I have installed Better Battery Stats and I see that EMAIL_SERVICE is causing a lot of partial wakelocks (I have 2 exchange accounts). Furthermore I see that "Android System" is using a lot of CPU (there are two in my battery stats, one that shows services as create video, usb settings, license stuf, self test mode, etc. and one that only shows "total cpu". The last one is using CPU, but I can't figure out what is actually causing this).
When I disable network access (so no wireless sync), the phone lasts 3 or 4 days on battery, but when enabled, the phone burns 10% of the battery per hour, even when it is not used (screen on)...
Anyone else who has this problem, and even better, anyone a fix for this?
I am currently on stock XWKF3/XXKE7/XENKE1 with hardcores Speedmod K1-T27. I also tried Darky's 2.3.4, but this has about the same battery drain...
Well my problem turned out to be the xda app. It was preventing my phone from sleeping.
Reinstalling seems to have fixed it for now.
I left my Note overnight to test the battery drain and lost 40%. I used CPU spy to see what was happening and the phone never really went into Deep Sleep. Android OS was the biggest battery drain.
What's the best way/app to see what is keeping my phone from going into deep sleep? I am not rooted.
Please try a search you will get lots of good answers.

And get Better Battery Stats to find out what is triggering you out of sleep if the above thread does not help.

I don't need to be told to do a search. That's the first thing I do before I post a thread. The subject of that particular thread didn't seem to apply.
factory reset should take care of andriod os eating battery more then screen.dont install any app for few hours.only install cpu spy.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'd rather not have to do a factory reset every time a rogue app is draining my battery. Reinstalling everything all over again is a pain (not rooted, so Titanium backup is not an option) and that's like telling a user to reinstall Windows every time they see a little performance degredation.
I'm pretty sure there has to be a better way. I'll try betterbatterystats and see if it can help me narrow down the problem.
yeh i have an unrelated problem, will resetting device fixes it, but definately not a viable solution
but on topic in better battery stats look under 'partial wake locks',and see what programs are listed first (and the time spent on the apps)
that should normally tell you whats making the phone not got to sleep
u not gone find anything with battery stats.one of ur app is causing this issue.
u can give battery stats a try.when u.have a virus in windows, dont have have to do full recovery instead buying a virus program and trying to fix it.
greyhulk please try that solution Jpeg42 linked to.
Thursday I was down to 30% when I left work(10 hours). Friday I turned on the screen before unplugging and I was at 25% with 2 hours of screen on time and 21 hours since I unplugged.
Unplugging the phone with the screen off seems to prevent deep sleep. Give it a try.
If all else fails, it might be the battery itself. Hardware issue.
-On another NOTE, Samsung goes 5.3"

Your post is virtually incoherent, however, I will say you seem to be saying BetterBatteryStats won't help, and it most certainly will. What there is no need for is a factory reset, that's like nuking a planet to kill a flea.

Yeah, reading the thread over, that's exactly what I did last night: Took it off the charger with the screen off. I skipped over that thread originally because the title lead me to believe that it had to do with battery drain while plugged in.
I'll give it another test tonight and see if that makes a difference.
I just wanted to post my experiences with deep sleep.
I was getting some pretty bad drain, and I couldn't figure out why. Thanks to the search engine and running into this thread, I tried what you all tried here.
I am running Launcher Pro, and I wasn't going to deep sleep at all. Did the trick posted, even rebooted without it plugged in and it still wasn't sleeping at all.
I cleared the defaults and went back to the default launcher. It went to deep sleep just fine. I cleared the defaults again, then set the launcher back to launcher pro. It is now deep sleeping with the launcher pro as the default.
I then put the phone on the charger, woke it up, unlocked it and unplugged it. Its still deep sleeping. Really weird how it acted, and I figured for everyone else's sake in case they run into that issue again, it could be your launcher that is causing the issue.
A reboot with the phone, after the launcher switch, as the launcher pro as the default, resulted in no deep sleep. Launching the stock launcher while LauncherPro is still the default launcher resulted in no deep sleep.
After a reboot, with no default launcher, launching the stock launcher resulted in, it does not deep sleep.
After a reboot with no default launcher, launching LauncherPro, no deep sleep.
Some really goofy stuff going on...
I am using the overclock kernel but I am not overclocking. I installed it to lower the cpu to 192mhz instead of 384mhz.
I noticed that my phone (Lenovo P700i) barely goes into deep sleep. At the minimum, it always runs at 250 mhz.
Is this considered a deep sleep problem even though BetterBatteryStats shows that there don't seem to be any significant wakelocks?
there's two build props that will make your device enter sleep instanly...If you understand how to edit them..you may want to search for deep sleep build prop tweaks..hope this helps..
Does this app can fix the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030696 ?
Hi guys,
Is anyone having battery drain issues with their new sgs3's?
With my one it wouldn't last 12 hours without dying. Also if its at 100% it'll drop to 70% overnight while i sleep (6-7 hours) and thats with power saver on, sync off and running juicedefender.
Today I factory reset the phone and only installed flash, whatsapp and dolphin browser. Have wifi on, sync, data, gps and bluetooth off. Havent got pictures of battery stats yet since I only reset it half an hour ago.
So is anyone else experiencing battery drain? if so have you fixed it? and how?
Are there any apps I should be aware of that drain the battery?
I would remove juice defender.
Uninstall lightflow app if you are using it.
Use betterbstterystats to identify any wakelocks. The xda thread of the same name will be able to help with solutions.
Other than that follow general tips on increasing battery life that are found all over xda.
This device is easily capable of much better battery life than you are getting.
Good luck.

