I don't know if anyone is having this issue, as I don't see any threads for it, but when I try and use either launcher on my phone, the wallpaper gets messed up. it shows a mini wallpaper, over a larger wallpaper. I assume it has to do with the screen, and neitherone supporting it. Anyone have any ideas with this, or are you using them with no problems?
Someone else just mentioned they were going to try another launcher, I have ADW EX but enjoy sense right now so I haven't made the jump. I would imagine if everything else is lining up correctly (ie. Icons, notification bar, dock bar, etc) that it is just the issue of the wallpaper being the wrong size. Did you try simply changing it?
running launcher pro plus with no wallpaper issues.

Well I had tried changing wallpaper, still goofy. I think I screwed.it up when I restored launcherpto through mybackup pro from my thunderbolt. I'll do a factory reset and try again.

Go Launcher works pretty well for me...a little lag, but nothing more than the lag most Droids have on their stock interfaces...
that happened with me using those launchers on my Incredible 2 and on my Thunderbolt(and yes it still happens on my Rezound).
I find it'll only happen when you press the Home key under certain circumstances. for instance, on Launcher Pro, if I go into "Hidden Apps", make a change, save and then press Home... it'll do it. However, if yoy simply press the "Back" key, it goes back to normal.
I put ADW EX back on my phone via market download last night. Zero issues, but I didn't want to set up all my icons and widgets again so I went back to sense for now. My backups and everything worked, but needed to put all the widgets back up, and half the apps were missing.
I switch back & forth between Sense & Launcher Pro Plus. My phone absolutely FLIES and has absolutely zero issues with LPP+ but I really like some of the HTC stuff.
I have a clock skin for Weather & Toggle Widgets that looks identical to the HTC clock/weather widget (& the weather update/location etc. works way better than the HTC version) but the HD Rezound screen causes that widget to display smaller than the HTC version so it doesn't look quite as cool....
~John
I've used both LP+ and ADW EX. ADW EX was lagging slightly and then I decided to switch to LP+ since I haven't used it in a while and it works great. The only issue I have with it is half the time when I unlock the phone it will give me a black screen with just the dock drawn, all I have to do is press anything and it gets redrawn and all is well again.
Same here running adw ex and no problems.

thanks for the responses everyone. Glad to know I just did something stupid. I don't think I could live without my LauncherPro
Run ADW ex, SBP Shell and stock with no issues. haven't tried any others. touchpal keyboard didn't seem to fit good on the screen. prob to the better resolution but all others, swype, swift key seem to be all good so far.
FWIW, I noticed that after restoring my backups from my Incredible 2 that some apps just weren't "looking" right on the new screen. I determined that they just weren't rendering well for the new phone so I uninstalled the app and data, reinstalled from the market and then reinstalled just the data from my backup. All is well!
For those using LP+.
What memory settings works best for you?, I am having trouble choosing which settings to set.
Thank you in advance
High seems to give the best performance for me. I have the transition animations enabled and the looping homescreens, using the "high" setting screen switching is almost instantaneous and it uses about 31 MB.
I'm running ADW Ex, with zero problems. Also, ADW Ex had an update yesterday. New features and also ready for ICS.

I see another fan of Elixir2 Widgets.
Really liking my Rezound. Currently using LPP. I have been using it for over a year now even with all the Roms I flashed onto my EVO 4G. Its one of the first things I install.
Haven't had any issues with it yet.

I played with it a little bit last night. Its nice, for sure, but it doesnt have enough customization options for me just yet. Definitely something to keep an eye on though.
Some of the cooler ideas were the ability to grab and pull the dock left/right to move between homescreens, and the hidden workspace that you access by tapping certain corners.
Things I would like to see are a vertical, traditional Android app list instead of the horizontal one. Have having to keep swiping over and over to get to the end, when I could just fling it once and get to the bottom quickly.
Live wallpaper compatibility would be cool.
A way to hide apps, Ive got so many apps that I rarely use, but want to keep around, and this is why Ive always stuck with LauncherPro. I can keep my app list small, but a quick search will still let me use it when I really need to.
Id say its definitely a replacement for those wanting something like SPB, especially at the price. Hopefully theyll listen to the feedback theyre getting and throw some updates at us.
I have been testing it over the last 2 days. Good for free and certainly less of a memory hog than SPB.
Main issue is lack of customization.

