Hi
Is there a way to move the games from the memory tab to the SD card that i plaguing
You mean you plugged it in via a converter in the bottom of the tablet?
Yes and then there is no options to move it to SD
You could use a file browser to move anything from the external storage to the tab and back. I doubt you could move installed apps to or from it though.
---------- Post added at 11:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:08 PM ----------
Also if you mean game data from sd not the actual app, if you moved it to an external device the game wouldn't be able to find it and would try to download it again. I am struggling to understand exactly what you mean but hope that helps.
Yeah, I could imagine it probably works more like an USB, which means that you can't install anything on it, but only use it as a storage and file transfer device.
Ok
So its looks a little bit useful to get it.
Its not hlep at all
Useful cos you can store music an videos on it and other big files.

Ok so I have a 32gb s3. And a 32gb class 10 micro sd.
My question is:
What should I save on the internal memory and what should I save on the micro sd? Just curious

I would store all of your apps on internal memory, and any large files on the microSD card. That way your apps are accessing fast internal NAND flash, and your large files are portable on the micro SD in case you need to move them.
^^ always a good policy. Music, movies, rom files, etc.. have always had their place on the external card. However, with the 32GB internal storage, you may find yourself moving more stuff to internal storage as it becomes more an issue of portability than memory management.
IMO apps should definitely stay in phone memory so that they load more quickly and work with the external SD card removed (when sharing files or moving stuff around).
I would advise that pictures be kept in internal storage because of the generally higher failure rate of external cards. We've had corrupted cards sweep across the first Galaxy S device, and a lot of people lost a lot of data this way. I've had all my internal/external files backed up to 3 cloud storage solutions ever since, using this awesome app: FolderSync.
It may not be a bad idea to occasionally back up important files (like pictures and documents) to the external storage.
Thank you. As far as music and photos?
Where do you think these are best kept?

Apps can no longer be stored on external storage. Thanks to Google, they coded android to only allow apps access to internal storage, even with apps such as apps 2 sd it is no longer possible. If you root, you will have to move your titanium backup file over to external sd card, and then go under preferences in TB and change the default location. The new cwm will still write to your sd card but that's it. Your very lucky to have gotten the 32gb model, because 16gb could be filled up if your a gamer because of how much data modern games store. You will have to manually move music, movies, and any other large files to your external card. There is a very long thread about this in the international models forum. Also, I believe there's an app that can move game data to the sd card, you have to be rooted & you will find the link to it in the forum that discusses this issue. I hope this makes some sense to you, it's kind of odd & it took me about a week to even discover it.
Thanks bro. Makes sense.

Question.
If I have photos etc saved to my internal storage. And I'm flashing roms. Full wipes required.
Won't I lose all my data and pics?

If your phone has an sd card in it, the first time you use the camera app it will ask you if you want to store photos on your sdcard or extsdcard, choose extsdcard & they will be on your external sd card in a folder called dcim. Only apps that are preloaded on the phone are allowed access to the external storage to write. If/when cyanogen mod comes to our phone, then apps will be able to be stored on extsdcard as usual because cm is built from source, and they have recoded(I guess that's how u would say it) this area of the Android system. So... Stored on extsdcard.... Then pics will be safe, hope I've helped.

You can actually us the stock app called "my files" or a number of third party apps. I use my files or sometimes esFile explorer. Just long press the file you'd like to move and from the list that pops up select copy, cut, or move. Then go to the area you want to the file in & if using esFile explorer touch the button at the top of the screen that says paste, or if using my files press the button at the top that says done. Hope I've helped ya out....
I was wondering, is there any way to hide the files that are placed on the "sd card" that are placed there by Android/Any other apps. I basically only want to see the folders that I make/put in there, and hide the ones that I don't use. Thnx in advanced
Seeing as it's vfat, you could maybe try setting the hidden flag, but I'm pretty sure it'd just be ignored.. and I don't think you can even really set it under linux/android. So yeah probably not much you can do, as hidden files are usually prefixed with a period. You might already have a couple hidden files on your SD card. However if you add the period to the files you want to hide, the programs looking for them won't find them because they're a different name.
Sorry I couldn't really help you but I guess you learned something, heh. Some file managers might have some kind of file hiding feature.

