So after doing many hours of searching I truly believe I am the only person with this problem. If for some reason I have missed this problem already and it has been solved, I do apologize sincerely.
I just got a Samsung GS2 with AT&T, rooted it first thing, and flashed the UnNamed ROM. After having it for a few days now, the ringer volume and Alarm volume are too low for me to hear in my pocket. So upon doing a bit of digging, I came across an app called Volume+. I am sure many people know what this is and have recommended it to others with my same problem.
I say again, I have already installed this app!
However, after turning all the settings full blast, level 15 in most cases, there is no change in volume.
Reading more about the app, its SUGGESTED that I flash CM7 and remove the DSP Manager... but I don't want to do that. I don't care about removing the DSP Manager, but I happen to like the UnNamed ROM. Besides, they said they recommend the CM7 ROM but "should" work with others.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated here. I am new to this whole thing, but I do know Linux VERY well and I am not afraid to tinker with things I probably should't.
Thanks again.
Any help here would be great!

HI guys over the last few days i have had off i have installed, every 2.2 rom out
all of them. i am insane keep pushing my self to find the best kernel, rom, lagfix combo to achieve perfection. macnut r14 with oclf 2.3 and YA-OK! Yet-another Optimised Kernel (v1.50 Update)
kernel.
but the result is the same APPLY "2.2 rom" "lagfix" apply any kernel. BOOm
NO MEDIA NO SYSTEM volume
deferent i900O kernels like the 1.4ghz something and the 1.28 . same result.
6 deferent Roms, 3 deferent kernels.
tho the incoming call and notification volumes are fine.
anybody know what the files control the audio are??
i'll just go through and replace them one by one until i find a fix.
but witch files must be a general part of every custom kernel.
OK first time i have ever posted a thread so i'll be prepaired to be riped apart by the best and the brightest.
HAY WAIT i figured It out THINK...it's out the audio is playing through the head phone jack when it is not plugged in. When i plug in head phones my external speaker works. hmNN probley simalar to the volume up down issue we had with 2.2 but its on the head phones AW.
sUX still is there an easy fix like over writing a file that contols this or iam i doomed.
I had a problem like this with an older phone. Try sticking a cotton swab with a small amount of rubbing alcohol on it in the headphone jack and cleaning it out and see if that fixes it. Beyond that, you may need for that to be fixed.
Had the same problem with Axura 2.1
I could not figure out why my media wouldn't have sound, as the rocker button would say that the media volume was all the way up. Then I went into Settings > Sound > Volume and the Media Volume there was turned all the way down.
Wrong fourm should be in questions and answers
im sorrie i am not clearer. im a dumb ass
its posted here because it has nothing to do with hardware.
it happen's consistantly over all 2.2 roms and kernels,
want to see what some of us are going through.
put 2.2 oclf and custom 19000 kernel.
any combo will do this.
=)

If you use straight up i9000 kernels the audio logic will be reversed. when notjing is pluggen into the jack, no sounds. When there is something plugged in, audio comes out of the internal speaker. Its one of the first thing eugene or sombionix fixed when they were working on jp3. Are those the problems you are talking about reading about? Because I haven't had or heard about any non rom specific 2.2 audio issues since.

You should install mean rom 4.2 and then flash dodova 5.4 kernel.. It provides the best balance of performance, stability and battery life. There also weren't any issues with volume on my end. Its so good that even tho ive upgraded to Mean ICS I have a nandroid of that exact setup

Flash 4.3 then flash Dodova's updated 5.4 or 5.5-test kernel separate. The 5.3 kernel that installs with 4.3 gives a lot of people reboots.
4.2 and 5.4 test was awesome for me work great till I switch to mean Rom ics v0.91 all good just minor issue .
it's all good, battery life is awesome!!!!.... now im looking for a rom that is aosp which one do you guys think is best? with large battery duration and good performance duration... Thanks in advance
every time the phone sits so screen off initializes , apparently the phone completely shuts down at some point ..
a quick tap of the power button to activate display and phones boots to htc logo
any suggestions please I already tried turning fast boot back on and that didn't help at all
edit : running meanROM 4.2 - it did it with .2 kernel and still with .4
I have no idea, I get the same thing, apparently that is a bug they haven't fixed. At least my phone reboots once a day tops with the kernel... Let's ser if we can find out!

