Anybody know anything about replacing the battery in the gtablet?
Mine seems to have gone bad, it will not hold a charge. Would this be covered by warranty? My gtab is less than a year old.
If not, I'm pretty competent technically so if I had a source it would not be a problem to replace it.
Stickies clearly state not to post Q&A in General:

I don't use the G-tablet as much as I expected, so I'm considering putting it up for sale.
My question is, do you guys think it would be more desirable to a buyer if I left the custom rom (calkulin + clemsys froyo), or should I return it to stock first?
In the past, I've noticed cell phones for sale went for more when they were unmodified versus ones that advertised "rooted + Cyanogenmod!", etc. I guess because some buyers don't like thinking that the previous owner was mucking about in ways that could have bricked it or voided the warranty or something. But with the G-tablet, the stock rom was so limiting I think people might prefer something that gives access to the market and a decent launcher.
I dunno- advice, suggestions?
Most threads I've seen describe the current ROM but also offer to wipe and return to stock before shipping. It depends on the buyer. But I don't think it will affect the value one way or the other.
Just my opinion but you really should flash back to stock. That way you can rest assured any personal information is removed. The new user can do with it whatever they wish.

You can format it as well and load a custom ROM.

Thanks.
In the future, this could be avoided if you guys had a better definition of what Q&A was versus what General is supposed to be for.
If it was a question like, "How do I root my device", that's clearly Q&A. From the name of it, I picture Q&A being more FAQ type discussions. Its a question with only a minor variance in possible answers, with a clear right vs wrong.
If the thread were something like "Does anyone miss the camera on HoneyComb builds?", its more of a discussion- encouraging a conversation on the matter with no clear answer of right or wrong. Wouldn't that be more appropriate under general?
I suppose what I was asking here is more like advice, which I think would more easily fit under "general" than Q&A.
But it begs the question- if the purpose of this moderation is help organize information and make it easier for others to find in the future, is this helping? I wouldn't check the Q&A section for information like this first, because I don't think the average user would assume it would be found there. I would check general.
Just saying- I've moderated forums before, so just trying to be helpful.
Well let's look at it this way.... Is this a Question about the gTablet? It goes in gTablet Q&A. Is this general discussion about the gTablet? It goes in General.

Well, lets look at it this way- the content does not necessarily have to be in the form of a question.
It very well could have been:
"The merits of selling a stock G-tablet versus one with a custom rom" and then shared my thoughts, while encouraging others to discuss. I phrased it in the form of a question because I find that people are more interested in joining a discussion if it isn't just some dude's angry rant.
That being the case, I would like to argue that this belongs in General. And that the definitions need to be a lot less vague to avoid this in the future. I see that you have that sticky post saying you had to move over 200 threads.
Did you wonder perhaps if there was a greater reason so many are "misplaced" to your definition?
Not trying to make a scene or anything, but I think there is room for improvement here.
EDIT: A quick follow up. More than half of the threads in "general" appear to be questions, and not discussion starters like mine, but REAL questions, like help fixing something or how to do something specific. Those, I would say, belong in a section like Q&A. Although I would still argue that the definitions need to be less vague here if you want your job to get any easier anytime soon.
First off you are speaking about something from over 8 months ago. Secondly, you feel so strongly about it being in General? Then edit your post accordingly and it'll be moved.
As a moderator we do this out of our love for XDA and for no monetary gain. We do not, nor can we, read each and every post in each and every thread. Most of the time we action things when they are reported.

this is one of the reasons why people left xda to rootzwiki... mods need to chill the hell out.
Nook Tablet is known to have "extended USB" connector with bunch of extra pins in addition to standard microUSB's 5, and it seems it is the same (at least mechanically) as on Nook Color. Unfortunately, I wasn't able more specific information about the connect than this thread, and Novaports teardown picture which clearly (well, blurily) shows 17 pins, half of them apparently connected to something more interesting than power and ground.
So, is there updated information on this matter? I know folks here made hardware mods while cracking open the Tablet, so I don't believe it could escape their scrutiny. I don't suppose there's UART in there, but well, who knows, maybe charging LED is controlled by full-fledged GPIO for example ;-)

Thread Locked/Deleted - This Is A Development Section, Not Q&A -READ BEFORE POSTING-
I agree about putting it in the right forum, but this could lead to some interesting development. I would like to know what the pinout is as well. I tried finding out what the pinout was for the evo shift some time back. I had an idea for a dock/case combo that would allow full use of the physical keyboard as well as docking inside a vehicle. I had no luck with finding the pinout, so that idea went into the scrap pile.
I hope a mod simply moves this to the right thread instead of locking or deleting it.

