Based off CM9 and its a AOKP ROM.
Link to main thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638601
Video to show you what it is like:
What I found that does not work/problems:
HD video on YouTube, Normal 480p video works i think
Some graphical glitches not many though
Google chrome browser
Tablet apps from market can not be downloaded, although you can side load them and they will work
Usb mounting ??
Bluetooth
Camera on all ICS roms for this device
Overall though this ROM is great and try it out it the faster ROM yet.
Bluetooth and camera are not working either, deal brakers for me.

SD card doesn't mount either. I can live without bluetooth, camera, etc but my life is on my SD card.
Flashed it earlier and it does look promising. If we ever get a 3.0 kernel that would solve most of the issues.

I don't remember where, but I read that while the device is on, you take out the SD Card, then put it back in, and Android will mount it. I tried that and it worked, but I'm not sure how safe it is to do that. It certainly is inconvenient.

USB Mounting Issues
regarding the usb mounting issues, do you mean the external sd card doesn't mount when the device is on and you try to access it? For me the external card mounts fine. Before flashing the tablet mode mod I flashed the AOKP milestone 4 port so it might be an issue with CM9 and tablet mode?
I also noticed that I couldn't view the internal or external sd cards on my computer but I found an app which makes both cards visible to my pc. Its called Multi-Mount SD Card Lite and its available on the Play Store.

Yea i can not mount anything from the rom. Personally I just boot into recovery and mount all, so I have internal and sd card access.
That is weird. Once it is booted up, I pop the card out and put it back in. Presto-chango the card appears and I restored everything from Titanium Backup.

hello team,
i have an I777, the problem i receive is : E: can't mount /emmc/
the i read a lot articles about this and non of them is looks like my problem, because the internal sd is detected in the MCW recovery like the external SD, abd when you try to mount the internal SD he just reconize that one like a external when i connect the external SD card in the phone, he detect that one like the internal SD, and let me mount the OS, but when the system restart to open the OS is not working and just send the galaxy sII screen and then shoot down the cel.
help please!!
If I'm understanding this correctly, in settings>storage and in there you can swap the storage settings.
Sorry if this isn't your problem. You might want to explain more.
Cheers!

well the problem is the phone not enter to the OS, if you try to install the factory image same issue, when you enter to the recovery mode with the CWM you can see the 2 SD card the internal one and the external but in the options display like the internal SD card is detected like as an external and when i mount the external SD he detect that one like the internal SD card, I'm not able to enter to the android just to the recovery mode, i use odin to install different kernels and the problem is the same, i install the gingerbread stock OS and the problem is the same.
I think I understand your problem. It has to do with which kernel your using. On some the two sd cards are swapped on others it is correct. There is really not much you can do about it in recovery except try to keep track of which is really which. I suggest making a folder on your internal called "internal" and a folder on the external called "external". Then you'll always know which one your actually in.

He's right. Try flashing something else and see what happens.

welll i'm not able to use the phone, just to connect in the computer with the recovery mode and use to mount usb, but when i do that the systems i connect the phone not detect the external SD, but detect the internal SD when i change the kernel the CWM detect both SD cards, but in the incorrect places, when i install the siyah 3.1 not run the phone i was just able to enter to the download mode, then i use the NEAK, enter to the recovery mode and not detect non of the SD and not let me mount the SD cards when i go to the mount options, i use the rogue sm recovery to reset the settings but the problem persist, then use the sph cwm fixed but the problem is the same, then i install again the gingerbread ( the factory OS ) not pass the galaxy s II screen, but if i connect the cell by usb he enter to the gingerbread,
this is something ready weird!!!!

Thats not weird man, Samsung screws with stuff, AOSP builds attempt to right this. The fact that you cant mount your sdcard to your pc in recovery, doesnt seem that big of a deal, put a file on internal and flash it, how hard is that?
And after going back to stock, a reset in 3e recovery might be required.
Hmmmmm. Try putting another kernel on an external SD card maybe?

if i connect the cel to the usb he enter with the gingerbread os, but sometimes shutdown the phone, if some one have any way to make a total reboot the cel because when i try to do that to the internal sd and the external sd not delete the information and also i don't try to delete or format the external and internal card in the computer when i have that one connected because i don't want to screw up more my phone.
Please don't take this the wrong way. But I'm guessing english is not your first language? What you are saying is not making much sense. At least not to me. Is anyone else making sense of it. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's hard to help you when it's hard to understand what your doing or trying to do.

