[Q] Know anyone looking for a Thunderbolt? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Posted one for sale in marketplace
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379501
I apologize if this is not allowed, just wanted to make sure my fellow thunderbolt owners saw this.

You do realize you can pick up a brand new tbolt on eBay for less than you want for your used tbolt? No offense, just a heads up...used tbolts go for about 100.

The cheapest I found for a new one on ebay is an 8gb for $285 with no retail packaging. I did not realize they were as cheap but they are not as cheap as you say. I will lower the price to $220 shipped then, as mine is 32gb with all retail packaging.

Correct... The ones on eBay that are used for $100 are not in that good of condition or refurbed.
New ones are going for 300-350.
I have a new one listed locally for $400... Still sealed in package, never turned on... And I have had some interest. Was thinking about putting it up on eBay but.figured I would try local first

[Q] What's the best way to sell my old phone (Evo4G) to pay for my Evo3D?

I'm sure many of you have done this to subsidize the cost of our snazzy new beast.
I have the original box (that awful, terrible egg carton thing) and owner's manual. The device itself is a refurb I got from insurance, since my original Evo4G was stolen.
My biggest question is: since it is rooted, is it best to offer it that way? I guess my question is whether there's any market value to it being already rooted and thus getting more from an eBay auction (unless theres a better alternative to eBay that anyone knows). Or maybe advertise the option of: I can send it to you rooted or if you don't want it that way, I can unroot it for you.
If someone wants it rooted, basically I just need to do a full wipe and flash a rooted stock ROM. If they want it unrooted, I believe I need to unroot first, flash a stock ROM, then turn S-ON (might have that in the wrong order).
I hope this is an appropriate thread for this forum (instead of the Evo4G one) as it would be helpful to other people looking for a way to obtain the Evo3D.
My suggestion to you is Craigslist. Sold my hero a month ago for 100 bucks

I tried to sell mine on Craigslist for 200 but had no offers. Sprint, unsolicited, sent me an offer for 150. They don't want the memory card or charger either.

I sold mine on Ebay for 270 each
Hello,
I sold my 4G for 300 Dollars on Craigslist. I did happen to get a Replacement the week before I listed it. While my original 4G was Rooted, I held off Rooting this one, but did not do the GB Update so that the Buyer would have the option of Rooting or not doing so.
My Upgrade was not supposed to be until September, but I pleaded with Retention and they reset my eligibility. This happened the day after my Refurbished 4G arrived.
I threw in 2 Otterbox Defender Cases, an HTC HDMI Dock, and pointed out the 4G was a 004 Version and was only a week old. I actually received multiple offers and ended up selling to a guy who lives on the same Barrier Island that I do.
I would think it would be best if you could get it back to S-ON and not disclose that it has been Rooted unless someone asks. You could even offer to Root and customize the 4G for the prospective Buyer. It really helped for me as the guy who purchased mine wanted me to Root it, but when he went to Sprint to Activate it he walked out with 2 3VO's instead. I am now trying to help him sell the 4G. I have gotten a few offers around 250, but he wants 300 and I have not exactly killed myself trying to sell it.
Also, I think that sometimes the 4G's Sprint sends out as Recertified are actually new Phones. The one I got sure seemed that way and again was 004.
It helped greatly I sold mine before the 3D's Release. The marketplace has changed since then. There is another Website that offers more than 150 if the 4G is in pristine condition as well. The name eludes me.
Cheers,
JJ
Sprint gives you $150.

I sold my 4G on craigslist for $200 about 90 minutes after I had it posted.
Well, it's VERY EASY.
Sprint will pay $150.00 for your evo 4G in account or store credit. You can either take your EVO 4G to a sprint store, or do it online and ship it to them:
http://www.sprintbuyback.com/
Just did it today at the store and paid only $49.99 for my new 3D!
If it is in good enough shape, I would sell it on eBay... considering I sold a refurbished one with a deadspot on the screen for $200 cash (Fully informed description I might add) You could likely get $250-300 for one in real good condition.
Good luck!!!
Craigslist is probably your best bet if you feel safe using it. Followed by ebay... You could also sell it on these forums which is the choice I took mostly because I wanted my phone to go to someone in the community.

RadioShack gave me $167 on trade for the 3VO. I also traded in my Hero for $50 so had a store credit. I had the boxes and the chargers for both.
I posted my 4G on swappa.com for $250 and it was sold within 2 days. The cool thing is that doesn't matter if you're rooted, people there seem to prefer it. Also if someone is interested, they have the option to buy your phone right away via paypal.

Never heard of it. Is it any good?
We sold ours on Craigslist for $225 each. $0 for the upgrade. Been doing this for YEARS. Depending on how rapidly you are upgrading you can sell them and profit from the sale.

From what I hear, yes. If I remember right, its specifically for selling/trading android phones.
Sold mine for 230 on craigslist. Might have gotten more on ebay, but it'd barely be with it after dealing with the fees and the scammers.
Sold my Verizon iPhone on craigs. Had 10 offers by morning. Sprint would have bought for $220. So there's always a fallback if you want quick cash. Assume EVO 4g should have similar results.

