[Q] From CyanigenMod to MIUI - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody. Im coming from a DroidX and now i bought this piece of art, the Galaxy S2.
I have a question, if i install Cyanogenmod ROM and then i want to install a MIUI or another rom, do i need to use the Odin software for wipe al the content in my device or just flash like normal in clockwork?
My question for this is because in the DroidX if i want to change the ROM from froyo to gingerbread in a custom rom, i need to SBF.
Thanks in advance.

you can wipe in clockward recovery and install it no problem
just keep a nandroid back up incase something goes wrong

if you want to flash a CM7 based rom like miui or galnetmiui just do it as if you were upgrading from an older version o CM7, but if you want to flash a samsung stock based rom you have to use odin and then flash it

Thanks A loooot guys!!! YOU ROOOKS!

You need to wipe using the custom recovery and then install the zip from the recovery to .

Back to GB from ICS [questions] i9100 VAU version

Hey guys.
I have litening rom v2.1 ICS on my GS2. I have been having several issues with it. Such as super battery drain when connecting to 3g. I have tried ununstalling some apps but the drain seems randomised. I have installed better battery stats but it doesn't really find anything of interest. I am getting the old ANDROID OS drain. Although i do really like ICS, If i want to go back to the old GB nandroid backup what steps need to be taken.
1. From what i have read is flash a stock rom first. Does this rom need to be a 3 file rom or can i use the vodafone stock rom which is all of the 3 combined into one file "GT-I9100T_VAU_I9100TDUKF4_I9100TDUKF4_I9100TVAUKF4" is the stock rom i have on file. If i need a 3 file can someone link me up a stock 3 file gb rom? Do i need to flash a GB bootloader first? Do i need to add a PIT file when flashing the stock rom?
2. Do i wipe the phone after installation or before. I heard it's back to wipe the phone before going ICS -> GB
3. After flashing stock i assume i need to cf-root the phone again then i can restore a nandroid backup is this correct?
Alternatively is anyone on a ICS rom that is stable? Which rom is it? Hows the process from litening to a different rom? Just a wipe then flash? Thanks guys.

[Q] N00b question.

Hello Everyone.
I got a n00b question and sorry for my lack of knowledge in the first place, well then :
I got a S3 GT-19300 with android 4.0.4 and firmware 19300XXLFB. (already rooted, flashed and installed a custom rom and kernel)
So, I want to install a new rom based on 4.1.1 JB and I9300XXDLJ4 firmware. My questions are: It is posible to install it with a rom manager? Can you update from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 doing that?
Thanks in advance.
you don't need an app for it if that's what you're asking.
you can do it all in recovery. the only thing you can't do is to rename the backup when you're there. (you can do it later.)
just don't forget to wipe before you flash a different version jump.
tnx man i'll try it
np.
just go into recovery with your preferred method (you can use CWM to do it or you can shut it off and use the button combo to start it into recovery. both will take you to the same exact place. then all you have to do is to go in and backup, wipe, flash, restart)

[Q] Rooted SGS2, still on Gingerbread: is CWM recovery OK?

hi,
I have a Galaxy S2 which I rooted very early on without flashing a custom recovery. At that time one just had to flash one specific thing via Odin and it was done.
So the thing is still running Gingerbread. Now I finally want to get a nice custom ROM on it. But I want to make sure that the current CWM recovery is still "compatible" to my old 2.3.3 Android (2.6.35.7-I9100XWKG1 kernel) - like, can I install the current CWM regardless of the fact that my Android is very old?
(I faintly remember having seen something about a CWM for ICS and another one for Jellybean, which is why I'm asking.)
Search the general i9100 forum on how to flash a custom ROM.
Start at the "guide index" thread and work your way from there.

Thank you for the hint, however, I already studied how to flash a custom ROM in the CM10.1 thread and how to install CWM from the CWM thread.
My specific question was different:
This is the CWM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693
In here they offer a version to download for JB (6.0.2.7) and a version for ICS (5.5.0.4). To me, this implies that I can't just install any CWM version with my Gingerbread. Is this true, and what version do I have to install, then?
Flash the latest stock rom with Odin. After that flash the recovery for JB. Then you should be fine.
