[Q] Wallpaper problem TRIED EVERYTHING - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Themes and Apps

Want a scrollable wallpaper WITHOUT CROP with Launcher Pro:
MultiPicture Live Wallpaper: No option to scroll like default android. Different transitions are given which is not the thing is want.
Wallpapyrus: It's laggy when scrolling
Wallpaper Wizardii: The top part of the screen is BLANK when using scrolling.
Wallpaper Slideshow: I dont even remember what's wrong with this but something is wrong.
Wallpaper for Tablets: No option to scroll like default android.
Tablet Wallpapers (by Mobile Spy): Doesnt work. Tried to set a picture and it zoomed out.
gtabwallpaper: Nope.
Wallpaper Maker: Anyone got this to work? Saw some comments saying it worked for galaxy tab 10.1 (what i'm using).
I have tried all kinds of resolutions from wide to the honeycomb etc. etc. ALL OF THEM WILL BE ZOOMED OUT AND BECOMES BLURRY.

I am wallpapyrus developer. Which mode are you using? I suppose it is chain mode. If that is the case, wallpaper will lag while scrolling if number of screens is more than 4 on phone and for tabs I am not sure. This happens because android memory is limited.
You can reply with more details.

**** all those apps. This is the only thing I've found that works.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ridgelineapps.wallpaper
Download it, get a 1920x1200 wallpaper high-quality, and select the live wallpaper, and choose "Image File" as the type of wallpaper, and voila. Profit. Thank me later.

Thanks for all the help and replies. Still waiting for a solution.
@vineetksirohi: i'm sorry i dont remember which mode i was using as i uninstalled it. But the scrolling icons seemed a bit laggy compared to the other apps i've tried.
@oxeneers: thanks but the wallpaper doesnt scroll like the default android wallpaper would. I have the scroll option ON in my launcher pro.

Not sure if it will work for you but I have 3D gallery installed and it gives me the option to set wallpaper after long press home screen, press wallpaper and you will see the 3d gallery icon, lets you crop and is scrollable, for me it works with stock launcher, zeam and launcher pro 3D gallery is in market.
---------- Post added at 03:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:27 PM ----------
Oh and in the crop, you can crop the whole picture, no landscape portrait like stock. The crop box wil fit the picture to the whole screen in landscape and then when you switch to portrait it just centers the image and with most pics still lools fine

36 results for "3D Gallery in the market" i cant seem to find the right one.
Can u give me a link or developers name at least?
Thanks in advance. waiting to try it out.

I just checked and its gone. It seens to drop in and out. How can I send it to you? I have the apk, it is a free app as well

u can send it to my mail. check ur pm.

Just had a quick look and found it here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019667

Ok so i have downloaded the gallery u've told me about, which happens to be the stock gallery of 2.3.3.
I failed to install it. It says "Application not installed".

no one has the answer?

Well it isn't the stock gallery. And if you read the post properly it says to flash it in cwm. If you have no recovery I will send you the apk that I have. That you can install like normal.
---------- Post added at 10:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 PM ----------
Not stock for the tab 10.1 anyway.
---------- Post added at 10:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:36 PM ----------
I just sent the apk to the email you gave me. Better to just use that. Get back to me and let me know if it works.

Can you give wallpapyrus another try?

I think he's gone lol

No, i'm actually still eagerly waiting for a solution for this problem. I've googled here and there, no one seems to have any solution for this.
I intend to take 4 pictures of different sizes and post their behavior on different apps and launchers that i've tried on so that it's easier for someone come up with a proper solution, but i've been too buzy (NOT LAZY).
@vineetksirohi
Sir, i've followed exactly what you've asked but unfortunately it still didnt work.
The wallpaper didnt scroll like the default android.
The calender on home screen 3 lagged when it was scrolled, i think it would be the same with other widgets/icons as well while scrolling through home screens.
I appreciate all the help from everyone, you guys even took the trouble to email me. Solution or not, the help and service is certainly greatly appreciated.

