I have looked around and searched but cannot find anything about speeding up the transition from potrait to landscape mode. Is there such a way?
If running eclipse there is a setting in eclipse parts under animations etc.

Just for screen rotation? Not on mine, 1.2 though.
U change the speed of all animations and it makes the rotation faster
I just switched back to an eclipse nand backup and played with the animations and found that even if I play with the animation speed it didnt speed up the transition from portrait to landscape that I could notice so I switched them off and now going from portrait to landscape is basically instant.

Yeah u can turn off all animation from phone display settings.
I was going to recommend that next. I thought u liked the animation and just wanted to speed then up a bit.
I think it also helps a bit (a little) with battery life by turning off animation.
I know the cpu doesn't spike as long or as high during screen rotation/animation since when I open setcpu and rotate screen with animation on u see it jump to 1000 for a couple seconds and I didn't see it do that when animation off...prolly wont see a big difference but its subtle....

Yeah it did speed it up but I went back to liberty. I love eclipse but damn if for some reason liberty gets my tethering speed up. I dont have a clue why. I am running the same mods. I can't wait for the new roms to start rolling in
i don't understand why would you want it to be faster
i regularly use my phone on the couch and if it rotates everytime i move. it would drive me nuts

I had the transitions on and use it in landscape often for typing. Hate how long it took to change between portraite and landscape. Transitions off almost instant. Thanks again ash for the tip.

Most of you guys know about which apps are great but some never share.
So I'm hoping you will share some of those apps you like/love with us and those that visit the site. If you do please write them down and explain what they do and why you like them.
- SMART ROTATOR – Lets you rotate individual apps instead of everything. Some people claim the auto rotate wastes battery life so I’m giving this a shot and I like it. Even if it doesn’t save battery life.
- SETCPU for root users. If you want better battery life set it to max and min to 760. DOES make a difference and speed still OK. Want to see the atrix move even faster? Set max and min to 1000! REALLY NICE.
- DROIDLIGHT LED FLASHLIGHT. I like this one cause you click on the icon and it turns the flashlight on right away. There are others but I like this one better so far. BUT, I have not tried ALL of them yet
- KEYBOARD FROM ANDROID 2.3 (GINGER BREAD KETBOARD). Play with the setting till you get how you like it. Really nice.
- MYLOCK UTILITIES – Lets you set the screen unlock so all you have to do is press the power button and you’re in! No need to SLIDE the buggy screen unlock.
- BRIGHTNESS LEVEL (DONATE). I like this app so much I bought the donate version. It’s simple and fast. Let’s you adjust the brightness of the screen.
- TOTAL SCREEN CONTROL – MUST have app if you use your phone at night in bed. The default “0” setting is way to bright! So I use this to FILTER the screen and works and looks great! Saves battery and your eyes.

last I read setCPU didn't work yet for the atrix due to differences in the atrix's kernel and the xoom. I could be wrong though
Yes, setCPU doesn't seem to work or work well on the Atrix. every time I restart the phone, it will give an error stating that setCPU have failed to start or something like that. I hope they fix it soon so I can OC the phone lol
keyboard from Gingerbread is amazing! Love it; it's so much more accurate than the stock Atrix keyboard and also more responsive.
I'm new to the android world, I need more apps to fill this phone up
circle battery widget
shows battery life in 1% increments rather than 10%
also, you can put it on the home screen so you can quickly check battery life without needing to click on anything
SETCPU work for me. CANNOT OC but it keeps it at 1000 which is very noticeable in speeds. Its also works to UNDER clock as well. You just have to enable profiles than create your own at the speed you want.
Hmm I wonder why setcpu won't work for me then. I've reinstalled it too.
I'll try the circle batt widget. Hopefully it'll work on mine lol

i've noticed that the SGA has no animation when waking up. When you press the power/home button, the back/menu buttons light up but the screen takes about 1 second longer to turn on, but without any fading in/out animation.
Is there a way to fix this or making a screen on animation? CM7 settings don't help either and this is bugging me because it makes the SGA seem like a slower phone.
Like it or not, SGA is a slower phone.
i know but i dont like how the screen wake is instant rather than a fade effect like other phones.
My old LG Optimus One had a smoother wake effect.