well what is happening is that the internal SD is being detected in the cel and the external and vice versa, while the phone is connected to the computer via USB does get into the operating system, but sometimes goes in that way, that only is possible if I am with the gingerbread installed on the phone, and install different versions of kernels and none detects the internal SD where q is everyone sees the external SD as the primary I formatted both SD and still the problem, I put different fix to return to the state makes the phone but still the same problem ....
if as you say English is not my first language and as I am somewhat accelerated by this problem I have with the phone not devote myself to see if I'm giving me to understand what he said I hope this explanation makes more sense than the above and thank you for support as in any other forum I've read and seen q talk about a similar problem everyone talks about simple things that disabled the internal SD or q does not detect the external and stuff. but an investment of both and therefore it can not install the operating system to separate the kernels mentioned roms or installed from the CWM or from odin.
What rom are using and which kernel.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
the kernel use in this moment is the CWM 5.0.3,
also test with the NEAK and the Siyah 3.1,
the CWM is the only one can see both SD and enter to the recovery, the other 2 not let me enter to the recovery, in this moment i have install the gingerbread stock rom,

Im not sure either.
sdcard location inside CWM doesnt matter.
Put a ROM on either sdcard and flash it, following the instructions on the ROM's Original Post(OP)
End of story.

No kidding. He's obviously not having issues flashing. He keeps flashing different kernels.
Can anybody help me with this?? (apologies - I first posted thisin the 'General' forum and then realised it should have been put into the Q&A section)
ClockworkMod Recovery (v6.0.1.0) will not mount my SD card (SanDisk 64GB Micro SDXC Ultra Card) and posts "Error mounting /external_sd!"
I have successfully rooted my phone (GT-I9300 running the stock I9300XXBLFB at present) by following the various threads on XDA.
I formatted the sandisk SD card by using the S3's menu>settings>storage>format SD Card. The card is then visible when I run the the "My Files" app, showing both the internal /mnt sdcard and my new /mnt extSdCard which shows a total of 59.47GB space.
I subsequently installed the 'ROM Manager Premium v5.0.0.8" app from the Play Store and then flashed "ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.1.1".
My problem is that when I run ClockworkMod Recovery and select 'Recovery Mode' - 'mounts and storage'/'mount /external_sd' the app wont mount the SD card stating "Error mount /external_sd"
What am I doing wrong. I have searched the forum for similar problems but have drawn a blank unfortunately. Is it a known issue with the SanDisk 64GB Micro SDXC Ultra Card?
I am confused because the "My Files' app can see the card but the ClockworkMod Recovery app cannot.
I am trying to mount the external SD card so that my PC can recognise it and transfer some new downloaded ROMs to it.
A related (or maybe not) issue is that when I open the CWM Manager app it shows the following warning "this version of CWM Manager should be used with CF-CWM .1.1 or newer. It appears that you are running a different recovery. Various features have been disabled."
Help!!!!! Although I registered on XDA in 2006 I have been in the Android wilderness for several years having 'jumped ship' to the iPhone before returning back to the Android fold.
Unfortunately my knowledge isnt what it once was and I need a helping hand.
Thanks in advance to all who take the time to read this.

Recovery - ClockWorkMod (CWM)
A custom CWM 5.5 build is included in CF-Root, taken from this thread. This provides for the ability to install custom ROMs, and do nandroid (full device) backups and restores. Now also support OTA updates, but an OTA update itself will probably remove CWM, so you need re-flash CF-Root after OTA.
Not compatible with ROM Manager ! Use the CWM Manager provided instead (installed by CF-Root automatically)
Util - CWM Manager
My management application for CWM is also installed, see the recovery thread linked above for further details. It allows you to command CWM (install a ROM, make/restore backups, etc) from normally booted Android.
1st of all the cwm version your using is flakey at best with extsdcard support its something that has only been introduced in version 6.0.1.0 and seems to be still giving bother. If you want extsdcard support I would recommend chainfires version which is non touch but vgood extsdcard support.(find it in original android development)
Secondly cwm manager is the app to use with chainfires cwm versions not the other cwm versions flying around.

Thanks for the helping hand JJEgan .. very much appreciated. I am finding the learning curve for Android a bit steep at the mo because of my time spend throwing money at Apple!!
For anyone else who has a similar problem to mine then follow JJEgans link above, download "CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5.zip" to your PC then follow these instructions
* Your phone should not be connected to your PC yet
* Start up Odin3 v1.85
* Click the PDA button, which is located under the Bootloader button
* This opens up a box, all you need to do is locate and select the "CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5.zip" file
* Turn your phone OFF
* Hold Vol Down + Home + Power, it will ask you to cancel or continue ... press the Vol Up button to continue
* This will put the phone in 'download mode' it should say downloading...
* Connect your phone to your PC
* Make sure the Repartition is NOT checked (by default it should not be anyway)
* Click START
This worked for me and meant that I now have CWM Manager v3.60 running without the warning "this version of CWM Manager should be used with CF-CWM .1.1 or newer. It appears that you are running a different recovery. Various features have been disabled."