For some strange reason I am now having the same problem, even though it has been fine for weeks :-S

i am using the stock launcher and was having the same problem, but then i found another to set a wallpaper
Click the original picture and open in the browser
long press and click set wallpaper
It doesn't crop, and (at least the pic I set) doesn't zoom or blur

Have you tried another Launcher? ADW Launcher EX is working awesome and you can choose the size of the desktop icons and how many show up on the screen.

ADW is my preferred launcher as well, even lets you backup your settings/desktop which is very nice. Search for "wallpaper" in the Nook Color forums to find fixes for that--QuickPic or whatever it's called helped me a lot and made the whole process much smoother. Also, opt for .png files (convert them if you have to) as they scale better. Make sure to format the backgrounds to the appropriate resolution.
Also maybe check your build.prop and see if your LCD Density is off. Have you altered it?
Your abrasive approach to the problem lightened my day
Something must be off on your NC, because I am using Zeam and Fancy Pro ... and it looks phenomenal.
I would uninstall and reinstall both, reboot and see what you get.
Could you post a pic perhaps? Hold down the "n" button and quickly press "-" (minus key for Volume).

Wallpaper Set & Save in the market will help with some image quality problems. Not sure what problems you've had with JPG images, you mention scaling, so maybe that's why I haven't had any problems since all the JPGs I use look phenomenal, but are sized correctly at 1200x1024.
I have the Zeam launcher and it works like a charm. I used pretty much all the launchers and finally settled down on Zeam because it lets me do the most customization (especially the dock). Combined with Super Keys and Apps Organizer, it gives the best flexibility IMHO.
Try using the stock launcher to set the wall paper & then switch back to Zeam. That works for me. Zeam seems to zoom the wallpaper too much.
Cheers,
kev
Finally got this working with high rez backgrounds
I also was having nothing but problems with this, no matter what I tried I would always get blurred/zoomed in backgrounds. Finally, I found the application QuickPic by alensw.com which did the trick (search for QuickPic in the marketplace).
Use it to navigate to the image you want to use as a background, tap the down arrow in the upper right (tap the screen if it doesn't show), and select the option "Set As" and the next menu select "QuickPic Wallpaper" and then adjust the box to fit what you desire and press the "save" icon on the upper right. This will take a moment, and when its done you can exit the application and enjoy your high res background.
VTL launcher

its based on adw but its made more for tablets! try it
I use Zeam and QuickPic and Wallpaper Changer but what made my wallpapers look right was resizing to 750h x 1024w. Now they look good no matter how I set them. I don't know about the widgets though.
Crop wallpapers from the market did the trick for me. I'll post my settings for it when I get to work:

hey I read this yesterday and forgot to post. I recommend using ADW EX and download free from the market an app called WallpaperCASA. I had the same nasty gradient blocky problem you did for wallpapers and everything. ADW EX actually does some things for mdpi devices to make them look like nicer HDPI devices. give it a try
Zeam actually did the best job making my wallpapers look good. You need to check the "manage wallpaper internally" option under settings. The image still gets cropped a little but it is significantly better than any of the other launchers mentioned. ADW, VTL and LPP made the papers look terrible in landscape mode. Not sure how it compares to some of the market apps others have suggested.

[Q] Screen resolution issue

So I just got my G Tab yesterday. I've rooted it and slammed on Vegan. I'm really impressed with this thing. The one issue I seem to be having is that I download wallpapers (1024x600) but they never show up properly on it. They are always cropped. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, is there a way to verify that my screens resolution is correct? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Happy new G Tab guy
Yeah, that happens to me too. It seems the wallpapers only show the full art in portrait mode.
The only way I have seen to recify that issue is to download MultiWallpaper Live from the market. Set the single picture that you want was your wallpaper as the default wallpaper and it will fit to the screen as you would expect it to.
I still haven't figured out how to correctly display wallpaper without the use of this program on my GTab.

