Hi everyone,
My micro usb on my x10 broke a couple months ago right before the update so now im stuck on 2.2.1 and i cant plug it into my computer to let PCCompanion update it. So i was just wondering if there was any other way to update.
thanks
You can always update via xrecovery if you have that. Just download the official update from your carrier on the net, rename it update.zip, place in SD Card, boot phone in xrecovery and select update via update.zip thing.
Other than that its OTA (over the air) update for official carriers of your's provides that.
Assuming you are talking about official updates.

its not that hard to repair the microusb port or go to SC for repairs
Be careful u might not be able to flash it if it gets stuck, turns to a soft brick mode. Bettercto get it repaired.

Also, you wont be able to flash any of the unlocked bootloader kernels without flashtool...
And if i am not mistaken, to get baseband 71 (That 2.3 roms use) you need flashtool, not recovery, so you may have to find a way round that...

That's true, for basebands you need to use the flashtool, which uses the usb...

im with rogers, and i dont think they have files i can download so i cant do any ota updates the latest 2.3requires me to use pccompanion so it looks like im stuck im using xperia tw007 rom so its not too bad. Just wanted to see if there was any way to update without flashing which requires usb. I went to a local repair shop and the guy said most likely the circuit board may be damaged so it may not jus be simple. He has seen a bunch of x10s and they were all the same problem and he couldnt fix it. So for now ive jus been using an external battery charger and 2nd battery to be able to use my phone.

So i received a x10a as a xmas present. After doing much research i decided to debrand this phone by following the direction from this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wacg-dsx9ew
I downloaded the GENERIC 2.1 x10a firmware from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
after i was done flashing, i noticed that my camera wasn't working anymore...it would boot into a black screen and after a while i received a forced close message. Then if i try to access the camera with the camera button, it shows a message "camera not available" so i tried to flash it with multiple different versions of generic 2.1 firmware with no luck.
After reading many post about the camera not working i believe it's a defective camera, this is when i decided to flash it back to the original at&t firmware (so i can take it back to the store and get a new phone with a working camera) using the files provided from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872298
now when i boot up my phone i all i see is a ! inside a triangle and the phone icon...what should i do???
thanks for all the help in advance
edit: finally was able to flash it back to AT&T with a rather strange procedure. I used the non-gui flasher to first flash in the 1.6 AT&T firmware but with no luck booting up. Then I flashed in the generic 1.6 firmware, surprisingly, when it booted up i saw the AT&T logo and all the AT&T app was in there. camera still didn't work, so i just took it back to the store and got a new unit. I flashed it again with GUI flasher, and now im running on nordic 2.2 generic firmware with all the features.
PS. does it matter if I am using a x10i firmware on a x10a phone? i did some research and only got mixed response, some say it doesnt make a difference some say 3G is affected. which one is correct????
I could be wrong but it sounds like you've bricked your phone. I haven't heard of issues (going through the forum) of people having camera issues using bin4ry's rom. Its most likely from debrnding it and then the multipile flash attempts.
You're going to need some time and patience to fix it. Have you tried the repair function on the SE PC Companion software yet?