thanks, i tried the first one and the delay was noticeably shorter ^.^. but i reflashed ICS final (no tweaks) and its back to normal.
I am currently running rooted MJ7 (Verizon Galaxy S4) and have window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animation duration scale all turned off in developer options. I hoped that this would reduce screen and lock screen lag, however, I am getting pretty pissed about waking my phone and have to wait for 10-15 seconds for any touch response. This happens about once or twice an hour. It also occurs every so often once the screen unlocks and I will wait 10-15 seconds for anything but the wallpaper to load... I have hard reset multiple times hoping to clear the issue. I use zero widgets to avoid load time (however the hardware in this phone should be able to handle pretty damn much anything), and I manually clear cache and kill apps regularly....Nothing has helped... Any ideas or anyone else experiencing this?

Do you have lock screen effects turned off (light and water)? Turning those off really helped with the stutter I used to get when unlocking. It wasn't nearly as bad as what you're describing though... are you running any performance tweaks? Any 3rd party apps that change system behavior? I would freeze any non-stock apps and mods for a day and see if you still get it.

Haha, I actually feel quite noob at this point. Immediately after creating this post I went through my running applications in rom toolbox and noticed one little thing... There was a system cleanup tool running a total clean at every system lock, thus killing all running/background apps. The lag was simply the phone restarting the necessary applications... After eliminating this procedure I no longer experience the severity of lag. Whoops.

Hi all.
With every custom rom i flash on my htc one x i have this little but annoying problem: the notification dropdown animation is jerky. It doesen't happen in every situation. For example in settings screen it's very smooth, this issue is present especially on the home screen. Except for go launcer, on every other launcher the animation is very slow and laggy.
I post this here because i discovered that this "bug" is present also on other phones.
Have anyone found a solution?
It's annoyng and it makes the phone look slow and old
Another little thing: is there a way to disable the dim effect during notification pulldown? I think it can slow down the animation a little
Thank you very much

See if it doesn't help to either speed up the animations or turn them off.
Settings > Developer Options > Window Animation + Transition Animation + Animator Duration
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to help very much. Maybe disabling the dimming effect could speed it up a little, but i can't find anything about it.

Any other ideas? I tryed to download iNoty, and it's super smooth, but it makes the rest of the phone laggy (and it doesn't show all the notifications) LOL
I'm having this issue even on my galaxy nexus. Why is this issue present in an experience that is otherwise butter smooth?
I was totally happy with my G5, have it now since 4 weeks. Everything was perfect. But suddenly, out of nowhere, I have this weird micro stuttering (reduced smoothness) everywhere where I can scroll. In the app drawer (Nova launcher), in scroll lists like the app lists in the Play Store App, in the Settings menu, mostly everywhere, in Chrome too, in the notification bar when swiping it down. It doesn't happen always though but with a high chance. It's mostly hard to describe but I would say, that before it was always 60fps animations, and now it's not anymore. It's not totally broken (maybe 30-50fps), but not smooth. You can notice it really well when you scroll really slow with your finger up and down with a rhythmic interval and look at the screen animation how it stutters, it's no smooth animation like it used to be. It's especially worse in the settings gui when you slowly scroll down, the screen will stutter a few frames behind the animation time.
It's not rooted nor did I install any apps whats soever lately which could cause this. I even tried to remove some apps I have installed over the last days, with no effect. Tried to reboot of course too several times.
I am totally sure, that it was silky buttery smooth before this everywhere.

You can solve this by going to Setings/Developer Settings/ Tick "Force GPU Rendering"
My unrooted LG G4 is smooth because of this.
If U have root! Try L Speed / Trimmer fstrim / Entropy. try these 3 apps found on the Play Store.

Sadly that didn't change anything, I already had tried it before, because I knew that "trick". Also "Disable HW overlays" didn't change anything if toggled.
Well, its Android so you can always factory reset the device easily. You can also use LG backup to restore app data I think. Should be pretty painless assuming sync is enabled on your phone (google photos + account backup ..contacts calendar etc..).
Isn't your internal storage getting full?