The correct app for this is MultiPicture Live Wallpaper, which is free. https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture
After you install MultiPicture Live, it will appear as an option within "Live wallpapers".

You may have to try the market fix (go down to Part Three). However in my experience you will lose access to the device on the 'Web Market' (your device will disappear, never to be seen again). I have not figured out how to fix that, so be warned before trying it.
When I check the 'market', there's a list of apps I look for specifically (Not because I use all of them, but they seem to cover most of the filters). Some of them I've noticed are only available BEFORE the fix, and some (most) only available AFTER:
Adobe Flash/Air*
Mozilla Firefox*
Dolphin HD
Google Apps (Maps, Voice, Youtube, Voice Search, Gmail)
Launcher Pro
ADW Launcher (probably same filter as LP)
Titanium Backup
Yahoo! Messenger Plugin (Voice & Video)
Smart Keyboard
*means they are only available BEFORE the fix, they disappear from the market afterwards, so if you want them, be sure to download them first (may be others).
Of course, these are only the ones I know about, YMMV.
EDIT: If you still have trouble finding it and have another Android device (like a phone), you can download it there first, then back it up (eg. with Astro or TB), then sideload it onto the tablet (copy it over using preferred method, such as USB or Dropbox, then open it with a file manager on the tablet).
multipicture
I have tried puting different backround pics on each screen which works fine until I reboot and then I get a "picture not available" message on all the screens. I have tried several times with the same result.
I am a newbie - what the heck am I doing wrong!
Agree on the 1024x1024. However, if you can't find background in that resolution or no photoshop skill to make it so, use crop wallpaper.
Depend on the image, set it with the gtab horizontal or vertical.
Voila, no low rez crap background.

I've got a bit of free time until summer semester starts and i wouldnt mind spending some time on getting this fixed once and for all.

It's the built in gallery app made by cooliris, which is 16bit. Google's own gallery app that was there before android 2.1 was 24 bit. They opted for the 3rd party solution probably for it's 3d interface to attract more regular consumers.
I love google's apps for it's functionality. But IMO, graphical interface smoothness is not one of their strong areas.
I am on Calkulins 1.1, Clemsyn 9, Launcher Pro, and my wallpaper was always 1/3 cut off and moved to the bottom of the screen. Last night I switched to Go Launcher and it was fixed. Wallpaper looks perfect. Go Launcher has about 7 themes that are free and really cool. It functions a lot like Launcher Pro and is free.
happened to me
Got my gtab a few days ago and tried some new launchers tonight, when I switched to the toshiba launcher my wallpaper messed up. Live wallpapers work fine but normal ones are cropped, tried the fix posted but I got a "no photo to display" message and I don't know what folder the wallpapers are in to fix it.

Yeah, its a 10.1 thing. I'd hit that button far too much on accident, it seems silly to have it so available. I'm glad I traded my Galaxy for the Tablet S, the quick launch icons at the top are FAR more useful.

Hi,
What's the simplest way to get a landscape picture to show completely as a wallpaper? Have tried a few on the tablet wesites but you're always asked to crop it using gallery or quickpic (if installed)
Can you please let me know a simple way to do this, or the resolution I need to alter pictures to, in order to make them fit the screen nicely?
Many thanks.

There are many threads about getting wallpapers to fit the tablet standard (1200x800) resolution. Especially, in the Xoom forums. Also, there's an app in the market called 'droidiris', which has many great hd wallpapers for tablets. Check it out! And 'all wallpapers' is good too. Just google like "android tablet wallpaper format", or something. I can't remember the 'tricks' off hand.

Wallpapers Thread

Been looking for some good wallpapers for my tab but still not liking many so far.
Thought would be good idea if everyone share ones they have or links to where good ones exist.
Also I've been looking at 1280 x 800 resolution ones & always seem to require being cropped. Is this not the correct size?
I'm one for minimalistic and dark wallpapers. the less distraction the better.
this one was my standard wallpaper for ages! i kept coming back to this one because its just so nice to look at.

