app that had many people who had rated it as an air push app. What a pain in the ass those things are, they should be illegal. I have a rooted phone with adfree downloaded and it still came thru. Not any more, didn't need that damn app anyways.
Thanks again,
Vinny

Mine too!!!!!
My boss has a Rezound with the exact same ROM/kernel etc. that I have listed in my sig (because I set it up for him).
He has had a weird problem that he wants me to fix but I'm not sure what's causing it. Everyday lately, he has had a notification in the left side of the upper task bar that is just a + sign.
If you pull down the notifications it has a link to a porno site, but it doesn't go to his gmail and you can just clear it with no problem.
He says he has never gone to a site like that on his phone because "why bother, the screen it too small anyway" and that he has a both a 17.5" laptop and a 27" desktop monitor that are much better suited to that kind of thing.
I have worked on all his computers and all his phones and this problem ONLY happens on his phone. Does anybody know how to block whatever is doing this??
That has to be an app running in the background.

Yup, that was it right there.
He had installed an mp3 downloader because another coworker told him it was "awesome"
I hope somebody can give me some advice on this cos it's driving me potty, I keep getting notifications on my phone and they are in chinese (see screenshots), clearing them is no problem but I'd like to know if there's any way of blocking them, it's not a text or email, just a notification and a little picture of a star at the top of my screen, any suggestions welcomed thanks

The notification appears because you have installed an app with airpush advertisements in your phone.
Install this and do a scan on your phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5icm9zbWlrZS5haXJwdXNoZGV0ZWN0b3IiXQ..
Then uninstall the aplication that came out with the result and rate developer with 1 star on google play. (this usually gets the developer to react, if alot of 1 star ratings are received)

Try "addons detector". However that's not a generic ad so it may not detect anything. You just have to go through your recent installed apps and running processes to figure out which app is the culprit.

Have you installed any apps recently right before you started getting the chinese notifications? That would probably be the culprit. I would start uninstalling recent apps and that might solve your issue

when you get the notification Spam don't remove it yet:
Settings > under system tap on {} Developer options > check USB Debugging
connect the phone using a usb to your computer
open adb shell
Code:
adb shell dumpsys notification
copy the output and save it to a text file, post it here
i'll tell you which app is spaming.
I FIXED MINE!!
the KEY: notification monitor function in addons detector
leave it on and wait a day or so till you get the notification
I used to get bunch of Chinese ads
addon detector showed me exactly which program caused it
it was a hacked version of game I have downloaded... got rid of it and the ad was gone...
thanks guys