This. It's starting to get annoying with all of these "mods" that aren't actually mods.
I'm sorry if this was wrong place to post this, but this is indeed more of a development question, not a random newbie's one. I did my homework, but didn't find anything regarding Nook Tablet, so figured this is a worthy topic for device enablement, and I collected initial information and links to objective info in the first message.
My second idea was to catch attention of AdamOutler and other experienced developers.
Again, I'm sorry if with all this motivation it was still wrong to post here. And I understand the mods - XDA-Developers is a huge place, so without keeping it organized it would be havoc. But I hope there's difference between "How do I install Angry Birds?"/"How to replace back cover?" and "Let's collect all info on specific device enablement feature in one visible and easily found thread in the forum where interested people will likely look for it".
Just because it can lead to development doesn't mean it is. You can always ask a MOD to move it when it is appropriate.
If you don't like people stating the rules and asking you to follow them, then I would advise you follow them. You don't have to be a mod to ask people to do so.
There is a Q&A section now that is for people's questions.

The development section is not for questions, even if they are Dev related. Please post in the Q&A section. It is not my job to move threads around, you should post in the correct section.
Please dont get into a argument over the legitimacy of a threads location. Just use the report button and a moderator will act accordingly
Hi Guys
I have the galaxy s2 and i am having problems with it atm, since the phone died on me during the night i woke up and left it on charge for a few hours till i woke up again and ever since then the phone WILL not sleep when the charger is plugged in? I have checked the settings on it and its all set to the way its meant to be, but when its off the charger it will go on sleep with no problems? Not a big issuse but its kinda annoying when you get a text or tells you its finished charging and the light wont go off when your trying to go to sleep yourself.

Suppose someones got to ask haven't they? lol But looks like we might have to suffer cause not many people know of it lol
From a previously posted similar question the issue is a known one. If memory serves me right it's normal for the I9100 not to sleep whilst on charge but remain on either 100Mhz or 200Mhz (can't remember the stated value)

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT start a thread in any development section to ask this Question. You will just get ridiculed (by others, not by me, I'm just warning you) and the post will be moved back here to Q&A by a moderator.
Development forums are intended to release things. Not to ask questions.
Now, to answer your question....
As stated above by HANDSY, if your question refers to the sleep of the CPU, then that does not enter "deep sleep" while the device is in a charging mode. This is normal.
If you are referring to the sleep of the screen, for example, you get a notification which wakes the screen, but the screen then does not sleep afterwards even when the set screen timeout elapses, then that is NOT normal. There are several apps/widgets that are capable of keeping the screen awake while the phone is drawing a charge either from the charger or a USB connection, so I'd check for installed apps/widgets in this case.
Couldn't you place the phone face down while your sleeping so it doesn't annoy you?

Silly question but you're sure you've checked:
Settings > Developer options (under System heading) > "Stay awake" is unchecked?

And to the START of your post i didn't start the post in this development section it was moved here by another moderator and now its going to get moved back over?? I take it this forum doesn't have any communications with anyone on here so before you start going on at me get onto your other moderators first!!!!
It's not getting moved back anywhere. It belongs in Q&A, it was moved to Q&A. Problem ? Take it up with a mod. My clairvoyance tells me this thread is getting closed soon. A bare minimum of research on your part before you posted would have got you an answer to a question that is a known issue with this phone/common knowledge here (not going into DS on charge).
You've got your answer, this thread is finished.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. Read my post over again. I didn't say you started this thread in a development forum. I was just saying that if you DID start a new thread in a development forum to ask this question, that would be wrong. Since questions belong in Q&A.

You posted this in General, it was moved here by Crachel, a Senior Moderator, as it is a question, and questions belong in Q&A. There is plenty of communication here by those who pay attention and follow the rules, as well as between management. You need to do your own research, not ask questions in General or Development, and stop posting in such a contrary manner if you want any kind of assistance here.
Hey all! I swapped the motherboard of a i9305 to a i9300 since they are identical in almost every way and needed a new screen. However now when I turn it on it has zero or one bars where it once had full bars in the same location.
If anyone has any suggestions they would be very much appreciated. PS I already tried replacing the signal cable/ antenna from the i9305.
Thanks!
Maybe u can try flashing another modem.

Cut the bickering about which section it belongs to... why even post it in the first place? Just report it if you don't think its in the right section.
Settling this matter once and for all... the OP is asking for suggestions - note the word asking. To ask for anything is to ask a question, therefore no matter how its phrased, its a question and so belongs in the Q&A section.
Thread cleaned and moved.
well I am sure it's an easy question but I am a noob so
my question is what is the use of those strange pins or whatever they are called marked in the picture down below they are found in the back of every mobile phone under the battery and if you can please give me some links that talk more about their usage
edit: to shame I read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230505 after posting this thread well I tried to delete this thread but I couldn't or didn't know how to so If any moderator saw this post If he may move it to the proper section and my apologies for breaking the rules :crying:
