Is it the one that updates your camera?
or are you updating now to 7740?
We've had 2 updates recently. First one being 7740 and then camera one which was in past 2 days.

I stand corrected.
I got the update right now. It's pretty long though!
It took 19 minutes to update!
It changed my date to 18th December and time was +5 hours.

The update did indeed take some time on my device.
Bootloader remains at 1.9.160015.3(132193)
I can confirm this:

RADIO SOFTWARE: 16.23.03.17_ 16.27.00.23U

Well this could well be wishful thinking but my WiFi seems a little stickier than before the update. Let's hope my 3g data connection stops going down too will let you all know after a bit of a road test tomorrow.

Hi, I'm updating it right now, hoping the wifi issue gets solved. And possibly a better battery and handling of signal.

After the update i have problems with wifi, it cuts of until i restart and then after few minutes it cut of again, it stays connected but its not working.
update: it seems its working now...
update 2: no its connected, but no internet access until i restart the wifi.....
I restored it through zune to previous version and everything is ok again...
I did the update yesterday and today my Titan ran out of battery in the middle of the day. I did barely use it. so normally battery at that time would still say 70%. I hope that is not connected to the update.

Strange, I have the opposite after the newest update. I have the battery app installed (dev unlocked) and every day when I get home my battery is usually in the low 20% range. Today with usual usage its 43% I was shocked! I'll have to keep checking daily to see if it keeps up or whether just having a good day!

Hi guys
I got my Titan yesterday but only managed to have a play today.
Ive noticed mine suffers badly from the grip of death just holding the dam thing.
Am i the only one with this problem?
Grip of Death? Meaning you loose signal by holding it?
Yep hold it and say bye bye to signal.
Whoah, I was thinking of getting a Titan, more info please before I make a terrible mistake.
HAHA reminds of me Apple's response to the grip of death on the iPhone 4.
There is no grip of death... uh.. you are holding it wrong.. actually all phones do it if you hold it in a weird way.. eh.. here have a free bumper. all without an apology.
Unlucky dude.
hoping it's just an issue with your particular handset rather than the whole batch.
will you put up a review of the titan soon?
Ive tested the device with a Tmobile sim, i get the same results but no as bad as Vodafone UK.
On Vodafone it goes from H 3 bars down to G 1 bar.
On Tmobile it start off with the full 5 then drops down to 1 to 3 bars on H.
I will made a vid when i have time and post it up.
As im still waiting on my ebay case to turn up, i dont know if this will resolve the problem.
I will be contacting HTC tomorrow, to see what they have to say.
Attenuation? Yes. All of HTC's phones suffer quite a bit from it.
Nothing new to see here. Anyone who keeps up with this forum knows that HTC phones have terrible Attenuation and their phones tend to get weaker cell signal on the same carrier even compared to other phones that use similar or identical internals (as WP7 launch devices did - try an HD7S and a Focus, the Focus is stronger).
Motorola > Nokia > RIM > Samsung > * > * > HTC for good cell signal quality and strength.
I'm almost convinced it must be something to do with how they design their devices.
Mine isn't so bad. I just received it yesterday and while the radio on it doesn't beat out the focus it works well. I'm not too impressed with the supposedly infinitely better battery life though...

The issue is two-fold:
HTC phones even with equivalent Radios (which is in the SoC, BTW), have worse signal quality than phones for other manufacturers.
HTC phones suffered from Death Grip issues with the same internals when other OEMs' phones did not.
The HD7/Focus is just one example. It happens a lot in their Android phones. The HD2 had Death Grip/Weak Signal issues, as well.
It has something to do with how they design their antennas, and they don't seem to be taking a hint and trying to remedy the issue.
The bigger the phone is, the more of an issue is becomes becaue the more of your hand you have to use to reliably hold the device while talking.
Also, in low-coverage areas dropping 2-3 bars can be the difference between talking on the phone, and dropping a call. It affects data speeds a lot, as well.
As for the battery, every OEM claims infinitely better battery life just cause they added a few hundred mAh to the battery size. They just forget to mention that the increase in other specs and hardware pretty much cancels that out