iv tried both spb and this one i still have spb alot smoother and less lag and more customization
Regina is laggy and a battery drain. I like having 5 walpapers but not worth it.
Cool... sounds like a no-go... I guess it's a good cheap alternative to the spb shell, which should have a lower price.
same here lack of customization ,,,i cant use my own wallpapers..beside dowloading their so call theme app.. so no go for me i unistalled it back to adwex
This app is pretty amazing for just starting out. I hope they steal all of Launcher Pro/ADW/Zeam's ideas and this can be sexyyyyyy.
Been using SBP for awhile, gonna have to check this out.
still prefer adw ex. it has more animations and themes

I'm able to use my own wallpapers from gallery. Did you try longpressing the homescreen and hitting the edit tab? Workspace wallpaper should give you a choice of using the theme or your normal gallery.
love the concept tho just not quite snappy enough for my tastes (i guess LPP has spoiled me) but mad props to the developer. This launcher is totally steak sauce for a start up

Download Lighting Launcher, free and looks to offer the same features of TSF, just found it on the market and watching the video now..... Looking great, but will report how it compares to my other launchers-nova prime, adw ex, launcher pro...
Sent from my 4G HTC Rezound
Lightning launcher is pretty plain jane and minimal features. No comparison to the others.
IMO...
Better than Launcher Pro, and I do like the single, scrollable homepage... A little quirky though if you have the homepage able to rotate according to the accelerometer in the phone because for whatever reason you can only scroll up/down in portrait mode and left/right in landscape. Adw ex and Nova are superior but for free I can't complain at all.. With a little more development and polishing will be a great option. I'm going to give it a spin for a week or so and see how the battery performance is compared to the other launchers.

Isn't it TSF Shell? $16.80 in the market.
Nevermind.
Went back to launcher pro for S&G today.... surprised by how paltry its performance is on ICS, I remember when LPP was the greatest... I had to give the app 1 star Fc's swiping between my homescreens... Smh

I'd probably user lightning launcher just for the cool falling effect of app placement. Also has anyone seen if TSF shell is working alright on our device? I've been following it for a while, but am tight on funds, so not really wanting to risk something that won't work.
Have been following TSF too, but haven't found it yet... I wouldn't side load it either... that seems like an app you would want to have your official updates pushed to you through the market because it is so new and still (hopefully) in full development stages
***to be clear this is not Lighting Launcher.... It is actually called Lighting Launcher 3, the original is soon to be depreciated from the market, and sorry for the confusion. ***
Update- I am loving the simple yet completely customizable layout ofvthis launcher, it has grown on me very quickly, and unlike anything I have used and really enjoying it... Hopefully the dev. will make some small adjustments to aid with some unique issues... for instance scrollable widgets work but they are very peculiar...

of course not. Why pay that much for something on your phone that you use more than any other thing???
The above poster hit it right on the head.
I have purchased spb mobile shell on both winmo and android and have used it enough to justify the purchase.
Haven't tried it on the rezound yet though...
interesting, installed mobile shell 3d on the rezound and it defaulted to tablet mode which makes the icon smaller (though usable), and gives you more area to install things.

Is it possible I could get that picture you're using for your wallpaper? I absolutely love it.
Who here uses go launcher? I'm new to android so please bear with me. I was looking at themes and stuff and saw go launcher mentioned. I also saw it mentioned as a means for using scrollable wallpapers. So I downloaded it, opened it, and basically had no idea how to use my phone once i did. all my stock icons and everything were gone and there were 'download' bars everywhere. i realized when hitting the home button i could switch back to the default launcher and thats where i'm at now.
So before diving into messing with go launcher, is it worth it? Does it work well once properly set up? if so, got any tips or is there a site explaining how to use it and everything? I couldn't even find the applications button.