i hope so and if it's a bug it has to be only a very few people using meanrom that encountered it ..
I dont mean to hijack your thread but this is directly related to meanrom 4.3 and headphones. Have you noticed when using music apps if you plug in a set of headphones it causes the fast forward/skip option to be pressed repeatedly? Im kind of wondering if the headphone jack for our phones has the abilities to use a set of headphones with a fastforword/skip button on them and perhaps its just my jack thats deffective. Just curious if youve ever noticed something similar with your phone.

There is a fork of Mean Rom in the CDMA development forum that removes sense as much as possible. I forget what it's called. On a pure aosp Rom, some stuff is broken so I suggest a desensified Rom instead.

Hi all I am running on HTC Eris the ROM Condemned CM7 V13 R.I.P. using Pageplus as carrier. I notice that the in call volume is weak and I have a hard time hearing the caller clearly even at the highest volume level. When the phone was unrooted and running the original ROM from the factory it had in Settings> Accessibility> an option to amplify the sound for the hard of hearing. In Condemned CM7 V13 R.I.P. those options normally listed under Settings> Accessibility are gone nothing is listed at all. I tried several apps from the market including Volume+ they do nothing to increase in call volume in fact the creator of Volume+ was asked about it in forum and stated because of Google in call volume features can not be added to his app to increase the volume.
What do I do?
Anyone can help me it be greatly appreciated.
I had an issue seeing the dialer why it was created all black I do not get but I found Dialer One which I can easily read and it faster than the dailer related to Condemned CM7 V13 R.I.P.
BTW I got this phone for free I lost my Palm Pixi at beach (miss it terribly) I want to make the most of this phone. Palm OS was so much easier to navigate too bad HP killed it.
Hi, have you tried flashing back to the stock ROM and confirming that the phone still does have a sufficient in-call volume level with that Accessibility option enabled? You didn't say how long you've had the phone and it's possible that the speaker has been damaged. I don't use that ROM, but I haven't had any problems with any Froyo, GingerBread or ICS ROM not having sufficient in-call volume. For some people I even have to turn my volume down.
I recommend [ROM] HTC Eris March 2011 OTA Stock ROM - v2.41.605.6/March2011_OTA_ReferenceROM_v1.zip available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984274. This isn't a root ROM, but it doesn't flash over your current recovery, so that you can easily flash back to any other ROM after your done testing with the stock ROM. Be sure to do a nandroid from recovery first if you want to save your current ROM setup (always advisable anyway).
Also, a side note, that ROM's latest version is v23. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030346 in case you want to update it to the latest version of that one. There's other ROMs, too, of course, like GSB v4.5.
Let us know what the results of your testing is.
FYI I use PagePlus too.
Thanks for you reply
Thanks for your reply I have tried going back to stock ROM and volume is better and it shows options in Accessibility. Maybe I should try a different kernel. I like the ROM I have it runs flash and videos with no problems and camera works etc. What the latest and greatest kernel for the HTC Eris?

