Personally, using version 5.0.2.0, I haven't seen any issues, but I've seen people post up that they have to revert back to version 4.
What issues were you seeing in the custom recovery? Did it not boot? It booted but gave errors when loading .zip files? What errors?
The more information you're able to provide the better we can help troubleshoot!
Hope that helps!

Yea I think he is using a version 4. It wouldn't boot at all it would just seen to skip recovery even when holding power and volume combination from boot. That's it it just wouldn't recognize it. Its a cdma on sprint. Not sure of the hboot version. Will post it maybe later today.

Just have him flash TWRP using this method:
http://androidforums.com/evo-3d-all...lash-recovery-image-via-fastboot-sd-card.html
or have him put the TWRP recovery on his SD card and get Flashimage gui from the market and he can flash it that way.
This video shows you how to flash roms with custom kernels:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDAqJ1nwLps
Make sure you have clockwork 4.0.1.4 otherwise it wont work.

Which hboot did you flash? Have you flashed the latest (2.89.651.2) firmware? Did you use 4EXT recovery and "format all partitions except SD card"?

have you searched? can you read? am i overreacting? there are many guides.... ;(
Ramjet, I flashed hboot 1.50 and I'm using 4 ext recovery. Now about the firmware, do I need to flash the latest? The crazy thing is, I had lens jb rom and working great. But the Google voice was getting on my nerves. So I thought it was the rom. I flashed back to SOS M thinking I can get rid of goggle voice and still there. Well long story short, I disable Google voice and now when I try to flash back lens jb rom, it stays on boot loop.

It would be a good idea to update to the current firmware (from the 2.89.651.2 build) if you haven't already, but I doubt that's your problem. Make sure to do a "format all partitions except SD card" in 4EXT right before flashing the JB ROM. Do not do a superwipe script as the latest AOSP ROM's don't seem to like that.

Couple issues

Hey people. I'm having a hard time flashing roms on my 4GLTE. Ill wipe, factory reset and wipe the cache but when I install the Rom it doesn't do anything. I've only been able to flash 2 roms the stock with goodies rom and the viper rom. And ideas on what's going on or help? Thanks

Follow the tutorials under General and start with posting details such as current specs, SON, SOFF, Hboot etc., then which ROMs you have tried and steps you have done to attempt installing them.
The more details you give the more XDA can help.
Please give us some more information. Are you s-off? Are you on the most recent firmware? Have you updated your touch panel driver? What do you mean by "nothing happens"? Are you getting boot loops or is the phone not booting at all or is the touch panel unresponsive?

Sorry I'm on S-On I do have the latest hboot. I've pretty much tried every updated Rom in the forum. It will either 1, stay on the HTC screen, 2 it will boot loop or 3 ill just have a black screen where ill have to restart back into recovery and go back to my previous backup. I have the Viper Rom right now. I can try to attach a screen shot of the roms I've downloaded and all of them gave me 1 of those 3 problems except viper and the stock with goodies Rom

Being that you are s-on you have to flash the kernel/boot.img first use flash image gui from the playstore or fastboot flash the kernel.
I suggest getting s-off it will save you so many headaches

Some ROMs (like Viper and MeanBean) include a kernel installer for S-on. For those that don't you'll need to follow bigdaddy's advice above.

You can use an app called Flash Image GUI from the Play Store to flash the kernel, assuming you can get your phone to boot into your current ROM. What specific problem are you having flashing the kernel with fastboot?
Your other solution is to get S-off, which is preferable

Like I said before... You NEED to downgrade in order to use any AOSP ROM's. Not sure how many more times you're going to make these posts. Lmao.
READ THIS! YOU NEED TO DOWNGRADE TO USE AOSP! DOWNGRADING IS A PROCESS TO GAINING S-OFF! SO JUST S-OFF!
Fastboot works just fine. Just need to know how to use it.

You NEED to S-OFF.
Please listen to delakit. As long as you have the 3.16 TP you will ONLY be able to use 3.16 based sense ROMs. NO OTHERS. You HAVE to downgrade your touch panel, which can only be done if S-off.
(Side note, this is what makes me not wanna wait for HTC One price to drop. You end up with updated FW/SW that is always more difficult to S-off, if supported AT ALL).

[Q] HELP! HTC evo 4g lte won't boot

So I recently rooted my phone and I tried to install the CM 10.1 mod. I did everything correctly except I didn't backup my original rom. So now the custom rom won't boot up because it gets stuck at the HTC startup screen and stays there. I went back into the twrp and tried to re-install the custom rom and again it didn't work. Now I went back and all my files are gone including the custom rom! So basically I think that the phone is booting because there is nothing on there. I tried to change the recovery image back to the original htc rom according to htcevohacks.com and i tried doing a factory reset but it didn't work. is it possible to fix this if so how? Thanks.

If you can get into twrp you can mount usb storage and put the Rom zip back on and the reason it won't boot is because you are s-on you need to fastboot flash the boot.img first

ok so as you guys said I can put the rom back on and install it and I have tried it. I got the initial set up of the new rom but the touchscreen doesn't work. I tried 2 other roms too and the touchscreen doesn't work on all of them. Do i just have to keep trying out roms? If you guys could post any roms that you have tried before that'd be great. I just want my phone to run something right now.
Try running a ROM based on the 3.16 OTA such as ViperROM or MeanBean. What version of TWRP are you on?
Also note if you use either of the ROM's listed above, they have S-on kernel installers. Just follow the installation instructions.

Give it a shot. The 3.16 OTA included a touch panel driver update. If you have the updated driver you can only run 3.16 base ROM's and also must use TWRP 2.4+, otherwise, your touch panel won't work. If you gain S-off you can downgrade the driver and run whatever ROM you want.
Once S-off you don't have to fool with flashing the kernel separately, either

So according to the MeanBean developer the kernel installer is built in, so all i have to do is flash the .zip file and it will take care of everything correct?

I think, if I recall correctly, you have to flash the ROM zip twice. After you flash the first time, you will be prompted to flash it again.

Do you know how to get a recovery log? Depending on your recovery you should find an option to copy recovery log to sdcard. Normally it is under developer options or extra.
Boot into recovery flash a sense gingerbread ROM (meanrom 4.5 would be a good choice) after flashing copy log to sdcard. If you are using 4ext (recomended) the log will be in the 4ext folder cwm and twrp put them in the root directory. Once you have a log attach it to your post.
Also if you are using 4ext make sure you use the s-on smart flash option.

I just tried flashing with several different roms and copied a fresh log
Okay looked over the log. None of the files you tried flashing will work that way. The pg86img is a to be flashed in the bootloader same with the twrp.zip. Your superwipes are not designed for this phone one is for the amaze the other is for the jewel aka evo LTE. Flashing those could brick your phone!!
Now on another note your firmware is too old to run ics/jb aosp roms and sense ics roms most sense ics roms need hboot 1.58.
Try this... download meanrom 4.5 and enable smart flash. Then install the ROM and report back.

You can. I would only suggest upgrading your firmware. Stick with the hboot you have. I will give you a link to the firmware in a bit. With updated firmware you can run ics/jb aosp roms such as cm10.1 or pacman.