Don't most phone do this to some extent, not just HTC? The DVP has it too. Even the humble Nokia E71 has to held upside down to get the best signal. The DVP is worse as it starts off with a weak radio generally even before you start to attenuate signals with your hand.
Posible fix

Hi, I was having the same issue.. and I founded the solution. The problem is with the litle contacts that have the case.. check the picture and check if all of them make the right contact.. On my phone one of the litle metal was not doing the right contact (it was down) I move it a litle up..
With this litle fix I get the reception from 2bars to 5 bars on the same place
Hope this helps

i believe all most all HTC put the attena on the low-back part. Just don't put your hand all over it and you are fine.
Iphone 4 problem happen usually because our fingers usually place right on their spot when calling.
I have absolutely no problem with mine, reception similar if not slightly better than my hd7
Sent from my htc titan using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Checked mine and wrapping both hands around the phone doesnt lower the signal.
50% calls - other party can't hear me but I can clearly hear them.
It may be related to this or other software/hardware failure.
How come they don't test these devices?
Im almost starting to think I've been lucky with my handset.
I have none of the problems that have been posted on this forum, nor do I have this "grip of death".
Sorry to hear about all the problems, but I absolutely love my phone. The only quarrel I have is the lack of syncing of multiple google calendars and the inability of turning off autorotation.

I've got the latest version (1.09).
50% of calls (more or less) are "listen-only" (LOL but it's not funny at all @ this price level), reboot doesn't help - some calls are OK, some calls are not; in the same area (office, home) -- my SGS2 works flawlessly, very strong HSDPA signal (maximum strength)
It's random issue, probably hard to detect and fix, I'm so frustrated...

The OS version on my AT&T HTC Titan is 77.10.7720.68 Your manual update seems like it pretty easy to do I was wondering if I wanted to try this then roll back how would I do that since your file don't have the version my phone has?
Also, do you happen to know if this new version or any newer version takes care of the random power cycling/reboot that occurs like 1 or 2 times every 12-18 hours? My phone seems a little better now that I uninstalled the HTC apps (except for the HTC version of Tango video chat software since that is made for the Titan) hope that these updates take care of that too.

Hello,
You can see here and here
Thank You,

Hey guys,
Just updating you all on this if you haven't already read the Windows phone blog today.
They have mentioned in their blog that this update and the future 'maintenance updates' will fix more than the change log just to maintain any issues raised by the carriers. However, these maintenance updates will only be released to carriers that ask for it. So if your carrier did not ask for this maintenance update or anything else in future you won't get these kind of small maintenance updates. I am going to manually update my phone today as mine is SIM free and my carrier will never get me any maintenance updates.
I will post back if I see anything noticably different. I would however recommend that if you feel confident, then go for manual update as your carrier might or might not have asked Microsoft for the update. The reason I understand is these maintenance updates once applied require your carrier to put their crap back on your phone. Some carriers happily will do it and others will take long time to re-do their crap on the phone, which means you get update later than the world. I do appreciate MS's approach regarding maintenance update, but it's a shame we have some lazy carriers supplying network to windows phone!
I am thinking of doing the manual update as well. Would you indeed be so kind to post the result? I am curious!

I got an update from Zune, but it was OS update only. There was no firmware. Should I restore and try it again?
It'll come later, some have got the firmware and not the OS.
Thanks for letting me know.
I just got a similar reply on Nokia Support. They're being pushed seperately. The user I replied to had received the firmware, but not the OS update yet.
I'll try to be more patient.

