I was wondering if there is a way to upgrade to a Custom Rom (Let's say ICS2) from Froyo without using Kies/ODIN at all?
My main concern is if CWM5 is compatible with Froyo and if there is any stock GB Rom which is flashable via CWM? (Custom Roms do need GB as the base right?)
So guys, I would be thankful if anyone of you could help me with this!

Cwm5 doesn't work on Froyo... You will need Odin.
Me <--- Forever a Galaxy Ace newbie
I think you really need odin/kies and CWM is compatible with froyo
2 conflicting answers!
I guess atleast CWM4 was compatible with Froyo right? And is there any stock ROM which is flashable via cwm?
CWM4 is compatible with Froyo and GB
Ok thanks! now if only someone could direct me to a stock rom which is flashable via cwm! :/
There is no stock firmware flashable from CWM.

To make this clear :
-CWM5 is for Gingerbread.
-CWM4 is for Froyo and Gingerbread.
-No stock roms could be flashed via CWM. Only custom roms could be flashed via CWM. If you want to flash a stock rom, you could check out a sticky in the forums which teaches you how to flash stock roms via ODIN or KIES.
Press d 'THANKS' button if I helped.

People are using "doubt" wrongly ._.
There's no big difference, mainly just the different regions.

i guess what you trying to say is Kph is installed right now in ur phone ? and you asking can you flash custom rom with kpn on it ? if yes then your ans is yes you can flash it.it wont matter while flashing unless the dev has strictly stated it in installation ,.. other wise your are good to go.
Click thanks if i made it clear
Its always better to flash a particular rom on a recommanded firmware to avoid problems.

1. Yes, you can. You only have to change the modem with ODIN.
2. Yes. Check it in HTCMania forums.
Any opinions on a safe, easy sim unlock method? Root?
Hi everyone.
The thing is I want to go back to stock
But in sammobile there is ddkq5 not ddkq6 as Indian firmware.
Guys I want to know if ddkq6 is official Indian firmware or not.
And also do I have to use cfroot in cwm or in simple recovery.
And one more is cf root b83 I don't remember version which is Oc kernel is it stable and will work on stock.
Thanx.....
If I helped you In any means hit thanks button.....
1. Ddkq6 is definately indian fw. All new galaxy ace fones r shipped with ddkq6. I checked it myself.
2. Cf-root can b flashed in cwm.
3. B83 is still buggy. Fone can b oc'ed sucessfully, bt sum apps force closes. Wait till ketut solves d bugs or u can try it.