Troll elsewhere.
Put a '.' in front of the folder
EX: /sdcard/DCIM/100MEDIA/.naughty
The gallery wont see it, so no pictures or videos will show up if thats what you want
Only way to see the folder is with root explorer or another file manager.

Yup, prefixing a folder name with a (dot) "." is Linux for a hidden folder - ".hideme".

Hiding the pron?
Sent from my HTC Droid DNA
Putting a period "." in front of the folder will mark the folder as hidden by Linux standards, but be warned that the root user can see hidden folders by default. So, any app in the /system/app folder or any app with root privileges that doesn't follow the Linux hidden folder convention will see it and use it as a normal folder.

If you just need to hide files from the gallery/music player adding a file called ".nomedia" will prevent most apps from displaying it.

I guess the main reason that I was asking if there is an easy way to hide folders is because I don't particularly like looking through a longer list of folders than necessary when finding the folder I want to go through.
So I'm not sure if this is Samsung's fault or Androids. But I'm very disappointed with the Samsung Note 2 on Verizon, for one MAIN reason. The SD card is 16GB internal which honestly isn't very much. Everything you put on your phone is put onto the internal storage of the device instead of the " optional " SD card slot which I have a 32GB in there. WHY even have this option if you can't use it to put apps on it? My main beef with this is Google Play Music and Video's. Recently Google Play launched the service where it has unlimited streaming etc which is wonderful. Come to find out you can't change the directory of where it's put at. I am Rooted. I have tried beans ROM SD swap which STILL puts the music on the 16gb even though the swap says it did the transfer and I have 32GB free. I have looked for weeks and ran many scripts, use Rom Tool Box Pro and there is just no work around for this that I have found to work on my phone. Heck I even go to sdcard/data/android/come.google.android.music and yeah it has a data and file folder but there is NOTHING even in them, even when I cache my music in Google Play or click the " keep on device " Im so frustrated I don't even know what to do. I bought the new Die Hard movie yesterday which is 3GB and of course it saved it to my internal storage. The reason I wanted it on my phone is because I'm taking a trip to California soon and being a Verizon customer I only have 2GB of Data ( which sucks ) so Yeah. I know this is really my first post and I'm sorry to be ranting and raving but I have no IRL i can vent to about this because they will have NO clue what I am talking about. So besides beating my head on my keyboard, slicing my wrists or throwing the phone away does ANYONE have some good advice on what to do with my whole situation?
Hope everyone has a good memorial day weekend. Thanks All.
I hate this too, but I think both are to blame. I blame Google for no longer allowing us to install apps to the SD card, and for not allowing developers to install additional game content to the SD card. I'm not sure if this is the fault of Samsung, but why did they call the internal memory sdcard instead of internal? Every app that defaults to the external card such as Titanium Backup thinks the internal "sdcard" is actually the sdcard, because I seem to recall that on my Thunderbolt Google Play Music always downloaded songs to the external card.
Having expandable memory is pretty pointless for me, because the only thing I can use it for it TWRP backups, Titanium Backups, Pictures, and manual files that I copy over. I need more memory for apps, app data, and Google Play Music files.
I have my camera setup to save pictures to my SD Card and my music is also saved there and I'm not rooted.
Just checked and Amazon MP3 files are stored on the internal memory.

So you feel my pain geoff5093. If I knew this was going to happen I would of opted to find a "comparable" phome with 32gb internal but then I looked and everything has 16. This is really a remarkable device except for that fact. I think your right about it being both samsung and androids dault. I seem to remember on gingerbread OS you could move apps so I dont know why they would take a step back. Having the SD card on here is about as useless as a turd in a toilet. I doubt 4.2.2 will fix this issue as well. No clue what to do.
Also I came from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which had 32gb internal and no SD and I was happy with that. Blah lol I need a beer!
So any of the apps2sd apps don't work no

Thats correct or if it does say it moves it , it just tricks you to think you it is but in reality its putting everything on your internal memory.
Ah that sucks! Even those for root?