How much to sell a 1 month old Atrix for ?

I am trying to get a quote on my Atrix. It is a month old and barely used. What should be my asking price ?
In absolute perfect condition 200 is going to be the most you get. Sorry if you were expecting more but id suggest you go on craigslist and look for what they are going for any actually 200 may be asking a little much
http://swappa.com/buy/motorola-atrix-4g-att
Depends on your location. In Canada, a Motorola Atrix (unlocked) goes for about $300 but varies from $250-$350 depending on condition and accessories.
You can always try cell4cash or gazelle
such a shame, the phone's specs are just now starting to be challenged by other new releases, and it came out in january. HDMI out, 1Gb ram,1930Mah battery......
you can get more than 200 dont get played
I've had my mint 4 month old Atrix up for sale on XDA and CL, and even at $225 shipped conus it still wont sell. Mint, non rooted and BL locked, all cables and og packaging.
It may just be a bad time of the year to sell.
Sent from my LG-P925 using Tapatalk
Remember prices on these sites are asking prices. Here in Norcal I see CL ads asking above $300 lingering weeks. One ad is asking $450 has been posted for several months.
It's difficult to know but $300 seems about the point where phones actually sell. I bought one for my son for $150, but I am a patient man.
In my opinion none of the new phones are better than the Atrix. The GN has no sdcard and the RAZR battery is not removable. Both are deal killers for me.

Price for used 16gb touchpad

What should I pay for one on craigslist in like new condition?

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $150, max.
I'm not sure what the average going prices are, however.
Bought a Min condition for 130 in CL
Sent from my AT&T Galaxy Note - please forgive if typos
$170 is a fair price.
I got mine for 170 from someone i know, a bit of pothead though. ( probably looking for a quick buck for some weed). Anyway, he also gave it to me in mint condition with the touchstone dock. There was a problem with the adapter and the retards at hp thought it was the touchpad. They sent me a refurbished one free of charge in replace of the old one. If you dont trust the seller, id do that but ymmv
just purchased a 32gb for $175. Could probably get a second one too. Both on CL.

It really depends how many are for sale in your area. Only one in the buffalo region, so I bought mine last week from Newegg.

Poll: Craigslist Or Ebay For Selling Old Devices?

Just wondering what everyone's preference is.
I jumped on the $49 refurbish Galaxy S3 deal to upgrade my wife's iPhone 4.
I may look into upgrading to Note 2 as soon as a refurbish is available (3-6 months?).
Android devices get AWFUL resale value (my Note 1 is worth less than my wife's iPhone 4) from online sites like Amazon/Gazelle, so only way to go is Craigslist or Ebay. I am in New York City so just wondering what is everyone's experience? Her phone is in great condition but power port and home button are not as reliable as it once was (both typical issues for iPhone's).
In my experiences you're going to get the top dollar amount from E-Bay selling your device unlocked. But then you have to deal with shipping, feedback, eBay's %, etc.
I strictly use Craigslist. I'm usually flexible on the price. Plus, start a little high and leave room to barter. Everyone likes to barter. It makes them feel like they got a better deal. You also don't have to wait while your auction ends. You get cash as soon as you sell.
Now, this all depends on the device you're selling. A Note1: Craigslist. Much more common device and not as high of a price tag. A Note2: EBay. Catch the big market of people willing to drop $600-800 for a device. You'll rarely find that on CList.

Both are good place to buy phone from provided the seller can put it in writing that the device will not be reported stolen, insurance claim or lost.
The device may work for several months or so, then suddenly it won't. The seller has then reported it either stolen lost or claimed insurance on it, the IMEI or ESN is then block by the carrier. Buyer beware.
I prefer eBay simply because you can get a good idea of who you are buying from or selling to by their feedback scores. You can require buyers have certain scores or higher as well as require immediate payment through PayPal. You can charge them shipping. One con is you get hit with a seller fee of around 9% if it sells. But craigslist people are more likely to try to haggle your selling price.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I liked ebay till they got greedy between their fees and paypal fees, your losing at least 25% of your profit. You have to raise your price to offset them and nobody will buy.
The last 2 devices I sold weren't touched on ebay. Must have relisted for free 6 times. I put them on craigslist and they sold in 3 weeks. I got $275 for a 2 year old iphone 3gs-32gb/wht (mint) and $275 for my 6 month infuse (mint). I would not have gotten nearly this much profit on ebay. And Craigslist is free.
Beware of people wanting to pay via paypal and have you ship when selling on craigslist. Usually a scam.
Deal face to face and cash only. Sell local.
I like CL but man the spam and bs you get is really getting out of hand

I dont think that would help. What they do (spammers) is send you an email from one address and the reply is to another. And then the spamming begins. "I like to arrange for payment and shipment and I am going to pay you x dollars more than your asking price blah blah blah. Or its a simple as "is this item still available for sale" seems innocent but nope. they also put the signature as if they are emailing from a cell phone. Smart F ers.....
Use swappa.com for selling android devices, $10 flat flee and PayPal free.