Hello everyone. I have a problem with my Motorola Atrix and I am hoping someone might be able to help me.
I got it as a late Christmas present so its still practically new. I tried doing an OTA update from 2.2 to 2.3 and the battery died whilst the update was taking place. I replaced that battery with my spare battery which was fully charged, but now it won't load. When trying to load on startup, it gets stuck at the dual core logo and gives an error message if I press the volume button. The message says something like "Starting RSD protocol support". I am gutted...
I have been searching feverishly through the forums for some help, and I have come across some information with regards to the types of bricks, ie hard/soft, but I am not sure which it is in my case. There is alot of information available, but I can't find any with my problem. I am not opposed to trying to fix the problem myself as I have some experience in messing around with software, though that was back in the days of p2k-tools some 10 years back, but I would appreciate a nudge in the right direction and some advice maybe since I am almost clueless about Android software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Additional info:
The phone is completely factory default software wise, so is not rooted or running any form of custom firmware. UK carrier - Tmobile.
I think you have two options. If it's still under a warranty, take it back to the store and ask them to repair it. Or if you don't care about a warranty, you can follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261 to unlock your phone and install a custom ROM. But if you decide to unlock you phone, before trying anything, read the post completely. I'm saying again, read the post completely before doing anything.
I myself unlock the Atrix and using a custom ROM and I have a pretty good battery life compared with a stock ROM.
Thank you for your response. I will look into the warranty idea and see how that goes. I hope there is not a long wait period which is my biggest reservation about this option since I need my phone.
In so far as installing the custom ROM and unlocking it, is there maybe another way that would allow me to continue to use stock firmware and OTA updates? I have been reading through some threads where they say once there is a custom firmware, running an OTA update could brick the phone. I also really just prefer to keep the phone original. If this can't be done, then I will have to give the warranty thing a serious go before I consider the alternative.

Go here > http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Android_Products/ATRIX-4G_Software_Update_Page. Another alternative is to flash 2.3.4 stock via RSDLite, but if the update went through on your phone you could brick. Hopefully one of these will work for you! Other option is to unlock the bootloader.
If you have a full battery why not download the T-Mobile software and write it back to the phone via rsd.

By now the battery is just short of full, but it should be enough to get through the flash. Where would I get the T-mobile software? I have checked their site and the latest android update they have is 2.1 on the site. I have also looked at the Motorola website, but their means of update is via an update program called Motorola Software Update.
Sorry if I appear a bit dense, its just from what I'm seeing is that I may only have one chance to do this and get it right, else its bye bye Atrix. I am still waiting on a response from Motorola with regards to my query about the warranty. If I can get it sorted myself, I will definitely prefer that as opposed to having to wait on them to diagnose etc.
Have a look for the ATRIX super firmware thread on here and see if the T-Mobile software is in it, it may be the old software but it's worth a try as you can send the phone in to be fixed or just take it to a T-Mobile store and let them deal with it for you.

If I implemented the automated update via the link you provided, could that circumvent the potential bricking you described, provided the program can access the phone? By the way, the link you gave was software for an AT&T mobile, while mine is T-Mobile UK. Will this make a difference?

Thanks for the offer pal. Wish I was in the London area to get the help but, I'm in Stoke.
Ok, i have no idea if this will work but hay the phone is knacked so why not give it a go, it's under warranty so you can send it back if it don't work go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944 find the orange full and t-mobile service files, download them and write them to your phone via rsd, it's kinda hard to say what one first, its a shame that the t-mobile one is not a full one as that would be perfect, the battery should still charge so leave it on over night, also if can try and make a motorola service cable, that will put power to your so no need to worry about a battery, have a look on here as to how to make it.........ok forget all that if you check out post 276 on the link above it has download for the GB rom t-mobile uk which is what you need to wirte via rsd.
Even if you don't pay you're carrier for warranty Motorola gives you a year warranty on the phone and that's the sane with almost all carriers I sent my unlocked atrix in for screen issues and they still fixed it and same with my hd2 and ipod touch

Sorry pal, been busy with classes so no time to update the thread. Basically, I tried to update via Motorola software, but it seems it cant access the phone to begin the update process. I tried to do download the OEM ROM of 2.3.4 from the ATRIX superthread, as this seems the safest option to me, bit it seems its on a host that no longer allows downloads. I tried to request a mirror, but I don't seem to have the authority to post in that thread. If you or anyone can make the request for it to be reuploaded to another mirror, I would be most great full.

Ok, well it seem over the whole megaupload thing any of the file sharing sites are playing it safe, you need to find someone who has the t-mobile file already and can send it to you, i have the orange one but not sure if it will brick your phone or not.