So what's the problem.? There is plenty of space just use sd card put all movies and pics on it. Then use the program gl to sd to put large games on sd card. I have a 64gb sd card you should have no problem putting a 3gb movie of the phone

The problem is google music and movies.. I cant just simple move the movies I buy or rent on google play to my sd card because the program doeant see them then.. I when I put music on my devie for google play it does the same thing.. Im *****ing because google wants u to buy their movies and music but dont give you a viable solution to store them and 16gb isnt a lot especially when apps and the system take almost have of the disk space. I realize I can take music from my computer and use the usb to transfer music but thats not what im trying to do.
Got it
Okay well with movies bought through Google movies you can download them to do card via wifi once downloaded you can move them to sd of phone would that not accomplish what you want?

While I am checking this out.. Does any one know for sure where Google Play Music puts it's music? I thought and have read it was sdcard/data/Android/come.google.android.music but the Cache and File folder on there are completely empty... ( I am rooted and using root browser ) and if I add an entire album from google play to device it shows that my internal storage went down but I still can't see the files..
I am currently downloading that Master Clean app off of google play to see what it does.

I did a Google search and found the music files I had downloaded but the files, according to the post I found, said they were only findable in Root Explorer for some odd reason. They were also in a odd place if I remember correctly. I wish I could find that post again, but maybe try Root Explorer and try Googling Google Music location if you haven't already.

After a few unsuccessful attempts to locate where Google stores the files I gave Root Explorer a shot and it works. The music files are stored as mp3s in /data/data/com.google.android.music/files/music and the tracks are renamed (such as 3947.mp3 etc.). I currently have one album pinned on the device, the album has 14 tracks and there are 14 mp3 files in the folder stated above. Now, I expected the tracks to be protected and not playable in other music player apps (or on other devices) but I was kind of hoping that after I move them to my external microSD, Google Play Music would still be able to play those - which is not the case... *sigh

Yup, you can download as many as you can fit on your internal storage. The problem is not being able to play the songs once moved to a different location (unless youre perhaps aware of a method to do so?).
My Samsung GS3 Sprint was hacked /exploited and modified last week. It's driving me insane and I need help. This also happened to five laptops and some in our home. The only connection is WiFi since my phone hasn't touched the computers. They are still compromised after wiping, low level formatting, reinstalling the operating systems, etc. It appears they are all connected to a virtual mount point or network. Same with phonwith severale. It just rebooted and all of the apps looked different. I looked in processes and found almost a hundred. Each had fake permissions with misspellings authorizing full access to the phone. The processes are abbreviated or listed as com.android.remoteshell. They can be stopped most start back. I
From what I see, I think it's now rooted. I can't tell for sure because apps are looking in one spot but my phone's files were moved to another.
For example, I have three system folders which contain similar folders or files. They are all incomplete in some way. Some folders are locked and some aren't. I've tried rooting, flashing the stock firmware, and a few other things. Nothing works. I get the same processes back and I know the phone is compromised. I've found logs and packets showing my personal info being sent out. It also shows two mounts in a file explorer with multiple sd and usb mounts. A log from the Unified Toolkit says the root is a virtual sd card. It lists several folders and files it couldn't find. Rightnow Superuser is installed at System but system is where the apps are listed. I'm going to try to install there.
Is there a list somewhere of the file structure? Any ideas how I can remove these mounts? Any ideas at all? This is driving me over edge.
I'm also finding things that say Factory Mode or Knox Mode.

I have a weird issue. After updating my phone to Sony's official 6.0.1, I noticed that my phone isn't detecting pictures that I moved to the SD card.
Pictures that are created on the SD card by the camera app gets detected.
If I move a picture from internal storage to the DCIM folder on the SD card, it disappears from Album. The file is still there, but the phone just isn't detecting it.
It detects pictures on the internal storage perfectly fine. Using the 'Find and fix problems' option in the Album app will let the phone detect the pictures.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I also already tried clearing the cache and data of the Media Storage. It would detect the pictures that are already on the SD card, but wouldn't detect any new pictures that I move to the SD card.
It takes quite a while to pick up for me, if they dont show up then go into your settings (apps) and clear data for "media storage" then reboot and eventually they should show up