One thing I've noticed on eBay when selling my smart phones is that buyers will refuse to pay. One time the guy was bidding on multiple phones and thought he paid to much for mine. Another I never received any communication from the buyer.
I was able to realist but what a hassle and time consumer. Then of course you have the eBay and PayPal fees.

I usually sell my phone on CL before ebay. Only thing i hate selling on Cl is people spamming me with i'll pay by paypal and you ship it to Africa etc.... Ebay is ok for me if i'm buying. Hate to deal with all the hassle of shipping and then paying ebay and paypal after your item is sold!
Yeah the spam lately on cl is out of control

I listed my og note on Craigslist, eBay and Amazon. Ebay is not the place to sell of you want to get the most money for your sale and there are many people that buy and no pay so it becomes a hassle and time wasting. Amazon is the safest one if you want to sell something quick (given a competitive price) I had a guy purchase it for 420 but after shipping and fees I was going to make 375$. I had my listing on Craigslist until the last day when I had to ship it and I received a text from a guy interested on it. We met up 400$ after (made sure real bills) I went home and canceled the Amazon order. Lollll Craigslist is all about patience and knowing when to lower your price as time passes. Hence I started to sell my note for 470 plus accessories lolll

I've bought and sold ten devices on CL in the past couple years. Its a great place to get good deals.
I never use eBay anymore really. Not like I used to.
Three times on eBay I have had an auction go through the roof on price within the first couple of hours only to find at the end of the auction that the "buyer" was a fake. I have no proof, but I think other sellers use throwaway email addresses to artificially boost the price on competing auctions. Case in point: I listed my wife's old Galaxy Skyrocket when I bought her the refurb Note for $49. Within 2 hours of the listing start (at $80), the auction hit $719. Seven days later at the end of the auction, no payment. After filing the complaint, no word from eBay. And they are STILL going to charge me the listing fee even though the buyer was bogus.
Then on the Skyrocket I tried Craig's List. Four Western Union and PayPal offers for twice as much as I was asking for within the first hour if I would "ship immediately". One even sent a bogus "Western Union" payment email without knowing my name, email address or virtually anything else. I updated the add to say "local pickup only" and next came the "please drive the phone to my location as I don't own a car" messages. The ad lived for a day on Craig's List before I pulled it.
Years ago, I sold a couple of things on Amazon's auction site. I am not sure how to do that today, and even if I did (assuming they still do that), I am not sure I would get much because I am not convinced there is the same traffic there.
I went to Gazelle. They sent me a box and when they got it, a $125 e-gift card from Amazon. I probably could have had more selling it myself, but who has the time to deal with the BS? I guess I was lucky in that Gazelle saw value in what I had. I have a Asus Transformer TF700T that I am about to sell, and they aren't interested in that. And I hate the thought of having to use either Craig's List or eBay, but I am not sure there is another way.
I sold one of my old CB radio mics on eBay, as is, no returns, because it was old, and I can't control how the buyer hooks it up. The buyer complained to eBay it didn't work, they MADE me return his money, then a couple weeks later I got a different mic back. You have to be extremely careful how you word your ad, I try not to use them anymore.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the XDA Marketplace. I've bought and sold many devices on both Ebay and CL but I have gotten the best results lately right here. No fees, cool community, and the ability to negotiate trades is great! I run an electronics store and I'm going to start selling some of our clearance merchandise on the market if it doesn't break any rules.

Looking for a deal!

Hey everyone, I've been looking to get a gs4 lately and haven't had any luck finding any deals online or in stores for a full price phone. Does anyone know of a good deal for the white gs4 on Verizon? (no factory unlocked phones I want the Lte) any help would be appreciated.

Best deal I found was Costco. $200 with a two year extension of my contract which was nothing to me, I'd have stayed with VZW with or without the discount.
NOTE: The Costco kit also includes screen protectors, a pop on plastic case, a car/home charger and a cable for the charger.
I got mine at Dell. It was $160 for an upgrade and came with a $100 Dell e-gift card. There's a $50 gift card option for general public, while the $100 one is for Dell Advantage members (free to join). Also came with free two day shipping. Just gotta find a way around the $30 Verizon upgrade fee

I didn't find any when I got mine at full retail, other than I sent in the rebate just to see if they honored it like they did in the past even if I didn't re-up for the 2 years. However, it seems like they denied it this time, but I chatted with a rep who forwarded it to the 'corporate office', so maybe it will slip through the cracks... or I'll just get it completely denied. Other than that, eBay / craigslist is my only idea, unless you can find any verizon wireless gift cards at a discount, I didn't.
I got mine from Amazon, it listed it for $179.99. However, they didn't charge the $30 upgrade fee so all in all, it's $200.
Not too bad, imo.
In all honesty, anytime I shop for anything online, I google a coupon for that site. For example, I bought my Galaxy S4 through Wirefly the other day, and googled a Coupon. I found one that knocked $20 anything which helped (sort of) offset the activation cost!
Just try your local craigslist. I bought one that was just 2 weeks old with an otterbox defender in exchange for my S3 and $100. There were a few listed in the $400 range.
