I Allways use the custom 00001 prl when at school during the day due to the school haveing thick walls and when I get home my prl magicly changes to 21083 I do NOT have that .prl anywhere on my phone so I am curious... Can they change my prl without me knowing? (The only Way I notice is because at my computer I usually roam when im on the sprint 21081.prl and I see me roaming)

I could be wrong but I think that out phones auto updates prl?
If you've been into a service center recently I've heard that sprints made a policy that there tech's have to run all the phones on some new system they have which updates the phones PRL (and who knows what else) supposedly to cut down on roaming costs for Sprint.
I watched my phone automatically update.

Happened to me as well, auto update. Didn't know that could happen, but I'm back on custom PRL
I'm still on prl 11115 so they didn't change mine yet. Maybe they are only looking for forced roam prl's.

yeah its not the first time this has happened to me and it seems to be only when i get home and use my airave...
Simple answer is yes. They magically change your PRL.
Complex answer is that based on your account type (corporate, individual, prepaid, etc.), geographical location, etc, they do a 'push' to send out updated PRL's in order to give you what they think is the best service (note that I said 'what they think is the best service' and not actually the best for each individual person). Also, when you take your phone in to have it serviced, yeah they update your software and PRL to make sure that everything is functioning properly.
If you find that it doesn't work for you, then just change it (QPST, or whatever method you prefer). It shouldn't get changed until they initiate another 'push' or gets manually updated (initiated by you or serviced by Sprint).
Are the 11115 and 00001 PRL's still up anywhere? I've lost mine and it seems all of the d/l links from all the various threads here no longer work.

I live in the Tampa Bay area which is generally an old Alltel stomping ground, and when I got my TB, I had to have VZ push the hybrid PRL (13006) to my phone to get any decent signal. I rooted last night (successfully, thanks to your guides and posts) only to find that my PRL had been reset to 15027. Is there any way for me to restore this setting, or am I going to have to call VZ tech support and get them to pull the hybrid PRL for my phone again? And ... more importantly, will I have to do this every time I flash a new ROM, or is there a way for me to backup/restore this information? Any help you can give me will be much appreciated.

These phones don't use PRLs in the classic sense. They receive the roaming list on the fly so whatever PRL it says you have should be the one you need. What's more, the method used by LTE isn't at all like cdma. I've been all over hell and back with mine. It kinda sucks going to a new area because it can take up to an hour for it to find signal and data service sometimes. Took mine most of an hour to find data when I got the thing at the store. I'm also not sure a ROM would change the PRL since that's radio stuff. Most likely if it changed, the phone did it by itself.
If you can get your hands on the prl file these links should help out. I was able to get a cricket droid inc back onto verizon by using these prl files.

I'm running CM7 and switch between that and MIUI roms.
I don't want to flash the wrong one. Can someone guide me in the right direction??
Thank you.
You can look here for radios. But you should read as much as possible before flashing a radio.

Also try updating your profile and prl and see if that helps. Or try a data reset.

correct. I suppose it is possible, but no one has figured it out yet.
Agreed.. I don't think us HBOOT 1.5 guys can flash radios yet. Another thing to try, if you haven't already, would be to install the Open Signal app. It'll give you your radio signal strength in dbm and even plot your current tower's position on a map. Great app although it is a bit of a resource hog with all of its radio polling.

You might do better to flash a PRL. Safer and can lead to better signal without even changing the radio. Lots of people on here think they know it all and will tell you the PRL only affects roaming signal, but dont listen to them as they probably havnt tried changing PRLs and have no idea what they are talking about. Flashing PRL 00001 fixed my signal at my apartment by connecting me to the Verizon towers without being on Roaming mode. And 01337 gave me a little bit better signal in my apartment over 00001, even though I dont appear to be connected to Verizon towers anymore. Lots of people really like 11115 and I am going to try that next as it should be the best for signal since it uses both Sprint and Verizon towers equally and gives full 3G on either company's towers.
To flash a PRL you will need to be on a Sense ROM that has the extended EPST.apk installed. Put a PRL you want on your SD card, dial ##775# and put in your MSL code. From there you just select which PRL you want, press menu and then commit changes. Reboot and your good to go.

Actually my friend, I appreciate you trying to help me but in this case I will help you out.
I did tho PRL trick a year ago on my regular Evo. About 4 months later, I received a letter from Sprint stating that "even thou roaming is free on sprint, due to the overage roaming that I have used, they will terminate my services if my habits don't change in a month." Well I tried my best to change them but i guess they weren't satisfied and terminated my services. I had to call and beg and go on a 90 probation period where if I went over the limit by even 1min/mb, they you disconnect me. So I'll never do prl again. Instead, I downloaded this app called Roam Control and only use it when i'm waiting for an important phone call.
Radio on the other hand is a signal from Sprint and will not put you into roaming.
Aren't the radios loaded in the RUU? Can't you just run that and then unlock again with htcdev?

Well, I am not entirely certain that the radio is loaded into an RUU. Someone recently told me that the RUU would not change the radio version of your phone.
The thing is,the Hboot 1.5 folks cant revert to a pre HBoot 1.5 via RUU anyhow, so no one can try it. And while there are two RUU's available to Hboot 1.5 people. (2.08.651.2 & 2.08.651.3) They both have the same radio. So I can't run one over the other to compare radio versions before and after the RUU. Once a new update gets pushed with a different radio version, I could run the RUU to see if the radio flashes with it.
The one way I would think it is possible to switch radios is to re-lock the device, run an RUU to unroot, then accept an OTA to get an updated radio. Once you take the new radio via OTA, you would use HTC unlock again to unlock, flash a custom recovery, flash the SU binary and voila.
This of course is contingent that HTC doesnt backtrack on their unlocking promise. If you took an OTA and the new update is unable to be unlocked via HTC, you would be screwed. So we would want to make sure that they dont push an update that they wont support with the HTCDev tool. And of course the other flaw to this is that you can only "upgrade" the radio and never revert to a prior radio that you may have liked better.

