Try an app called marketfix.

I've found the new market does this pretty often.
I just download again and it usually works fine for me.
Goodluck!
Vibrant+MIUI
I used to have this same EXACT problem, and here are your solutions:
1. Clear market cache, then see
2. If that doesn't work, Odin to JFD with repartition checked, then reflash the ROM.
3. If the above didn't work, then you have to reformat both then internal and external SD cards, and don't forget to backup the things on the SD cards. I would Odin to JFD if I were you before you reformat just incase.
And that's that. The third step is what helped me, odining to JFD with repartition checked should ttoo.
Good luck

SOLVED! I think? Seemed to only ran into problems updating a few apps that I had restored through titanium. I Went to my apps tab in market noticed the apps that I was having problems with were in the not installed list. I Uninstalled from apps phone and downloaded from market and reinstalled. No more problems. May have been able to use Titanium's market link fix but I dont have paid version. Thanks for you input guys!

I have Titanium Pro and still had this issue with GOSMS. I had to uninstall it and reinstall, maybe its just a glitch with some apps.
Hope this helps others, just uninstall the app that is giving you the insufficient space message.
Strange I ran into this problem yesterday too!!!!
I just flashed MIUI, and was installing downloading apps from market place and it says insufficient storage. I have plenty of storage!!!
Possible solution, I was downloading and installing several apps the same time. Try downloading/installing one at a time, this seemed to work for me.

Be careful using the market doctor on tb with the new market. It made my market fc continually after that, and I just read another thread where it gave someone else problems also.

Market problem

Today I wiped everything and reflashed andy's rom prevent those kernel panics I've been experiencing. After I did so, my market just won't work anymore, while updating apps or installing a new one, it just says downloading but nothing else is happening, I can't say it's wifi problem because I can still browse whole doing so. What seems to be the problem?

I don't know if this would fix the problem, but you could do a fresh install of Market by following these directions. Or maybe flash gapps?
wow dats a really big problem just do not kill the market ever in your whole life....(this method work fine for me)
I've had similar problem in both Andy's ROM and CyanogenMatt. The market doesn't completely malfunction, just "delayed" as at first nothing happens but after a few hours I would suddenly get notification of download for apps I picked earlier. Not sure if yours behave the same, but in my case the solution was wait until the Market updates itself to version 3.1.x. (Or you perhaps can update manually.)
Remove data from the following applications:
Download Manager
Market
Google Services Framework
Flash this
Download the new market if the old one doesn't work
If nothing helps, reboot to recovery, wipe system and data and reinstall your ROM.
I got a server error in market after clearing data (

Try unstalling updates for Market it fixed mine. Newer version of market is not working on my optimus one properly.
I already tried that, but the update keeps getting installed after some time, it's like it's updating on it's own

It will sort out on its own after some time(it did for me)
or try installing the new Market from here.
I think your apps will be installed after some time.

[Q] Couldn't install on USB storage or SD Card.

Anyone know the reason why some of my apps wont install and give me this error but others work fine?
Maybe some apps aren't written to run from sdcard

Running cm9 by any chance?
Does Google Talk work for you? If it doesn't then you need to clear the caches on all google apps (including the market ones).
I had this problem before and I noticed that Talk didn't work as well as the downloading errors from the market.
this is till 4.0.3 everyone have this issue...
apps which installed on sd cant be updated...
after the first restart you cant update some apps or install them new.
here is another...

Insufficient storage available - Stockage disponible insuffisant

HTC ONE X
Hello, my update of Titanium Backup * root, so I have this message (title) that appears. Yet I still have huge room. I uninstalled the application, but can not be restored, the other works well. For example Instagram which weighs 12.77 MB installs without worries ...
I clear the cache of all applications ...
Safe Mode, it gives me the same thing.
In recovery, wipe a cache does not solve anything either ...
Relocation of the ROM without wipe, and always the same ...
HTC ONE X
Up !
Are we talking about insufficient storage in Google play?

I just fixed mine too. I used a logcat, I saw what was causing problem in the app installation and where this file was. It was in the root/data/app/ I browsed there using a rooted explorer and then I deleted the file. More specific I was trying to install hdwidgets (cloudtv.hdwidget is the package name) but during the installation (and not the downloading) I read in the logcat that a file named cloudtv.hdwidgets-1.apk could not be renamed or something like that and it was placed in the root/data/app dir.
Hope it helps...

Thanks you very much for the tip ! You saved me lots of time ! Had this issue with "insufficient storage available" even if I have more than 1Go available ! Looked in data/app and found that the .odex file wasn't deleted when I uninstalled the app, so manually deleted the file and was able to download from market !
To be honest I noticed that if you use a cracked app (for testing for more than 15mn market limit which is really too short) and you de-install it to buy the legit one then the issue appear and you can't download from the market after paying, so now you know what to do !
thanks again.
Lucky Patcher (a cracker app, which causes this) also has a fix for this.

BBC Olympics app won't install

When trying to install from the Google Play store on my Samsung Galaxy S3, I get "Error, insufficient storage available.
When i look at Settings/Storage, I have 6.08Gb available of the internal storage, and 12.78Gb of SD card storage available.
My S3 is not rooted, and is stock. It has the latest Samsung ROM on it (I9300XXLFB); Android 4.0.4, Kernel 3.0.15-782020-user; build IMM76D.I9300XXBLFB.

Doh!
OK, figured out what it was.
I had been messing about , trying to get my S3 to install apps on the micro-SD card (known error, see: http://www.chainfire.eu/articles/113/Is_Google_blocking_apps_writing_to_SD_cards_/ ).
I had used these [1] instructions to set-install-location to "2". Alas, that did not make it possible to store apps on the micro-SD card :crying:, however, I forgot to change it back to "0" :silly:
I've changed it back to "pm set-install-location 0" and the BBC Olympics app now installs :good:

Ah, thanks for the tip,- not quite what I had but it put me on the track. I have ROM Toolbox Pro and had tried making the default App install location on the Ext SD - unclicked and now updates work.