Depends what you are into. If you google something like Nature Wallpapers HD you should get quite a few sites where you get install straight off the net. Sometimes you get a choice of resolutions. And it's better than copying it into the tab because you don't loose the resolution over cropping. You would have a choce of theams like sports, natur ... Some of them are really good looking. Good luck.
nice wood one thanks
I also prefer dark wallpapers but on the phone. On the tablet and desktop I prefer the high-contrast type of wallpaper, the one that will bring in front the elements on the screen.
So, currently I have this wallpaper: http://i44.tinypic.com/16karly.jpg

I'm glad you like it .
The launcher is ADW EX - and this thing is allowing the naming of the icons/folders according to my liking. All the icons on the main desktop, except Play store, are folders containing the respective applications.
The widgets are:
big weather - "HD widgets"
small monitors in the bottom left - "Battery monitor widget" and "System Tuner"
the music player - PowerAMP
toggles set on the bottom rigt - "Extended Controls"
The other two are Calendar widget from touchwiz and the mailer is "Moxier mail".
That's all ... simple yet functional
Darker than ever for me.

Rosario, don't get me wrong but what's with all this promovation of that application? You've mentioned it once, I think is enough. Are you the developer and you feel you're not appreciated enough?
No, is not my app or anything like it-

Wall paper issue, any permanent solutions?

I have scoured the four corners of the Earth looking for a permanent solution to the wallpaper scaling issue since November and I have yet to see a solution. I have been using wallpaper wizard and it works but after switching between horizontal and vertical. Anyone know of any permanent solutions without cropping?
This works flawless for me...

This might sound weird, but i had this issue too. I was using Nova Launcher and wallpaer wizardrii and for a while thought it was a Nova issue. I switched back to stock launcher and then applied a default wallpaper and too my surpise the same issue happened.
On a whim ive uninstalled Wallpaper Wizardrii, went back to Nova and installed a full res wallpaper again using Quickpic and since then i have not had the issue, however i only did this yesterday so i cant claim it is Wallpaper Wizardrii thats definately causing it yet.
However, normally, i would have had the problem by now.
Simple Image Wallpaper Free is what I used to use, and it worked great, for Landscape anyway. Wasn't all that pleased with portrait with the wallpaper I had, but the experience will be different depending on what your wallpaper is. You can also choose a whole different image just for portrait mode too.

I tried it but the image quality seem to be lacking. Maybe I will try the nova launcher

I also use Simple Image Wallpaper in conjunction with http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/downloads/date/hdtv/

The problem is that wallpapers are too low res. Get 5120 x 3200 wallpapers from wallpaperswide and then apply them with picspeed
Real Wallpaper Scaling Fix!!
I have finally found a complete and real fix for the wallpaper scaling issue when selecting an image that is of high resolution for the wallpaper. Download the app "Simple Image Wallpaper Free" and then download the images in the resolution that you want. This app is actually not installed in the app drawer but is installed under "Live Wallpaper". If you press and hold on the main desktop screen, select "wallpaper", then "Live Wallpapers", after this you select "Simple Image Wallpapers Free". Next you will click "settings" and click the option that says "Fill Screen" and put your high res images in where it says "select image." You can also have the wallpaper switch to a different image upon rotation of the screen.

What scaling issue are you referring to?
I also use wallpaperswide.com along with simple image wallpaper.

Wallpaper issues seem to go away for my dad when all alternative lauchers are removed. I don't know if that can help someone else, but try it.
Remove all other launchers (nova, go, etc.)
Reset your wallpaper using just the gallery option, not alternative image viewers such as justpictures or quickpic.
See if that makes a difference.
It works for my dad's Nexus 10. I haven't had the issue, since I don't use alternative launchers anyway.

I think he means:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It hides the top and bottom system bars, basically letting whatever is shown on your screen, take up the whole screen. Only possible on custom ROM's though.