I guess it was this sentence which led me to believe that.
I didnt ever say that though, that was some other guy. I cancelled my service by myself about 7 months after this post because I moved to Verizon since I was using their network all the time anyway. Sprint service is just too ****ty in my area. And not just cell/data coverage either, but text problems on their network were the worst I have ever seen. But I never had any problems from Sprint about data usage or things like that. The person who said Sprint contacted them about roaming usage must have been using multiple gigabytes of data each month, I normally only use 500MB-1GB at most unless I am tethering something.

Ohhh, **it! Sorry about that, I grabbed the wrong user. My bad. Well, thanks for the followup anyhow! The information is still useful. Sounds like a similar situation to me...about to say goodbye to Sprint.
Thanks again.
So... Coming from an epic, live in the sticks and have a few questions about my signal, or lack of... First off, the evo doesn't get as strong of a signal as my epic did. I'm fine with that, I dig the phone and can deal with it but when I leave home I've got about 7 miles that I get no signal at all, the epic got one to two bars in this area, I need to use roam control to pick up service in this stretch. Shouldn't it automatically roam when signal is available if I have no service with sprint there? Doesn't make sense to me that cell signal is available but I have to force my phone to use it.
Also noticed that I'll randomly, but briefly, lose signal at home with my airave...

That's for the verizon prl that some members are getting heat for and some have even been terminated for using the verizon prl. The sprint prl's are fine to use. Basically its a hit and miss kind of thing, you have to find one that works for you. For me I just keep all of them on my sd card and I use them when I have to. If my wife and I are going to her parents houe for the weekend I have to change my prl because with the latest prl for sprint I would get no service there. So I swap to the 60678 prl and then I have service. When were headed back home I just update the prl and it reverts back to the latest.
Here's the list of prl

Look for PRL 11115. That's the sprint business one, where you can roam on verizon's 3g, but it will default to Sprint's towers first.
00001 is the PRL where you only roam on verizon's 3G, and this is what is getting users kicked off the network.
Has anyone else had their data speed crap out on them after updating from 21089 to 21090? After updating this morning, I'm seeing a "1x" above my data icon now and even SpeedTest is timing out. If your data is fine, are you on a custom or stock ROM?
I'm on MeanRom v4.5, s-off with HBoot 1.4.

Once again, stock PRL's have no effect on data speeds when you are on the Sprint Network. Stock prl's only affect what towers your phone connects to when roaming.

Do you have proof of this? Seems to me the prl tells the phone which towers to connect with, Sprint or otherwise. Why would they bother updating it so often, if it is just used for roaming? I seriously doubt they spend that much money on man hours just to update roaming towers.
Preferred Roaming List. Sprint phones will automatically connect to sprint towers. The PRL is only used to tell the phone what towers and frequencies to connect to when roaming.
Then explain prl 00001 that only connects to Verizon.

The PRL affects every tower the phone connects to. ON network or OFF.
The list contains data about every access point on or off network that the phone can connect too. It then has priority set for on network access points so those will be chosen over an off network access point.
Roaming two definitions
1. When a wireless device associate automatically with a different access point.
2. When a wireless device connects to another providers access point.

Because it sets the Sprint towers as the roaming towers, thus the phone thinks Verizon towers are the towers it should be normally connecting to.

YOU MIND PROVING YOUR STATEMENT?
Everyone that got the update did a profile update. SINCE THEN EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME SLOW DATA ISSUE! SPRINT PURPOSELY DID THIS!
Sprint's data network is crap anyway. And I highly doubt Sprint would purposefully release a PRL to limit phone's data usage.
There was a prl pushed last year that everyone got and everyone was stuck on 1x data. I think this might have been when I was on the lg Optimus s, can't really remember... But either way, I traveled quite a ways back and forth to work, data never changed from 1x. Reverted to an older prl, I got 3g back. I know prl is meant to control roaming... But I think there's more to it than that. I've seen first hand it affect more than when I roam. But I will buy that it won give anyone faster or slower speeds from the same network other than affecting HOW it connects to the network.

Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Well, it would appear that something is amiss here with the PRL. I am running a custom rom, and when it was loaded, it had 21089 as the PRL. Data speeds here and places I travel were acceptable. Now this past week I was on the road to a location that according to the sprint coverage maps should be "best" for the coverage, but the entire time I was there the phone only had 1X connection at what could be described as sucky speeds at best. The fact it indicated 1X would tend to tell me it was actually roaming and not actually on a Sprint network. So is it possible that due to agreements they have in place with other providers, they show coverage in areas they actually have no towers and are using other providers towers? I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that those of us who do not have the "corporate" PRL are downgraded to 1X when roaming. Now that I am back in my home area, 3g is back and everything is back to normal.
By the way, I did not do a profile or prl update, so I am not sure when or how 21090 got loaded.
I do plan on contacting the folks at Sprint and see if they have any explanation for this level of service. Do not have a lot of hope here, but can't hurt. I will post an update if they give me anything actually useful!
Have a good weekend everyone.

I was only trying to help as well as see which PRLs were working best for others to give them a try and see how they worked for me.