Got 8107 + new firmware in one go
Tried the disconnect trick when the last update was being rolled out but wasn't working. :S I thought they fixed it?
Clearly not
Also, MVNO's are better supported now, my phone shows Giffgaff instead of O2-UK, not seen that in a while!
I'll give it a go.. Hopefully it works this time around.. Any tips?
Took me about 5 goes to time it right. Best tip is preserver I guess. I also turned flight mode on as I read that helps.

+1 to this. took a few attempts, worked in the end
Just managed to get it updating. It's getting new Windows verison, not sure about FW tho, will have to wait for it to finish and check.
Any noticable improvements yet? I know it's too early though
Mine only said Windows version, but firmware was included too. Auto-brightness seems better, diagnostic app contains more stuff. Charging now to see new capacity.
I just flashed back to 11451 via NCS, then forced the update through Zune.
I got both the OS update and firmware (8106.11500). I'm hoping this firmware is the answer to all our battery problems. Full charge capacity is sitting at 1483mAh. Will post back if it starts to drop (like on all the other firmwares)...
T-Mobile USA Zune Force Update Worked..
Flashed and have joy now..
Like others mentioned above, battery capacity reads 1481 rather than 1517; so was this the correction I wonder?
Will have to see how it performs over the coming days.
Autobrightness seems to work MUCH better; that alone will conserve some power.
Going to close down my system and go home now; I am curious if Bluetooth will be any better. I have a Nokia J - works better than non-Nokia, but have had to re-pair it a few times due to repeated connection dropoffs. Want to see if A2DP will work now. And of course, will try the camera to see if there is anything else good there (in spite of prior reports..)
Cheers
[1st Edit]
Ok, so far BT is holding together but we'll see.. I'll have to see if the belt holster throws it off. Still no A2DP though.. Podcasts, music, and Nokia Drive voices still play through speaker and won't route through headset.
[Edit 2]
Camera.. Nuts.. Spoke too soon. At work under fluorescents.. No pink spot. Came home .. Under halogen, spot is still there unless I use flash. So looks like nothing changed after all except the focus default setting (whoop dee dee... )
[Edit 3] Bluetooth seems very stable.. Going to try now with a non-Nokia earpiece..

Top New Features and Improvements
Improvements to proximity sensor
Arizona Time zone not updating is resolved
Gmail contact sync improvements
Visual Voicemail error Resolved
Microsoft security fix
Now i am not sure if these updates are the only ones but its what T-Mobile is saying is there. The new version number should be 7.10.8107.79.
Thanks for the heads - up! I am plugging in now and will report back if it's available yet.

[ONE MORE EDIT] Here's the details from Microsoft on the update: http://bit.ly/fjeYzO

Funny thing is I already have that OS version (7.10.8107.79) on my phone now which I updated manually with the cab sender and so on. But Zune is still saying there's an update available for me. I'll report later on tonight after I run it.
I just updated mine on my MacBook Pro using the Windows Phone 7 Connector. I updated, and it now says my phone is up to date, but it says: Current Version: 07.10.07740.03
UPDATE: Just updated again, and now current version is Current Version: 07.10.08107.03. Not Update 7.10.8107.79 yet... I'm off by .00.00.00000.76 points! I need a higher score.
UPDATE: Updated again, and the Mac software says, Current Version: 07.10.08107.03, but my phone now says OS Version: 7.10.8107.79, so I guess I'm up to date.
I guess...
Well my update ran and i'm the same as I was before. Maybe something else changed, but i'm at .79......

All in all there were 3 updates for me - first two appeared to be OS updates, the 3rd appeared to be a firmware update from HTC.
Hi there,
I got a sim free / unlocked Titan today. It is the EU version, got a UK power adapter with it, but I am having problems updating the handset.
I assumed that it being sim free, I shouldn't have any issues updating it to Tango.
I'm currently on 7720 and no updates are being found by Zune.
Where do I go from here?
Would prefer to have the latest update if possible.
I don't currently have a sim card installed, would that effect it?
Thanks
Appears Zune isnt even attempting to go online to check, I disabled my net access just to see what it does. Just says phone is upto date. HOW DID YOU CHECK WITHOUT AN INTERNET CONNECTION. Aaargh
I already hate Windows Phone 7 and it's my first day.

