I have an droid eris with a stock rom 2.1
i cannot sync my contacts through facebook for htc sense for my acoount only
if i use my friend's account the sync occurs
but if i use my account it gives a com.htc.bg force close error
i have tried almost every method
plzz help
xtrsense also not helping
i flashed xtrsense rom
tried to sync with logcat on
and what i noticed was an error
i have uploaded an image of the error
can someone tell me what is the error all about????
As I recall it, somebody reported an error message like that with FB syncing if you have contacts with apostrophes in the name, such as O'Brien. It was something like that. Perhaps it's if your name has an apostrophe?
I don't know if that helps, but that's one thing I recall.
Another idea is to flash a non-HTC custom ROM, (e.g., one of the Gingerbread ROMs), and use the official Facebook app to sync with contacts.

Okay so I'm using the 2.1 ROM, mainly for the use of bluetooth and I want to intergrate my facebook with my contacts to let me use their photos and birthday.
The problem is, when I sign in to Facebook via the contacts it intergrates ALL my facebook friends to my contacts! I end up with about 300 people in the list!
Are there any solutions to this, or is anyone else experiencing it?
Same problem. I did find a way to change it, but do not ask me what the chuffing heck I did to do that :S
i think the best way is to not sign in to facebook during the initial set up. once you are all set up, launch the facebook app that comes with 1.7, and select sync with existing contacts only.
seems to work ok.
So I got 2.1 installed and everything has been great so far. However I can't seem to sync with Facebook. It takes my credentials just fine and I can run the app. But when I try to link a Contact with their Facebook profile (to see their updates and sync their profile pic) it doesn't work. I get to the "select a profile" screen and it doesn't list any of my friends, even when I search.
Is anybody else either having this issue or able to sync successfully? And help would be greatly appreciated!

Some people weren't showing up in my contacts yesterday tho. But today it's fine and I was able to link all my contacts or show facebook contacts.
it took a bit for everything to sync over, but as of now I have no sync issues in 2.1 for facebook and or anything else. How long ago did you setup 2.1 with fb?
I setup my FB acct (and Google acct) as soon as I booted into 2.1 for the first time. I've tried removing the FB account, adding it back, rebooting in between, etc with no luck.
I have both "Facebook" and "Facebook for HTC Sense" enabled.
It takes my username/password fine, 'sync contacts' is checked, and it claims to sync just fine. When I tell it to manually sync, it 'runs' for about 2 seconds before saying sync complete.
When viewing a contact and sliding over to the updates 'tab', I try to link with their acct but my friends list never loads. Trying to search in it does nothing. Even when I try to view all updates in People, it shows nothing.
The Facebook app and Facebook Phonebook folder work great, but I really want to merge contacts again so it shows their FB pic automagically.
com.htc.bg has been force-closing alot. Could that have something to do with it?
I had the same issue I reinstalled the Rom then clicked the Facebook sync in setting let it sit for the night and it loaded all my friends. Search the forums this was answered in the other 2.1 leak forum.
I get an error when I try to sync my contacts with google sync. I had the problem on the original firmware, and it still persists after I rooted it (running rooted 024 atm). The error I get when I try to sync contacts are:
"The process android.process.acore as stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Anyone have a solution for me?
Did you remove timescape? or Im guessing something else within the settings that ya really shouldnt have?!

I've not removed timescape, and as I stated this is a problem I had before I rooted the phone also.

does anyone have problem with their google sync after update to 2.1??? It seems like my google account doesnt sync with my x10....
Did you disable autosych? Looks like background data is not enough for gmail anymore. There is a new check in settings.
just found the solution on this...it is not x10 problem. It is android 2.1 issue.
So, what is the solution, then?
This is really strange.
My data does sync, but somehow I get a "synchronization problem" for both google contacts & for my FB account (via the official fb for android).

Since so time ago I'm not being able to sync my contacts with my google account.
I'm using the CM9, allways last update.
It allways give me erro that sync is with problems, that it will be return another time.
is this CM9 problem or google problem? Any one know how to solve this?
all the other items sync without problems.

I was never able to sync browser neither on GB nor on ICS.
I used many many firmwares based on stock on GB/ICS and AOSP and AOKP on ICS but it never synced the browser. Always said that I should try again later.
when i try to make my S2 sync contacts from my google account, it allways give me a erro.
sorry, but when you are in contact, you go to Menu> Contacts to display?
I posted a similar question way back in 2010 in a thread for my old HTC Legend here.
3 years down the road and it seems there still doesn't exist a solution for that simple problem. So I want to try again:
Did anyone find a way to sync back facebook information to google contacts? If you get birthdays, email and phone numbers from facebook in your phone, it would be great to have that back in google contacts when using the desktop.
Even when properly linked, this kind of information is only in the phone and gets lost, when you loose a contact as facebook friend. When you flash a ROM or set up your phone new, installing Facebook with its sync will mess up your contacts again, creating duplicated for the same person, even if emails are the same and maintained manually in Google Contacts.
Is there really no other way? How do you guys handle that?