So what about trying the latest version of Condemned, I think you said you're on v13 and there's a v23 now? Without looking I don't know what kernel v23 uses. The OP for the GSB ROM says it uses an unreleased kernel by Conap or something like that. Even if you don't stay with the ROM, it might be worth flashing it or some other ones just long enough to see what the in-call volume is like.
After all, it stands to reason that if v13 doesn't have a sufficient in-call volume for you, then maybe it didn't for a lot of people and that v14 through v23 of Condemned have fixed it. I didn't have any problem with the call volume in GSB.
I'm currently using the Evervolv ICS ROM. I love it, but mainly because it's the only ROM for the Eris I've ever tried (and I've tried a lot) in which using the GPS doesn't eventually crash the phone. I use the GPS a lot. But this ROM probably isn't for you, the camera doesn't work right I don't think. That ROM's author did release a new kernel for the Eris, the only released .35 kernel for the Eris, all others are .29-based. However, it too has problems like the proximity sensor not working and I think the camera is even worse maybe. I went back to the .29 kernel (the OP has links to both kernels ROM independent so you might want to give both a try. I also don't have a problem with the call volume with this ROM. Make sure and do a nandroid first!

Have you actually used those files (from the thread you mention) yet, or is that one of the things you're going to do this weekend?
FYI, that's what Volume+ does (changes those two files), only it might take additional fiddling with settings in order to find the right combination for whatever phone Volume+ gets run on, whereas the settings in these files are more or less tried and true good and hopefully safe specifically for the Eris.

Good you found something that works. Yeah, I think I blew my speaker in my first Eris, had it replaced under warranty.
Hello everyone, I've posted a thread like this before, but this one's a little different. I have a major issue. It may not be major to others, but its a big deal for me. Let me explain my situation. I feel imprisoned. I want the freedom to run whatever rom that i want on my phone. But the only rom i can run perfectly is Shostock2. It's an amazing rom, with a few tweaks and mods here and there, its the best rom ive ever used. But as an Android user and flashaholic, I want to try out different roms as my daily driver. But EVERY SINGLE rom I've tried has had one infuriating problem, the headphone volume is way too loud on the lowest level. This problem, however, has taught me how to do many things. I've learned how to decompile apks and jars, deodex and odex apks and jars, and edit smali. By learning all this ive tried to fix the problem by myself. I've tried to increase the volume steps from 15 to 30, but i had issues with that since the volume mutes at 16. I've tried running AOSP roms with Fluxxi kernel and used xxTweaker to decrease the volume level, that works for AOSP but i want to run a Samsung rom. So here is where i ask for help, does anyone know enough about the Android system to tell me which file deals with volume control? Or does anyone have a solution to this problem at all? I've tried looking for files that might deal with volume control but the only thing i've found is "AudioService.smali". Which is what i edited to get more than 15 volume steps. I really need some help guys, my poor ears can't put up with loud music. Right now I'm exploring everything in ShoStock2 to find out why the volume control is perfect in that rom and not in any other rom.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Sorry for the late reply. School has started now. But to answer your questions, this problem is with corded headphones, and the volume is loud while listening to music, watching videos, or basically any sound that is playing through the headphones. This problem occurs with all the new roms that ive tried except for Shostock2. This is the longest time ive ever had to stay with one rom. This problem didn't happen on a few roms such as Phone-Bricker and the older AOKP roms.
Hey fellas,
I updated from perfectly working CM9 last week to CM10 now. I set all volumes to MAX in the settings but have the feeling, that it's still not as loud as it used to be. I just received a phone call and wasn't really able to hear what the other person said, because it was just a notch too quiet.
I looked through the first 10 pages of every SGS2 section but couldn't find a fix. So... is anyone else experiencing this? If so, is there a solution to turn the phone sounds up? (ringer, text, alarm, calls, etc)

Maybe CM10 has that issue , go back to CM9 as i used CM9 and it was awesome experience :good:
The only sound issue that I've noticed on cm10 was using headphones...but you can use ex tweaks/stweaks to get a powerful volume using headphones!

CM10 has some volume bugs. If you don't want them the statement made before is true: return to CM9
However you can indeed install another kernel that support extweaks/stweaks to turn the volume up, but in that way you loose support in the CM10 thread.

bummer... I really like CM10 and kind of don't want to downgrade again
I just remembered that with Lightningrom you simply had a fix - hoped to have something similar in this case so that all sorts of tweaking can stay away from me. haha!
thanks for your help!