No issues at all so far, in my case. In fact this is the first Android phone I've owned that has no battery-related issues
Based on my previous experience what you can try doing is (a) install CPU Spy to see if your phone is entering 'deep sleep' appropriately (b) install BetterBatteryStats to identify offending applications.
Even the 'Battery' section in settings is useful -- just check if any apps are keeping the phone awake for longer than you've actually used them ('Stay Awake' number).
ok well ive installed bad ass battery monitor since its free. Also since I did factory restore i charged it to full and in 1 hour 44 mins it used 7% on idle. Going to charge it to full again and use it normally to see how it is.
Only apps ive installed is XDA, badd ass battery, dolphin browser and whatsapp.
maybe you have samsung widgets etc set to refresh every hour or shorter. Or could be Whatapp

That's after the factory reset. Before I had a more stuff installed.
Right now it's been about 3.5 hours and I'm at 74% with light use.

That's definitely not right. Perhaps you have a dodgy battery? Can you find an app that measures the batteries mha. I use battery monitor pro. I will post a screenshot for comparison.

Don't be concerned by this. It appears to be normal behavior on this phone.

Just woke up and about to start work (Australia time). Ive taken a bunch of screenshots from stock battery monitor and from bad ass battery monitor. Will post up when I get home.
Also I installed battery monitor pro but it wont let me select 2100mAh. when I put it 2100mAh and press ok it just goes back to 1500mAh. Battery is currently at 36%.

Make a search for BetterBatteryStats in xda, install, learn how to use it and identify the cause of the drain

Just a guess bit that might indicate that your unit has been shipped with a dodgy battery. I would get it tested and replaced.

Not too happy with my battery either. Fully charged over night and its down to 89% 1hr 30 later. Is that normal? However, you did mention lightflow earlier though which I have installed - Is that a massive battery drain? My battery stats seem to show display as being the big culprit but I have brightness set to it lowest setting.
Also, can't seem to find battery monitor pro on play?

It's wifi, don't use it in sleep mode. There's a bug with it right now that keeps it awake.

No, I have a data plan. But trust me wifi is the culprit. I have a topic on this in the general section.

I'm on Omega V4.0 and with wifi always on, fully charged 3 hours back and when i woke up it's 95% remaining. So about 1.66% loss per hour in sleep mode. With regular usage and installing and testing different roms and backing up etc them i easily get about 8~10 hours. Phone's made in Korea and battery mfg date is 2012.5.6.
Plus tons of widgets on home screens.
Lately I've been having major issues with my processor getting extremely hot. It only warms up when the screen is on. Normally I wouldn't care but it gets hot enough I can barely touch the screen (over 100° F) and results in major battery drain (battery drain doesn't bother me because in using it, but it still seems too high). Does anyone know a few tips or tricks to keep the temp down? Currently I'm running on AOKP and have the default kernel but I also experience the issue with siyah kernel as well. Thanks I will advance B-)

More likely than not you probably have some kind of rogue app running in the background, but without any more information, that's all I can tell you. Try installing BetterBatteryStats for wakelocks, or tell us what apps you have installed, or a screenshot of what's draining your battery.
Did u full wipe before installing the Rom? If not, there's no reason to post this issue until u have. If u already have, then as stated above,u need to find which app is causing the problem. Definitely not a Rom problem, just an fyi for others who may read this.

I also have been having problems with my cpu overheating. And my screen does not want to turn back on and phone reboots into safe mode. And will randomly turn on and off. Any one has any ideal what could be causing it, and is it bad for your phone to go into safe mode.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
No it's not bad for your phone to go into safe mode, but once again, please provide more details!
It's definitely not because I did not wipe... However I will check out better battery stats I didn't think it would be an app causing the over heating because as I said it only occurs when the screen is on. I was thinking it would be more kernel related (voltage levels or governor related). Thanks tho I'll report back with battery stats
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
I thought getting hot with AOKP was just par for the course, like the weird keyboard bug.
Mine gets pretty hot all the time, with normal use. I full wipe each update, most recently when installing the update on 7/3. I use Fluxxi kernel as is with no oc or voltage changes. Its hot while using wifi or data, and battery life seems normal.
Over the last 13 hours I have 3% time above 800 MHz, 35 seconds of wake lock for network location.

Hi all,
I am using ics standard firmware 6.1.A.2.45 with advanced stock kernel build 14 but it seems my phone is not deep sleeping, I lost about 20% battery over night, see screenshot attached, I had power saver mode on with everything switched off. Shouldn't phone idle % be higher?
Anyone have any suggestions please on how to fix this?
Thanks for any help.

Hey turn off internet connection if on or just check there might be apps that are running in the background.
Just go to Settings-->Apps-->Running
There u can see all the apps that are running and close all the unnecessary applications.
I hope this might work for you.
Theres no such problem wid my XPS.
5-8% drainage of battery overnight is normal.
My XPS ate about 3-5% battery in 7hrs last night.
Not a problem with mine.. Did a clean install, wiped everything and then did a hard reset.. Mine drains 1% mostly overnight, and rarely 2%..
Try a factory reset, or re-flash wiping everything..:good:
P.S : it's offline during those 6-7 hours
Some says that disabling "com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup" can help saving little bit of battery. I just frozen it and will see if there is any improvement. I have this issue too in my XS, it never enter sleep mode even with everything off (connectivity, screen, sync, etc). Markus on Sony forum said that they're working on it...
Brand New LT30p Tap-A-Talked
Just to make sure.
Use CPU spy app to check if your phone goes to. Deep sleep.