Go Launcher is the best Launcher ever... Just need to play around..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
Ok, so I was messing around with it a bit this morning and I'm figuring it out. One thing I can't get still is scrolling wallpaper. When I went to set it, it asked me if I wanted scrolling (and yes i've got a 1600x1280 image that I'm using), but it doesn't scroll. Is there something else that I might be missing?
Also, I installed their go task manager on one of my screens. It seems I have about 30 apps running. Is this normal? Was it like this on the stock launcher, or with this launcher do I have to constantly be sure to kill everything?
How's your battery? I never have that many apps running at once ..
I just started using GO launcher too, but it's very similar to adw ex which is what I've always used. These launchers are very easy to set up. Long-press on the screen to add your icons and widgets and so forth. Everything can also be resized, like long-pressing over a widget to get it resized properly to our larger screens. Just press the menu button and go through the preferences and see how you want to set it up to your liking. Also, go to themes and you can change everything such as icons and wallpapers in one step. Mine is currently on the ICS theme which comes preinstalled on the launcher.
I don't really use task killers so I'm not quite sure if the number of apps running is normal for you or not. From what I understand the android OS automatically deals with managing apps in the background and you should never really need to use a task killer.
I would recommend googling GO launcher guide for more in-depth reading if you're confused at all
Here are some screens showing what I think are the open apps. I'm not sure if theres a difference between open apps and apps running in the background. I didn't want to take a screen of each app as i scrolled through but you get the idea.
In ics theme using go launcher, folders on home screen.
Clicking on folder to open, it opens on top side of the phone,
How can I change pening of foldee to bottom side of phone by the location of folder.
Like in adw ex launcher.

Go Launcher, atleast the version Im running (beta) the task manager widget shows apps running in the background as well as apps you have loaded. There are two different styles of widget you can choose for the task manager. The minimal version just shows a gauge / no apps and used / free memory. I think the one you are using is the 4x2 widget that shows app icons...

For those of you that are using this launcher, is there a way to remove the 3 dot menu button that stays under the dock? It is taking up screen real estate and very annoying
Not yet, from what I've read. But Nova is a great launcher made for ICS and doesn't have the menu bar.

I have the same issue the op posted plus I have made go launcher my default launcher when I go to the phone app and try to make a call I am not able to put them on speaker. When I go back to HTC Sense I can get the dealer app with the speaker button on it. I can get the dial pad but not the speaker phone button.
Does anyone else have this problem or is it only me.
Thanks....

i believe they added this setting in the latest software release or may be built into Fresh ROM...settings>display gestures and button>recent app buttons then select the second option "pres menu, press and hold for recent apps"
I tried Apex, Go, and Nova. Ended up sticking with Nova. Couldn't stand those menu dots. Apex I loved, except that it was laggy on my phone. Home screen would take up to 5-10 seconds to appear. Nova doesn't do this to me. They just updated today and now it includes adding columns/rows to the app drawer.

Yes, I didn't think of that. I tried Go before the update, but overall I like Nova better. Go developers began to turn me off with GoSMS and all the bloatware, and I ended up getting rid of that, too, and switched to Chomp.

Same here mate...
I've emailed the go team though to let them know about this...
I'll keep using it with desktop effect cylinder and app drawer effect chord which seem very smooth...try it!
Before that i've been using Apex latest beta(go in about Apex, check for updates, beta) because it's jellybean based and quite more smooth than the stable one...
When I'm on stock ROM I use stock launcher and quite happy with it.
On custom ROM's I use Apex, it feels snappier than Go.
Stuff from the GO Team are, and always have been, an overhyped embarrassment.
I used to use LauncherPro, but since its discontinued and is out of Dev for over a year I started using Go Launcher EX and it works like a charm for me.

i tried the Apex launcher pro just now, its a bit laggy like go launcher and does not have hide apps in the drawer. i got about 50 apps and i put them on 5 pages of the homescreen so i wanted to hide all those already in the homescreen.
btw thanks to all of your replies guys, ill try all your recommendations :good:
touchwiz nature ux is good but can be better.
so they have to optimize it.
downloaded nova launcher prime and gotta try it now
well, atm i'm using the CM10 stock one.. (something like 'Trebuchet Launcher')
But idk.. there is no 'best launcher', u must choose the best one for you ^-^ take a look at holo launcher hd! its very smooth/liquid.. it doesnt support themes, but you can use icon packs ^-^ good luck
Btw: the stock icon pack is Jelly Bean one!
ADW for me
I used nova from day one and it was just ok. Lately I switched to Tsf Shell and it is by far the best launcher I have ever used. It is lightning fast and haven't had any restarts yet, so I say it is a keeper.
Of course it is in beta phase yet so there are some cons.
