Power button lag - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

My phone doesn't response until about 0.5 sec after I press the power button.
Is it normal for this lag to happen?

Yes 10 char

Is there a way to make my phone instant wake up after pressing the power button?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App

This thread will help explain some of that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370803
^^ That thread only applies if you are running entropy512's kernel or have your governor set to conservative.
But there is a slight delay that cannot be changed from waking the phone up. I believe it's 650ms. You'll have to check out entropy512's responses. He's covered it a few times.
If you're running straight stock, then .5 second delay is unusual.

Hey guys,
So I am having the same type of problem. The delay was happening on a completely stock phone (I just got it) after about a day of use. I just rooted it using the guide stickied to this forum (I am not sure if that kernel posted there is entropy's or not) and I got setCPU to overclock while the screen is off from 200 to 500 to see if that fixes it, but I didn't see any change. Any idea why?
Thanks

You all do know there is a lag because its waiting to see if you press the home button again to access that voice command stuff, right?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium

We are not talking about the home button lag, the problem is the power button lag to wake the phone up from sleep.

Time to resume from deep suspend is 650 msec, mostly due to waiting for the radio to wake up - so far there is no known method to change this.
It's the same for the I9100.

i'm running ics'd out v1 with siyahs kernel and I don't have this lag at all. you should try out this combo.

I just did a test and it takes an average of 1.35 seconds to wake from sleep.

Then your phone is never hitting deep sleep - let me guess, your idle drain is about 4-5%/hour?

wake up lag

So is there no way to get rid of the wake lag?
What's the wake up lag?
What rom are you using?
Yes there is, look into speedmod, are you rooted? And have you applied any lagfix?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
it really could be anything. ROM, kernel, lagfix, OV/UV
are you using SetCPU with a "Screen Off" profile? thats what does it for me.
It happens for me with every rom but right now im on Bionix-v 1.3.1 with OverStock v1.4 kernal.
And im not using a screen off profile..
what are you guys using?
btw thnak you for your help
by wake up lag I mean that once I hit the power button it takes the screen 2+ seconds to turn on from when its locked.
btw with the old dow1.4 i have no lag.. whats different about it?

+1 if somebody finds one.
Some people say by changing the cpu settings it fixes it.. But from what i have read is its going into deep sleep and takes 1sec to wake then 1sec to turn backlight on.. Maybe if somwone can change the backlight delay.. Probly the only real fix..
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
I saw it through logcat that it takes around 1 sec to set backlight brightness to intended level .

Will logcat point out which lines of which files to change that value? I do believe it can be fixed.

Set_backlight_brightness I think . I don't know

bump...........
I think thats because the phone is in deep sleep... When i have keeping minimum freq of cpu at 245 Mhz it was better and faster unlocking screen... But when Im at deep sleep while screen is locket it takes less than 1 sec to unlock it... When it was at 245 it was unlocked at the same moment when pushing the button... but now I have problem with the disabling falling at the deep sleep... must make a new topic at general...
Just played around with setcpu a little bit, and didn't see any differences with different governors and min frequencies, in my case even if it's running at 800 MHz it takes 2 seconds to get backlight on. I agree about the backlight brightness not being set to the right level because i can already see the clock after ~1 sec even though the display is still mostly black.
Has anybody tryed using the backlight settings from froyo..

i can try but i dont know how to set they ? maybe u know?
and BUMP this topic ! that playing on my nerves !
bump, anyone know how to use froyo backlight settings?
I was yesterday testing this problem on 3 different roms 2.2.1 and 2x 2.3.x and its true that froyo is unlocking in a part of second but ginger needs more than 1 second... I also tested because of this cpu speed while phone is locked... In case of charging there is no deep sleep under 122Mhz but if not phone is chargit it goes automaticaly under 122MHz into deep sleep so I think that problem is there... Even the reactions of phone after unlocking are very poor while all aps are waking up from sleep to... So if anybody can put these setings from froyo to ginger it will be great!!! Or if anybody can tell how to disable falling into deep sleep in stock ginger roms...

Lag as in delay between pressing a wake button and when screen finally lights up. Yes, you still have it.
hey guys i think slaid480 had same problem but when he flashed ddkq firmware.it fixed his problem try ddkq firmware.

Baseband relationship with lockscreen lag

As some people claim with different roms that they get no lockscreen lag with gingerbread and yet others who are on the same rom have lag. Is it dependent on the baseband possibly as that and the kernel are the only possible differences causing the lag. Or is the no lag lockscreen just an urban myth? Thanks

There's no lag. The phone turns on as soon as you push the button. Its the back light thats delayed.

screen delay on aokp rom

based on the aokp rom-->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574718
nobody seems to have a working solution for this problem...after clicking the power button, there is a 2-3 second delay for the screen to turn on..this started after flashing this rom.
i have tried:
1) removing widgets, live wallpaper, closing running apps, etc....
2) turn of crt animations
3) changed kernel to neak for aokp.
4) i flashed UCLE5 and the problem stopped but i dont want the stock.
nothing has worked. what else could be causing this?

It's all fine and dandy to say that it's deep sleep and that it's just how the phone works...I'd just like to know why it is that the HTC Inspire's screen comes on instantly with the button while its idle battery drain is twice as good as the S2. Clearly there's something wrong with the way Samsung is doing something.

Try Siyah kernel, it has "slide2wake"
Slide from left to right on your screen will wake it up without touching any button.
Or googy Max kernel has touch2wake, it allows you to wake up your screen by simply touch it

There is time out in touch wake in order to avoid unwanted wake because slide to wake is a more complicated gesture than touch to wake so slide to wake is not necessary to have a time out.
0 means never time out so will always keep touch to wake active, 5 seconds means ever since screen out within 5 second your can re-activate it.
Also, there are some apps that uses light sensor or acceleration sensors or proximity sensor to activate the screen, but personally feel these apps kill battery pretty fast...