Zune will use the phone's internet connection to check. I think part of the disconnect wifi halfway through to get the update trick was to force Zune use the telephone connection. Once you turn on flight mode on the Titan it will not find any updates anymore.
Oh and Titan unbranded UK here: No update.
Think i'm screwed.
Installed the 2.05 RUU today, still not finding any updates.
How can a phone be update broken? It doesn't make any sense.
what is 2.05 ruu?
there is a high likelyhood the upodate isn't officially released for all unlocked devices. so nothing wrong with your phone.
i read somewhere on xda people could update to tango using the disconnect trick. so i tried that and was lucky.
i went to 8112 first, then 8773 then HTC update.
good luck
Got it to update to Tango with the disconnect trick.
Interestingly, it states HTC Update for Windows phone in the update window of Zune. So perhaps that is why I was having camera issues before, it needed specifics.
Any other unbranded Titans recieved Tango
Just wondering if any one else has recieved the Tango update on unbranded Titan?
Mine was purchased unbranded and unlocked, currently with a Vodafone sim but as yet no Tango update! I've tried the disconnect trick several times and a factory reset.
I've decided to wait a couple of weeks before I use the cabsender as I previously "Walshed" my HD7 and had to make a gold card to get it back to normal.

Yeah please don't do cab sender with the current Tango ones. I think Tango is followed by HTC update and one of them via cab sender tends to break the camera modes. I've Euro unlocked, got my update yesterday. I've reset my phone, swapped ROMs and then went back on Euro and still this afternoon got the Tango as soon as I paired it with Zune. Probably a weekend worth of wait?

The disconnect trick got it working for me, only way the update would stick.
Flawless with the disconnect trick. I had to try 3 - 4 times before I got the timing right, but then it worked.
It seems some new drivers came with the HTC update that follows the Tango update. I have the impressions that the quality of the conversation sound is better now.
That was soooo painful:silly:
Managed to get first update to 8117, then it took another hour of trying to get 8773 which was thankfully followed by the HTC update:good:
I thought Tango was supposed to allow contacts to be exported to the sim card but I cannot find it, is that just a lumia option?

Hi!
after the 8773 update, you said there was an htc update. I just installed the 8117 and the 8773 , do I have to do the disconnected thing to get that update too?
Thanks.

I did'nt have to, the HTC update followed the 8773 one straight away! If you did not get it then it is probably worth trying the disconnect trick to try and get it.

Before the updates did you have any connection issues when using WiFi and 3G connection at the same time?
Did the update solved that for you?
Hey just wanted to ask (since everyone seems to be ignoring my posts), if you go to games hub and look at your avatar does it stutter? Or if attaching a file do you have ringtone listed? And if you go to people settings do you have export to sim?
I've got these questions because I've installed tango 3 times on my titan (1 cabsender and 2 via zune), and also when doing a hard reset, capacitive buttons won't work at all, and messaging hub would be corrupted. In other cases burst mode would simply wont work as well.
I'm back on 8107 with 2.5 bootloader because tango is a minor update and it really does these "damages" rather than improvements on my titan, so yeah I lived with 8107 for a few months, I don't need to export contacts or have static ip settings and have a stuttery avatar animations.

Avatar is smooth, no stutter. Yes when adding an attachment to mms I have option to add a ringtone and no I cannot export a contact to sim.

I did have problems with WiFi and 3g together in the past and I'm going to say that since the update I think the problem has gone. But it's early days yet and I might prove myself wrong!
correction: yes I can add a ringtone to mms

I saw some people refering this issue was related to the internet sharing. Have you used it after the update?

No I Have'nt used sharing since update as my netbook now has a built in 3g modem. I'll probably wait for someone who needs to use it test it!
