Its going to be a cool ass phone but I do have to throw in that the SGS2 held up pretty nicely against it on YouTube. Only thing that the SGS2 didn't woop it on was the browser.....but it wasn't that much slower at all. I will say that it wasn't fair for the quadrant test though, as it is not optimized....but for noobs watching all they seen was the nexus fall on its face...it was sad really...they shouldn't have even ran it.

Pentile ruins it - the subpixel density is about the same as ours.
e.g. there's a reason it isn't HD AMOLED "Plus" - if it's not Plus, it's PenTile.

[Q] Nexus S or Samsung Vibrant?

Best buy is offering a Nexus S for free today with a 2-year upgrade, so should i switch? or wait for the Galaxy S2 to release in US?
EDIT: the deal is over, so its pointless to do a switch now. You can still comment below if you would like.
Im on hold with best buys customer service as i type this from my vibrant. If this is true, which it is....
Do itttt!!!!!! Straight support from google itself AND a small hike in RAM!!!
Im eligible as of last week for a new plan but was holding out for something exactly like this.
Everyone its legit. Jump on it now. Ill update thread after i speak to the reps at best buy. Its like xmas.

Damn nerds scooped em up before i got a chance.

Sounds like a good deal
But I'm also wondering if this is a good upgrade. Perhaps it would be an easier decision if GB update/non-update was more certain for vibrant.
No external SD card is a dealbreaker for me. Also issues with reception from what I've read.
I would wait for the next nexus,
coz I bought a 16GB micro-SD for my vibrant

You sure about that? Have you compared them next to each other? Vibrant is Super amoled screen, nexus s doesn't have that.

I thought the US version had a Super Amoled and the UK version had like SLCD, but I'm pretty sure both of them don't have gorilla glass either.

With the nice support from Samsung and T-Mobile I will definitely get a Nexus

Understand this.
The Nexus doesn't have Gorilla Glass http://phandroid.com/2010/12/20/warning-nexus-s-not-gorilla-glass-dont-be-that-guy/
It also depends on your location. The UK version doesn't have Super AMOLED it has SLCD. While the US version has Super AMOLED. (Just saying). Here's the difference http://mybroadband.co.za/news/gadgets/27333-nexus-s-super-clear-lcd-compared-to-super-amoled.html

Yeah I was tempted to get the Vivid for 0.68 seconds (but for me that is nearly an eternity) for to the screen. But, I was fresh off my Thrill to the i777, so I didn't want to be in another dev ghost town, plus I don't think I will see LTE for a long time.

i had it for a day, and as soon as our seed Skyrocket came in, i dumped the Vivid for that...then bought an SGSII i777 for myself...
Good luck finding a device with more Rev support then the sgs2. They are few and far between. Just think there's several variants and an international version. So no thanks stay away from htcs nonsense. Its craptastic.

HD Super AMOLED plus jk
In all honesty qHD displays look amazing especially the SAMOLED variety on the Droid RAZR, but most qHD displays are backlit like on the Vivid which I am not to crazy about. To answer your question though, I prefer SAMOLED+

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Super AMOLED Plus is a type of display technology, while qHD is simply a term for a certain size and resolution, regardless of what type the display is. Isn't is meaningless to compare them then?

Apparently, "HD" - yes... Although thanks to the upgraded RES/DPI, they had to downgrade from the Plus' "Real Stripe" RGB display back to Pentile.
The next generation phones, after the Galaxy Nexus will then have a true upgrade to Super AMOLED HD Plus which will maintain the high RES/DPI as well a have RGB support again.

I think we need a list of things that we can make factual comparisons.. you know, take the opinions out. you cant debate facts, they are what they are.
does the screen have banding - yes - fact
is the screen pixelated - yes - fact
s there a grainy look - I think this is an opinion
Whites look yellow - yes - Fact
We need more True/False things to use for comparisons

Because now it will be almost impossible to move to a smaller screen.

It's gonna be hard to go to the inevitable sgs3. I plan on keeping my note throughout though, as a Wi-Fi tablet/ in car media center
I don't even have mine yet and I agree. I played with it for 15 minutes or so yesterday, and now I can't wait to upgrade from my Infuse. And the size is so perfect. I know that the Note will only be able to be replaced by its successor when Samsung releases it. I hope they continue the series, as I will be a Note user for life if they continue it. Hell, I could even go for a slightly larger screen if they manage to figure out edge to edge displays that will fit in a similar sized package. Samsung has nailed the future of mobile devices with this one. Completely secured my loyalty to them through the Captivate, Infuse, and soon the Note. I can't get over how awesome of a device it is, even though I don't have one to call my own yet.

Spur of the moment...

I was having a problem with my Skyrocket and decided to exchange it for another one. While I'm at the AT&T store, I thought I would play around with the display model Galaxy Note...long story short, I upgraded my Skyrocket to a white Galaxy Note. (wife is not happy at all). Nonetheless, it's a great device. I will admit that upon initial impressions, I was not a fan of the Note.
To start, the phone is enormous, but once you get past it's caveman-ish dimentions, it's actually a great device. The screen on this phone is beautiful. It's 5.3" of HD SAMOLED+ lovin. In my opinion, this display is the best of both worlds...an Super AMOLED + display with high resolution. It's a pleasure to look at.
I'm getting used to the size of the phone, the more I handle it. I've been able to type one-handed with little difficulty, and typing is much easier on a 5.3" screen, because there's more room to type. For people with big hands, (like me), you know what I'm talking about. I will report back in a couple of days, with a more in depth review.

This is my SECOND 5" phone. Dell hasn't a clue how to market what they had.
I got my note (international) in December. Once you go with a 5" screen, kind of
hard to go back. I know I looked at the SG2, but even though it is a great device, that screen just looks TINY compared to what I am use to now.