5.5.4.8 Touch works ok, dunno about mounting external, though. The none-touch that comes with CF-CWM works ok.
One question : Why you terribly require to mount the SD card from Clockworkmode??? since you have other options to tranfer your files to SD card.
I dont think you can mount even on the Cainfire's CWM, since SGS3 is not supporting to mount SD cards as mass storrage even booted condition.
Thanks SwiftSmoke, Kryten2k35 & ZACQ8 for the help!! much appreciated!!!
I have gotten myself terribly confused with all this although the 'mist' is now starting to lift a wee bit now
I have the premium version of the following CF apps - Rom Manager (CW Manager v3.60); Mobile Odin Pro v3.0; Triangle Away v1.70 and ROM Manager Premium v5.5.58 (CWM 6.0.1.0)
I have 'rooted' my mobile and successfully run 'Triangle Away'.
All my problems began when I tried to change my mobile from 'stock' ROM to a Cyanogen ROM (I downloaded a stable v9 Cyanogen ROM and placed it onto the root of my external SD card. All my problems then began when I rebooted CWM v3.60 into Clockwork Recovery mode to find out that it would not recognise my SD card).
I have now successfully applied CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5.zip.
Question: what is the simplist way to flash to Cyanogen from here? Can I download a ROM and simply use Mobile Odin from now on?
Thanks again for your patience .. I joined XDA way back in 2006 so im disappointed my skills are not up to much at the moment (like many many others I got seduced by the Big Apple!!)
Bob
dont use ROM Manager anymore with this CWM (CF)
use Vol-up+Home+power to enter CWM
you should be able to see now external SD, choose your CM9 zip file from
'install zip from SD card' / 'choose zip from SD card' then, you will find the zip,
if not your SD card is not supported, reeboot and place the zip on the internel SD card through MTP
then select the zip from "choose zip from internel SD card"
dont forget to do the other steps (wiping cache. dalvik etc.. as per the ROM thread instruction)
Thanks ZACQ8 - that is exactly the advice I need
I'll post back later as to how I get on so that anybody else with my problem can follow this through.
Bob
All sorted!
I have now got my mobile running CM9.0 RC2
What I didn't realise was that you can access both your internal and external SD card via the Kies app (it works on both OS X and Windows PC when connected by USB cable).
During the reboot my mobile automatically detected that I am on a UK/O2 sim (I wasnt too sure if it would and was initially put off changing the stock ROM thinking it would cause problems - it didnt and hasnt!!)
Thanks to all who helped!!

Any idea why that is? I'd like to use my sdcard the same way as any htc did, using TotalCommander and seeing it as an external drive. I had all sorts of backup and sync-scripts working with my htc, now they are all useless, because of this stupid restriction.
I guess I'll wait for someone to crack through this silly wall created by Samsung.
And I see some have already done the first part (external sdcard as USB drive) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009
I have same problem with Sandisk 64GB, I have installed Recovery from HERE, still not working, I did not try format SD through recovery yet, maybe problem is Recovery does not support ExtFat system which is on 64gb, but 32GB sd card work fine with out any extra manipulations, it has Fat32 on it.

Lots of technical reasons. With a running phone you can use the APK 'Easy UMS' to mount the sdcard as mass-storage anyway.
You _should_ be able to run the commands manually through adb in CWM.

I also have same problem/error with my Sandisk 64GB. Running latest version CWM 6.0.2.3 on rooted Stock ROM T-mobile GS3.
I would really like to save/backup/restore my nandroids from the ext_sdcard since they are over 2GB....on a 16GB internal space is more than I have to spare. Can anyone confirm a fix or workaround for this? Thanks in advance.
**UPDATE**
So it appears the problem is ExtFat is the problem...is there a way to format a 64GB card with FAT32? from what I have read on other threads using windows or the phone itself will use the EXTFat format.

I tried the Fat32 format and I was able to format the SanDisk Mini SD 64gb to Fat33; however, CWM still won't recognize the ext SD. Were you successful in any way? I May just downgrade from 6.0.2.3 to the 5's as mentioned in another thread, but I have to refind it. I'll update once I confirm that the ext SD will in fact in CWM.