The OP of that file would have access to his files on the host, its only 3rd parties who can't download his files from uploaded to his account. If he/some one else who has it can upload it to another site, it would be fine. He should still have access to his files on his account with the host though, so if anyone is feeling kind to make the request on my behalf, I would appreciate it very much since I am being prevented from posting in that section myself. Thnaks.
I tried to install a custom rom and followed the instructions from this thread. All works fine until I did a fatal mistake: Instead of flashing the nAa kernel as described, I accidently flashed X10 V1 BLRelock that was previously chosen. Now my phone is completely dead, not detected by Flashtool or SEUS, I can't get it into flashmode (pressing 'back' while connecting) even after removing battery several times for different lasting periods.
Is there any chance to recover the phone or am I supposed to buy a new one?

Doesn't seem to matter whether you're on stock or custom kernel, the x10Blrelock just bricks the phones. If you need to relock the bootloader for some reason use S1Tool's Restore option.
The best advice i can give at this moment is to just remove the x10blrelock.ftf from the flashtool/firmwares sub-folder so it can't get flashed by accident.

we should have a sticky thread (locked for no replies) with a list of read-first-warnings/what-never-to-do for our minnies. not a loong guide, just a simple list. i think it would serve an important purpose and avoid a lot of bricks for first-time-flash-users.
even I managed to brick my X10MP first time I flashed a ROM. it was loooooong before bootloader-unlock was possible, so very easy to fix.
Well guys, today the postman brought my x10mini pro back from the jtag shop. They did a quite good job by jtagging it for installing an original firmware. The issue is: This one seems to be older than the one I once had. I tried to update the software via PC Companion but there is no higher version available.
For installing CM7-2.2.1 I need Firmware Latest 2.1.1.A.0.6 with Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 - this I had before bricking it.
Now I only have 2.1.1.A.0.54. Where do I get the latest update if not from SE itself?

I think you *should* be ok as long as the baseband is the required version, but there are original firmwares available in the x10 mini pro development section. There is a kernel+baseband package here
( And don't forget to delete the x10blrelock.ftf package from the flashtool\firmwares subfolder )

This was the first thing I've done after bricking the device
I now installed your linked fw/baseband version, it states the correct baseband ending with ...15 now, but the build goes to 2.0.A.0.504
OK... I did it too... I hard bricked it... now I want to repair it myself, but I will need some help.
I bought these things:
...
Segger J-Link: http://www.segger.com/jlink_base.html
...
GPG Industries u20i resurrection cable: http://www.gsmsp.com/products/Servi...e_for_U20i__by_GPGindustries__1209_19715.html
...
The cable has a battery slot that has no pins (I guess they are not needed), but I soldered them out (just in case) so the battery fits and I can set it on top of the cable so it can power the phone with the J-Link plugged on if needed.
I have a problem finding the correct config files for the J-Link to reprogram the phone. I can't get it to recognize the phone. Maybe I'm doing something wrong in the whole procedure. I don't know... I would be glad if someone experienced with Segger J-Link could help me.
I was watching videos on YouTube about resurrecting the phone with a Riff Box... then I checked, the both boxes have same pin-outs... more the J-Link has a power pin plus, that the Riff box is missing.
X10 Mini totally dead bricked
Congrats!!! Happened to me too just now.
Let me know your progress will order cables but it might take a while for me to get them hence I´m in Brazil.

Hi,
I have a Pantech Flex P8010. I never thought it would be updated to jb. So I rooted it. Removed all bloated applications from it. Changed the recovery to CWM. I haven't taken any back up before the bloat removal. All I have is the cwm backup of the debloated version.
Now Pantech have released the jb ota. Oh well I never knew that this was going to happen ever.
I have a couple of questions.
Is there any way to update the phone to jb with the root privilege?
Is there any way to return to complete stock?
Will the recovery and bootloader image available in the forums be useful?
Any help would be really great help.
Thanks a lot.
hi
can someone pls upload or send me a stock rom for the flex i lose my backup when my sister mess with my computer
I think we should wait. You can make back up even now if your device is bootable..
What recovery u use? Clockworkmod?

