Carrier IQ spying on android phones - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Lately there have been articles about carriers spying on users using Carrier ID, a set of code imbedded in the android ROM. does anyone know if we have such a thing on the Atrix 4g? I did run a program found here for other phones and it did not detect CIQ.

There is already a thread on this with the answer you are trying to find.

found it but no real answer, it seems moto has not used CIQ but could be using their own method, I just want to know how far it goes...

[Q] I have looked and looked

I can't find any information on flashing samsung vibrant to cricket. I don't care about a full flash, voice and text is fine for my purposes. I don't care about data or android market or any of that.
I have seriously been NON STOP looking for last 2 days with no luck. I checked the cricket forums and I searched the forums here without any luck. I am an amateur I am not going to lie.
But I have a very good general background in technology and, I have already rooted the phone. I was trying to follow a guide I found but honestly I am not 100% sure that even does what I want it to. QPST samsung vibrant but when I do it I cannot simultaneously connect both the phone and run the software. If software is running first my computer won't recognize the phone as a modem and if the phone is connected first the software freezes and I can't even close it with task manager, I have to reboot comp.
Any help at all would be appreciated. I don't even know if this is the right forum for this question and I am sorry if I put it in the wrong place but this is vexing me.
Does cricket even use sim cards? If they are not a GSM carrier, it would make it impossible to use the vibrant on their network/service
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Cricket is cdma (sprint, Verizon, us cellular type radio, meaning no sim card) and the vibrant is gsm (meaning it uses a sim card).
The vibrant cannot and will not work with cricket.

Well question solved. Definately not the answer I wanted but that can't be helped.
Are there any nationwide carriers that use GSM available similar in price to cricket? I will be looking into this right after posting this question but I figure I might as well see if anyone knows any decent ones they can recommend. Basically, looking for cheapest possible with nationwide coverage.
I just need talk and text. Preferably no activation fee and no cost for sim but I know I am being overly optimistic with that lol. I also know that this forum isn't the place for that so any help is appreciated but I understand if no one has an idea.

[Q] Unlocked phone question

First of all, let me say that I'm not trying to break any laws here. I am simply curious about some technical aspects.
Q: What kind of tweaks would be involved to make a CDMA phone from one carrier work with another CMDA carrier? E.G., A droid running on Sprint or an EVO on Virgin Mobile.
I started researching about this, but I can hardly find any info. Are unlocked phones not that popular anymore or do carriers just not support them?
From what I gathered, one would have to change PRLs, install new phone, telephony, and mms APKs, and probably change MEID/ ESN and possibly flash new radios and have an unlocked phone of course.
How close am I here?
TY in advance.

Unlocked phones are very popular but CDMA phones are not when it comes to unlocking. Ultimately you have to get the company to agreebto add the phone to its network which it has the right to refuse lt. You would need to change the ESN which is not legal anywhere and why you won't find the info on XDA.

[Q] question U.S. sim version

Hey everyone, rare poster frequent lurker...
I seen a few people posting about reviews of the us models so I'm hopeing this is a question that maybe able to answered now?
Does anyone know if at&t and tmobile versions of the phone are one in the same? I mean i know they both use different frequencies for there 4G/LTE / + network but is Samsung installing radios/modems to cover both in the gsm model?
Here is my question in use.. I am interested in the tmobile s3, I have a work phone that is on at&t. I would like to run dual sim so I can just carry one phone or worst case swap sims as needed. Is this possible or would carrier specific models prevent me from accessing high speed internet?
I know its early yet but like I said I know there have been some hands on reports and a lot of talented people here that might know just from knowing the hardware Samsung used? If anyone can shed some light it would really help me out as I am doing my research now on which version suites me best. Thanks in advance!

Using a verizon fascinate in canada?

I have a Verizon samsung fascinate and I'm looking to use it in Canada. It's running AOKP milestone 5 and I'm currently on Pageplus (not using data).
According to wikipedia there are carriers that use cdma in canada most notably Telus and Bell mobility. Is there any other things I need to consider?
I have searched around and I've found that it may be possible to work but carriers such as telus may not be willing to activate it. Others have said US phones are software coded to a certain network's frequency or something of the sort. I'm not really sure about the technical language. There doesn't seem to be entirely definitive answers out there.
I'll be moving to Montreal this fall and many things seem to be more expensive up there. I'm thinking about just getting the Nexus directly from Google but I would like to consider my cheaper options first.

Verizon 4G Phones and Global Capability

Hey all,
I know the question of whether verizon 4g phones are able to be used on global networks has been asked before, but I'm interested in the how. How is it that carriers are able to lock phones into using carrier-specific SIMs? Say, for example, I want to take a locked phone overseas and use a foreign SIM in my phone...my understanding is that with most of Verizon's offerrings (and ones from other carriers for that matter) this isn't a possibility because they have locked the phone to only be able to use their specific SIM.
My question is: Does anyone know how this is implemented? Is it hardware? Because it seems that as long as 1. a phone has the right combination of metal-on-silicon, and 2. the software has the ability to access that hardware, this shouldn't be an issue - especially on phones with unlocked bootloaders. The ability to interrupt any carrier specific processes through changing the kernel and OS on the phone seems like it should be sufficient to "unlock" the device. However, it seems like this is not the case. Can anyone shed light on this?
Tom