I just found out I have the same problem. I am about to follow these steps but apparently it's inside the S3 thread.
Can I use this method for my Note 2 N7105?
I had the same problem on my Note II N7105 with ClockworkMod 6.0.3.2 and a 64GB SanDisk.
I backed up my SD card, then used this tool to format it to FAT32 on my Win7 Laptop: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...at32format.htm
After that I copied everything back. Works perfectly now. Thanks Rafi_ for pointing me in the right direction.
I've got SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSDXC formatted FAT32 with 32K cluster size and CWM 6.0.3.2 can't mount it. Installed PhilZ Touch 5, which is also based on CWM 6.0.3.2 and same issue.
Also can't read the contents in SlimBean or LiquidSmooth. It works fine in FoxHound, OmegaROM and Sotmax. My 8GB microSD works fine everywhere.
Any ideas why I'm not having the luck with this 64GB card with FAT32 format and 32K cluster size?
After full wipe and flash of 5.28.2013, I wasn't able to get my external SD card recognized in USB mass storage. Rewipe and flash, still no go. Reverted to 5.9.2013 and all's well. I'm guessing it was because of the new kernel, unless someone can tell me what I missed or did wrong?

I also noticed a similar issue with the 5-28 rls. I do any flashing while plugged into the wall charger. Initially all was well and was enjoying the new rls. After a days usage i plugged into the front usb panel of computer and noticed the mass storage enable app had the slimbean icon background. After enabling the usb storage on phone, only the internal SD showed up (read and writable), and the usb storage mode app was asking to enable storage still. when enabled again the app sits with the loading wheel spinning and my ext SD card never shows up on PC. After ejecting the intSD from the pc and closing the usb storage app, my extSD is not seen by the phone. Reboot and it it is back.
I also tried the MTP and seen basically the same resaults, extSD is not listed on PC, and was not accessible from the phone after the cable was unplugged. And back after a reboot. Im not sure if the extSD card was accessible from the phone while MTP was enabled.
I almost always do a complete wipe between installs, and usually format sytem, preload and emmc. All of which i did prior to flashing the ROM.
As a side note, the only thing i changed in the trickster mod was the read ahead up to 1024 and scheduler to ROW. I did not think at the time to try to reset the app to defaults.
I am currently running slimbean 6 and seems to be working proper with both the int and ext SD cards.

I Have had the same issue. Even did a format/system and factory reset. If I restore to 5.9.13 all works fine. If I recall there was an issue like this before( not sure which ROM).
Using and app, Multi Mount SD-Card allowed you to access external card. I have tried it and I can now get into my ext. card. I must use USB mass storage mode to still access internal card. I'm sure once we get a logcat to Task he'll figure it out.

hi,
I have been unlocked and what not for a long time.
My latest ROM installed through TWRP was CM10.2. It really worked well... until it didn't anymore. I would reboot and it would get stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" white logo.
I wiped, did fresh clean install of same ROM and thought, surely that'd do it. Nope. Still same problem.
Did something get corrupted?
I used TWRP to restore the stock ROM (months ago as soon as I rooted and unlcocked, I backed it up). Phone works great, no problems, but I really liked the AOS/KP roms.
The thing is when I connect phone to PC, I can't even access the internal or external SD to copy an updated version of (any) rom. All that shows up is a folder that's marked as a CD (as if I inserted a CD) with samsung driver installer .exe and a couple of other files. I went ahead and ran the installer, still no go for SD card.
I also installed the toolkit found here on xda. Nothing. Still can't access the internal storage or SD card
What can I do?
Thank you!
edit: I am able to access the SD card from TWRP 2.6.1.0

I also installed the toolkit found here on xda. Nothing. Still can't access the internal storage or SD card
What can I do?
Thank you!
edit: I am able to access the SD card from TWRP 2.6.1.0

WHen you plug your phone in, is it set to MTP or PTP. You should have it set to Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). Also take your sdcard out and make sure it can be read by a pc period.

Yes, MTP is what I was trying. the sd card works fine. I restored an old rooted stock rom from the first day I unlocked and rooted months ago.
Then after booting into stock rom, the PC "sees" my phone's SD.
I am no expert, but it seems something in the boot got currupted or messed up. No 3rd party roms go passed the white note 2 logo anymore.
I wiped and tried
- the CM 10.2 build that had been working awesome
- a new CM 10.2 build
- PAC MAN rom.
They install fine, first boot into the fresh TWRP-installed rom works fine. But when I reboot, they get stuck. The stock ROM restores fine and I can reboot no problem.
What can I do?
I'll try to change the topic name.
edit: well, I can't edit the topic name. If a mod can, please change to: "cannot boot into custom ROMs."
Did you fully wipe your SD from going to 4.1 -> 4.2/.3? That could cause an issue, maybe. I had a lot of issues changing from 4.1 to 4.2+. Some of the roms, like Carbon, would not let me connect to my computer. I finally settled on PACMAN and it works great. I would just try backing up internal storage, fully wiping everything on the internal memory, and installing one of the roms.
I always wipe internal storage

Windows 7 home premium.
haven't tried causal again. I need to, I guess, because I miss the custom ROMS.