As it sits right now unfortunately we have no complete stock image to put back on the phone in order to restore it to a pure factory state. The factory restore on the phone does not affect the recovery only the data. In as much OTA updates are not available at this time and probably never since this phone is getting older. If you attempt to install the OTA update and get caught in the CWM bootloop simply start the phone in fastboot mode (I believe it is power + the volume down key on this phone) and choose the reboot option it will then skip the recovery and start the phone normally. Sorry I don't have any better answers for you. I'm hoping to land an HTC One in the near future...

I also accidentally removed 1 too many of the at&t apps from my Pantech Flex using Titanium Backup. I am already running the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.
Would anyone out there be willing to use Titanium Backup to create 'backups' of the stock Pantech AT&T apps for us to recover with?
I'd be willing to pay for the Titanium Backup app as well as a bit for the time and effort.
Thanks!

Ok, thank you very much. Still, I have some questions if you don't mind. First I have to install CWM on my Flex, or is it already in my phone? If there is a tutorial that wil be nice, if not i will find somehow how to do it. I am just new to Android, my last phone was a Symbian one (Nokia C7) and it was pretty easy to install a new firmware on that one.

Have you tried the pantech PC suite for the drivers?
Since it looks like I can't unlock the boot loader on my model I am thinking about returning my tablet and getting a different model or looking into warranty options. In either case I would need to have unrooted the tablet. The problem is that nothing I try seems to work. A factory reset doesn't unroot it. SuperSU unroot option doesn't work. Universal Unroot Tool doesn't work either.
I was partially rooted with Towel Root and then fully Rooted with Easy Root. What are the steps I can take to reverse it?

Just flash your stock firmware via latest Flashtool or Sony pc Companion.

Not possible. First of all, I am on stock firmware, and second of all the Sony PC Companion doesn't work with SGP561. It specifically tells me to use the "Verizon Software Update Tool", but Verizon refuses to tell me where this is because I am not a customer and none of the old versions I could find work. Since I couldn't use Sony PC Companion I couldn't create a TFT image to begin with and although I can use Flashtool I would need one of the stock firmware SGP561_17.1.D.0.417 that is also Verizon locked or it will fail, but since I can't create a TFT image with Sony PC Companion the likelihood of finding one that works is low. Hypothetically though if I could find that exact stock firmware I could flash it and everything would go back to normal. (Unbranded firmware fails, BTW, and since the bootloader can't be unlocked on my model custom firmware isn't possible either)
I called Sony to find out where the required Verizon Software is located and they said it will take a day or two for researching the problem. No one seems to know anything about it.

I could do it for you if you wish. Do you really want 417 ftf or newer 437 ftf file?

Before you go through that trouble wait a bit.
Since the Verizon tool I could find failed - rendering it half bricked waiting for a proper update - and since neither Sony nor Verizon knows anything about the tool I am required to use they are willing to accept the warranty service on it. I am fortunate that because the failed update wiped the data there is no evidence of it ever being rooted and since this model's boot loader can't be unlocked even if it is fried there is no evidence of me doing anything wrong with it. And it was Verizon's tool that did it, so it's an honest case.
Anyway, I sent them a screenshot from last night proving this tablet hasn't been unlocked and I am on the phone with Sony on hold to see if they would be willing to sell me an International version right now and then refund me when they receive it. Since I need it for college on the 25th (textbook replacement) and I have no problems paying upfront they seem to think it should be possible, but they are all sort of talking with each other about it to see if it really can be done. If they can I will be able to get rid of the Verizon mess permanently.
If not, getting that firmware update from you would be greatly appreciated. I'll edit this post when I know what's going to happen.

Thanks. At the very least that will help the next person with a problem.
Sony was willing to sell me an SGP512 model and is going to process a refund for what I paid on the SGP561. That's a better solution anyway since I'm not on Verizon's network - especially since Verizon doesn't support it. I paid for expedited shipping so I will get it in 2 days and I won't need to deal with any Verizon apps. I paid for 3 year extended warranty as well which covers all damage so as long as I dont't mess with the boot loader I shouldn't have any problems with it.
To anyone else reading this: Avoid the factory unlocked SGP561! It's a nightmare!
